Consider my Astra kissed.
I went from a Cadillac CTS to the Astra. I needed a comfortable commuter car with better fuel economy. So far the Astra has been a great decision. It's not only comfortable, but the interior is nicely designed and feels very premium. Not bad for under 20K. The exterior design is awesome. I've already gotten a ton of complements. GM did a great job on this compact car.
First car
Parents purchased new in 2008 and handed down to me in 2014. It never had enough power to get teenage me in trouble, but with the optional sport package, it was engaging to drive. For my first car, it was well optioned with heated front seats, seven speaker sound and a surprisingly large moonroof. It was a very easy car to park and maneuver given its size, but had enough interior space to not feel cramped. It did well on gas mileage and handled Michigan winters well. Unfortunately part availability was lacking and damage from a rear end collision remained for months before parts could be sourced.

Pain in the butt.
This is not really a "Saturn". It's a European Opel with Saturn badges. I've needed O2 senors, breaks, tires, a fuel injection throttle body, a transmission flush, a new valve cover gasket(oil was leaking into the spark plug wells), belts, hoses, batteries (yes I said "batteries") and that's only the mechanical problems. While I still enjoy driving the vehicle, I should have stayed away from a brand that imported their vehicles from Belgium. I probably should have purchased a truly domestic vehicle with more miles because it would have been vastly more simple and cheaper to find parts. Oh, and there's an airbag recall to top it all off.

All-time Favorite Car!!
I love the comfort and handling of this car. Whenever I've driven other cars, I find that it is a relief to go back to driving the Astra. I will greatly miss this car when it dies as it has been my all-time favorite car.

9000 miles and loving it!
After extensive research I purchased an Astra and absolutely love it! Opel really knows how to build a great small car. The exterior design is sharp and practical. The interior materials quality/fit and finish is on par with Audi but what impresses me the most is the suspension. You get the feeling that it is over built for our roads. It feels stout, connected and very safe around corners, in traffic and at highway speeds. It soaks up bad road with that solid thump you get from premium sedans. Sure, having access to the turbo diesel or the 250 HP turbo motor would have been nice, but the 1.8 is economical (32 mpg) and has plenty zip especially around town. No regrets even with Saturn gone.
