Excellent Luxery 4x4

We bought our 2005 Nissan Pathfinder LE 4x4 new, with exactly every option we wanted, no more no less. There was one recall (for Pathfinders being driven in regions with snow) for the air bag sensor, which was replace at no charge, of course. A piece of the roof rack came loose in a car wash, and was replace by dealer under warranty, no charge. The vehicle has had no problems or issues (other than mentioned above). It has averaged 17 mpg, overall. I usually get about 18, while my wife gets abotu 16 (I'm a putster, she's a sporty driver), except during winter, inclement weather when mileage drops about 2mpg (that's when it's in all- wheel or 4x4 a lot). It's a keeper!

I've owned this vehicle for two months and I absolutely love to drive it. Compared to other first buy vehicles, I had no buyers remorse. I can't keep my daughter from behind the wheel of my Pathfinder and she owns a top of the line Toyota Matrix, which I consider an excellent vehicle and value. I test drove all of the recommended reliable SUVs including the 4Runner, Pilot, Explorer, Lexus and the pathfinder was the better vehicle hands-down when matched-up to the critcal consumer selling features such as: comfort, safety, handling, acceleration and styling. The BOSE stereo is awesome. Sticker price was 35,600, I purchased at 32,650. Get a deal that feels good to you!

Buyer beware!

Purchased used 05 Pathfinder in January of this year. Within a month of owning the vehicle, began having the transmission problems that everyone talks about on here (radiator fluid mixing w/ transm. fluid) completely destroying the transmission and radiator. Also began having the fuel sensor problem that everyone talks about. This all occurred between 65K - 70K miles. Don't take just my word for it. Read all of the bad reviews online for this vehicle for the tranny and fuel sensor problem. New tranny costs $5,000. To top things off, the gas mileage is awful on this vehicle (16 mpg best I ever got) I highly suggest you stay away from this vehicle.

I don't think I have had more fun driving a vehicle than our Pathfinder (and I have been driving for over 40 years). The cargo space is great yet when needed will hold 7 people. I have had 6 cyclinder vehicles before but this is the strongest one I have driven. This is my first Nissan and I am real pleased with it. We considered buying a Toyota Highlander because I have owned several Toyota's and was pleased with it. But the Pathfinder was to us in a class of its own. I highly recommend this.

Drove a 1996 Pathfinder for nine years (180K miles). Nothing wrong with the old one - just wanted something new, and could assist a relative by giving them the old one. I wanted another SUV and thought I'd try something different; "new and improved", so to speak. Did lots of research, many test drives, and the 05 Pathfinder won again. It's comfortable, drives tight, and accomodates the combination of long legs and high heels. The new styling is fresh and the combo performance/comfort package makes road trips pleasant. BTW, the '96 is still going strong. I was unable to ignore my personal historical data. I have every expectation that my '05 will provide the same years of reliability.

2005 Pathfinder is a disaster!

I just recently leased my new 05' Pathfinder. The problem started with a constant (what I thought to be) "spark knock" sound coming from the engine. I immediately returned the vehicle to the dealer. They told me that they called Nissan's tech line, and were told that there is an inherent defect in some of the 05 Pathfiner intake manifolds, thus they had to order the part, and they replaced it. I still get the knocking (at lower tones), the engine noise in inordinate, and it doesn't get a highway MPG better than 14 MPG! This experience has been a complete disaster!

**Warning**2005 Pathfinder Defect**

I and many others who bought the new 2005 Pathfinder from the same dealership have found a defect with the exterior. The defect is found on many but not all new Pathfinders, so please inspect before you drive a new one off the dealer lot. On the drivers side [passenger] door, look at the top toward the windshield. The metal should slightly curve inward and be smooth and flush with the lines of the truck. However, on many, the curve has more of a pushed in (bent) look than flush with the lines of the truck. This does problem does not occur on the [driver's] door. So, please inspect carefully in the daylight before you purchase and drive that new 2005 Pathfinder home. Outside of this, I am happy.

Nissan should issue recall

Bought our Pathfinder with 37000 miles on it. Purchased the extended warranty for security. Had the same problem as many others, radiator went causing the transmission to fail. Nissan would not cover the cost to repair ($5500) either because the radiator caused the problem. Couldn't get anywhere with Nissan corporate so we wrote a letter to our Attorney General. Got a phone call from Nissan Corp shortly after asking for repair bill. Received a check a few weeks later for the cost of repair with no explanation. Come on Nissan! Own up to that fact that this is design flaw. These vehicles should be recalled. Don't buy one of these and if you have one, sell it before it's too late.

We are having a great time driving our new 2005 Pathfinder. Once you get in it you want to keep on driving. Ours is the SE off road with a great sounding Bose stereo system. This is our second SE Pathfinder, our first, a 1988, carried us for 268,000+ miles with no major problems. We are hoping our new one can fill the shoes of the first one. We hope to get another 268,000+ miles on this one.
