We just purchased our AWD Highlander a couple days ago. The on board computer is saying we are averaging 14.8 mpg. The car sticker says 20-27. I how this improves!

Just a taller Camry with a 3rd row seat almost

We currently have a 2019 highlander se. Interior pretty good, seats are super thin on padding but ok for the price. Looked into buying the 2021 version of the se which is the xse. Disappointed for the price. They mounted cupholders to the floor in between the second row and made the pass thru even tighter for kids to get back there. Why the hell would you mount permanent cupholders in a passthru. Despite a redesign the third row is unusable for anyone over 10 years old. And don't get me started on the 4runners third row that's a joke in itself.

Tons of Reliability Issues

The Toyota Highlanders are plagued with issues, for Engine noises that requires new hood sealant replacement, numerous Safety recalls and all the way up to transmission issues that forces transmission itself to be replaced. Apple Carplay doesn't work 80% of the time. Terrible Car! will never buy again!

It is a comfortable car - the ride is great. I have been happy with the gas mileage and the safety features are nice - especially the back-up screen. What I don't like: the navigational system - I have an inexpensive Smartphone and it is incompatible with the system. I had to buy a GPS. I bought the XLE model and the interior especially the floor coverings and trim are cheap and impossible to keep clean. Overall it is a nice car and I love the ride. I traded a 2003 4 Runner V-8 which I loved and it spoiled me.

Annoying noise

The rear captains chairs seat belts rattle against the pillar unless you manually clip it into its cradle. Usually it’s the next day when your alone in the car. You have to park and get out, clip the belt and sometimes go around the car and do the other side. It’s freaking annoying! Otherwise I couldn’t be happier with the car.
