Used 2019 Toyota Highlander Consumer Reviews
Major Letdown
Well. my spouse has wanted a highlander for a long time and we decided to take advantage of the end of model year discounts on the 2019. We previously owned Hondas and a recent CPO RX350. Purchased an AWD Limited in September. Two weeks ago noticed spots on garage floor. The vehicle just logged the 2,000 mile mark and it's dripping trans fluid like a leaky faucet. This is beyond belief. Goes in the shop 01/07. This is not going to be a pleasant experience.
Toyota designers are flawed
I traded a 2016 Pilot for a new 2019 XLE Highlander. Smoother ride but disappointing acceleration response. Nav system sucks and driving assist features are hard to understand and the manual takes a genius figure out what it is trying to say Had 3 main problems with my Pilot and one minor problem in 3 years. Hoping my Toyota is more reliable than my Pilot. Overall I'm okay with my Highlander but would look around a bit more before buying another Toyota.

Seating is horrible
I went to go see the Toyota Highlander and was very disappointed. The drivers seat sits like a regular car not like an SUV and compared with the Honda Pilot. The quality of leather seat and the stitching of the seats was not up to standard. The 3rd row seats very uncomfortable and no room for storage in the back. The headrest does not tilt arm rest does not lock in position as the Honda does. Just was not impressed. The reason why I was interested was the 0 percent financing opportunity but even then not worth it. Maybe the 2020 model will be better.

Stinks like Antifreeze!
Apparently if you purchase a highlander and it starts to smell like antifreeze this is supposedly normal!!! Well I'm sorry this is not normal! Toyota Corporate will not do a damn thing about it again because it could possibly have a slight antifreeze smell and this they say is normal!!! I call BS! I have an 2008 Tundra with 255 000 miles and never once have smelled antifreeze! If the wind blows right it comes in the car and it burns my nose and also I drive a 4yr old around! Toyota Corporate will do nothing to help!!! They say a slight smell is normal but there is nothing slight about it!!! We are fed up and we are considering contacting a lawyer. For what my 2019 NightShade cost I should not have a constant strong antifreeze smell!!! Buyer Beware it's a Beautiful vehicle but it smells terrible the navigation is terrible and the acceleration is terrible! Never again is all I can say.

Steering wheel locks up unable to start
2019 highlander have been having continuous problems with steering wheel locking up and unable to start. When passing or accelerating the car bogus down seems the car cuts off then takes off. We have had to dealer 3 ones and they say cannot find problems. Will be taking back to dealer again have pictures from information center saying system locked.
