Nissan Frontier Crew Cab
I recently purchased the Nissan Frontier Crew Cab at a Dealer in Tulsa,OK. I went from a Silverado Ext Cab to this smaller truck. At first I wasn't sure if I could adjust to the size but with the options available on the truck I purchased I was amazed! I thought I would want a automatic which I was accustomed to but when I got the manual it was even better. I enjoy the Frontier because it is very comfortable, sporty, great gas mileage, and makes a great work truck. Even for a commute of 45 mins or more to work the Frontier gets the job done.
Not worth the money
This is the worst truck I have ever owned the gas mileage is really bad 8 miles to the gallon I have had it in the shop 10 times for leaks transmission trouble power window trouble and engine trouble

great truck
I have had this truck for a year and a half. I looked at the other midsized trucks and could not find a better deal. bought for 19k compaired to 26 or 27 for the others. I have driven in all conditions such as 4 feet of snow, dry roads, and some light off road. Never had a problem with the truck getting me where I want to go. I would buy again if I had the chance.
fun to drive
i test drove all the others dealers and i could not find one truck i like driving and all the nissan trucks as well. i all most walk out of the dealer and went home, but i walk the last dealer and found this little compact truck o4 and test drove it and i loved to drive it. it drove like a car. it has nice looks, the bed is just wright for me small, it handles just like a nissan, breaking is fast, it could be a little faster at low speeds, but when you are at 60 and above i found out that this little truck will get up and go (looking down 85mph), and having the ac on in the summer and high 90's i get better gas 325 miles to the tank not bad for 16 gals.
SuperCharged 4x4 Frontier
This has been a great truck now for 12 years. Never a big repair beyond brakes, battery, etc. Great CD, Great A/C, Great in snow and even trails. Only two complaints; It's a longbed and hard to park at the Mall. It's also very poor on gas- about 12 mpg in town and 18 on the highway. I traded the truck in on a new Jeep Wrangler in 2/16,two years ago.

vibrating ride
Bought this and has vibrated from new.dealer says they all do it.it now has 1900 miles on it ,has had 3 sets of tires.dealer says he won't do anymore to it.im stuck with it.will not recommend this truck and will not buy another.performance very poor.
I made a mistake in getting this vehicle
This truck has no power, and the gas mileage is terrible. There is not much room at all inside. The hauling capacity is mnot that bad for a small truck, but if I have to haul alot of weight up a small incline I am in trouble.
Will not buy another Frontier
This truck is very slow. I know it is a 4 cyl, but it has this habit of shifting into the highest gear when I need it the least (going uphill and accelerating). When I need to accelerate, I have to either press the pedal 1/2 way down to shift, or push the Over Drive button on the shift lever. Speaking of which, you can't shift into a lower gear if you have something plugged into the cigarette lighter. The shift lever is in the way. Also, the plastic plug to the cigarette lighter is always falling out. DO NOT DRIVE this truck in the snow. It will not make it up even the slightest of grades. Even with XL tires, the back end is very light and slips everywhere. Don't buy this death trap.
Nice Truck
I really like this truck and the way it preforms. Cab could be a little bigger.
NISSAN FRONTIER ROCKS!!
Three car seats fit in the back seat and the akita fits in the bed. The optional bed extender is a must for large cargo loads. This is the perfect vehicle for a family guy who needs a truck.
Swiss army knife of trucks
This truck has been great to own. The power is above average. I use it to tow a trailor with race car. It attracts attention whereever I go. It's bright yellow with ski rack. The crew cab is nice. decent room for short drives. and the extra bed length is much appreciated. Reliabity has been great. 1 year of ownership and no problems.
gas hog
i like this truck except for the horrible gas mileage. driving down from san francisco to los angeles, it took me 3 fill ups just to make it. i was averaging around 13mpg. i had a tundra that at least delivered around 18-19mpg on the hwy. i try to drive with a light foot as possible, the best i got was 14.5 mpg. very disappointing for a V6. my advice, forget the supercharger, go with the normal V6, believe me, the power difference isnt that noticeable. and, go with the white colored gauges. mine had the black background w/c is hard to see in the daylight while wearing shades.
Excellent truck
I bought this crew cab long bed recently and am very excited about this truck. So far I like everything about it with the exception of one aspect. The tilt. This truck has so many nice qualities like fit and finish, pure looks, and power. I think they were looking at a different target audience, however. I'm 6'1 and with the tilt all the way up, and the seat all the way down, it can still be a little cramped on the driver's side. But on that note it is something that you easily get use to. It is just different I guess. Overall... No compact truck beats this one in terms of overall package (Quality, power, functionality -LongBed-, towing, etc).
just what i needed
from the moment that i laid eyes on it, i knew that it was a match made in heaven. i grabbed the wheel through it in gear and was pleased with the results. its definitely a head turner.
BAD GAS MILAGE!!!!!!!
The truck is very nice looking but the gas milage is poor!!!! I drove 1160 miles on it and put almost 97 gals. of gas in it! 3300-3500 rpm at 75mph! and thats with the 5 speed and 3.3 ltr. not recommended for alot of traveling! But it will fit a family of 4 in it nicely and the interior layout is very nice! ride is a little harsh but what truck isnt!
bad choice of wheels
The overall appearance of the truck would be greatly improved by adding aluminum or chrome wheels to make the paint really stand out.. Ride is hard needs softening up.
Good Truck
1st pickup. Power options, variable int. wipers, cruise, tinted windows, bed extender for $18K. That's a great value. Commuter car & weekend warrior. Use it to haul mulch, pallets of pavers, bring snow blower for service. 4WD a must with a truck in the snow. Fun to drive.
Best Value out there
I looked at all the 4 door compact trucks and found when comparing what you get for your money this truck was an all out winner. The closest competitor was the Toyota, but to comparibly equip the Toyota to what I got in the Nissan, I would have had to pay THOUSANDS more. On top of that, the Nissan has a nicer interior, standard equipment and options that aren't even available on the Toyota, a better and MUCH quiter ride, and a longer, more usable bed.
Nissan Frontier
Disappointing fuel mileage. About 21 mpg. 4 cyl has low power for getaways.
The Good, Bad and Ugly
My 2nd Nissan Pickup-last was a '98- great-this one not quite as good. This one had good ride, dependability, great mileage. Owned 6 years, 42,000 miles- same tires mileage between 25 and 28 normal, and on trip to Yellowstone, 32+ amazing! Range 290- 330 miles 'cause gas gauge design always made truck look like it was running out! Full was 9 O'clock, 1/2 was 7 pm and empty was 6 PM. Very bad on confidence. Overall, truck performed ok but emission controls choked what could have been more horsepower. Problems were, Steering wheel squeaked from new, Oxy sensor failed, Parking brake cable fell off mount, Horn quit in snowy winter, rattle in headliner. All in all a good truck but some small issues
love my truck!
overall best truck i have had , had fords frm a dully to a 250, nothing compares to this truck!
great truck
Excellent truck no complaint from me. never had a problem with it. It has hauled everything i have wanted to haul.
Looked @ All The Trucks
I looked @ & studied all the reviews, resell value, and of course price of every truck on the market. I spent 3 monthes before I made this purchase. This truck handles so good, plenty of power & not bad mpg. Most of my driving is city (17 mpg.) If you are looking @ these trucks, spend the xtra money for the automatic. 75 mph w/the auto is about 2600 rpms (3300 in the standard) In my opinion it is the best truck on the market.
The Final Frontier
Overall this has been an excellent truck. My primary use is to carry clients to show real estate in the mountains of North Carolina. 4 wheel drive is a necessity in the winter and to get in and out of undeveloped areas. Has good visibility and is comfortable. Reliability has been excellent.
My Ticket to Ride
So far the best truck investment that I've talked the wife into yet. This is the perfect truck for me and the family. I'm 6'3" and fit comfortably in the cab with a 5 year old behind me who also has room. Love the exterior of this truck even in the 2wd version it sits high like the 4wd on a good set of oversized tires. Bed extender is a must on the short bed. When equipped with the power package for the extra grand you get the all the things that matter and none of the junk that Toyota tries to pack in with it for extra $$. Just an all around great truck for th money spent.
Nice Truck
This Frontier is a nice truck. The long bed is actually large enough to carry some cargo. Towing capacity is good. The crew-cab is very handy for carrying stuff or kids, a little tight for adults on a long trip. Rides and handles very well for a truck. The crew cab and long bed makes it a nice compromise between a compact and full size truck. Fuel economy has become more important lately: my Frontier gets about twice the mpg of my friend's Chevy full-size, and about 6 more mpg than another friend's Toyota 4-cyl 5- speed Tacoma!
As advertised
I believe this compact truck is the best I have driven. Our vacation this summer consisted of 2900 miles, from flat lands to climbing Pikes Peak. Had wife and daughter and packed with camping gear. Plenty of power, gas mileage averaged 17.6 mpg, from cruising 75mph on interstates to mountain driving. Plenty of get-up and go. VERY smooth ride, quiet, no road noise. Solid built little truck. Have had many positive comments on style and performance of the truck. Plenty of room in long bed, even with a Tonneau top. AC was great.
mytruck
The Frontier longbed doesn't have a very tight turning radius, so I find myself backing up to get centered in parking spots; average gas mileage is around 16; I'm not a large guy but even with the steering wheel all the way up it still catches my legs getting in and out. Although it has 4 doors, there's very little leg-room in back. My child- seat in the back is only inches from the front seat, so I have to get the kid out side-saddle, and he can kick me upside the head any time he wants. The inside was obviously not designed by or for anyone in North America.
Frontier
Seat design and height reduces driver confort.
Great, Fun, Compact truck.
I have the basic 4-cylinder king cab XE. It's fun to drive and the creature comforts are pretty decent. Although the interior design and material have a cheap plastic feel to them, espcecially the knobs for the AC/Heater. Great truck for the price. The four cyclinder version is a little weak and takes awhile to get to highway speeds.
Great little truck,
Had the truck for about 3 months now, with alittle over 2000 miles. Truck has been great, no problems. Have the 4 cylinder, starting to get better gas mileage. Wasn't good to start with, but now getting around 26 in the city. I haven't had it on the highway since it was new so that mileage on the highway is probably better. Picked up a good deal at the end of the year with the rebates.
Best Compact for Your Money!
I love the design of this truck. I compared it with the Toyota Tacoma before I bought it. This is definitely a better truck. The Tacoma looks too plain and a little too conservative for my taste. The interior design of the Frontier is the best in its class. Overall a great truck for a very reasonable price!
what a truck
I TOOK IT FROM THE DEALER TO MY HOUSE. AFTER BUYING IT,I HAD TO PULL OVER AND GET OUT.JUST TO LOOK AT IT MAN WHAT A TRUCK.IT DRIVE GOOD LOOKS GREAT AND ITS MINE.LOVE THE OUTSIDE -LIKE THE INSIDE.
saved my life
I bought this truck just in time I owned a little SUV and wanted something a little bigger in case of an accident. Well a few months after I purchased this truck I was rear ended on a freeway by a semi truck going they say 41-50 miles per hour I was at stop and this semi hit me and I hit 4 other cars. I walked out of it I do have a broken lower back and a really batter up body after the accident but it saved my life. The frame on the frontier is well built. My family and I really loved the truck. The only down fall about it is the gas mileage and could use a little more leg room in the back. The ride is like a truck and feels like you're driveing a big truck and has a nice feel to drive.
bad to the bone
this small truck handles like a car yet has the carrying capabilities of some of its larger competitors.it is a very smooth ride, love the drive train!!!
I Love My Nissan
I saw this truck early in 2003 and knew immediately that it was the truck for me. Great looking, plenty of power, room for the kids (I'm a single daddy). It is the best all around non- full size truck that I've ever seen. It is a beauty, performs awesome in all terrain types, and is comfy and built rock solid. My son really digs this truck too and we expect to have MANY years of fun in this baby. Buy one, you won't be sorry.
Exactly as expected.
This is my 2nd nissan pick-up. Had last one for 8 years with no major problems. The bench seat was wearing me out before I could wear the truck out. I love this truck and it is much improved over my older 96. The four wheel drive goes terrific in the snow up here in New England! I'm 5'8" and have plenty of room in the truck, I think though that a large person might be cramped. A friend of mine was looking at a Dodge, I steered him towards the Nissan and he loves his truck as well. I fully expect to drive this truck for atleast 10 to 15 years.
01 here's a review with miles
Allright, so I've put 79,000 miles on my truck in less then three years. My driving includes a little of everything, city, highway, even some off road. But to be honest it's handled it pretty well. Recently though I did start having some issues, 1st: the taigate handle started to break and mad useing it very diffucult, but it was a easy $50 fix 2nd: Drivers side window knob broke, **** happens... BIG PROBLEMS- 4th: Throw-out bearing has worn, new clutch- $500+ 5th: Service engine litgh came on- O2 sensors need to be replaced first, possible the cat convertor. Still in the end I've treated this truck poorly so in the end these problems could be expected.
OK
No too bad for me because no one knows when I cannot write because no one know a word in Dutch
it's a truck!
The 2004 Nissan Frontier may not be a handsome truck but it does the job and at the right price. I would have preferred it to have a larger engine and more leg room in the rear, however I knew what I was buying so if I want to gripe about something it should be my thin wallet. This truck's best feature is its functional long bed.
Not bad for the price.
Overall it's a decent truck but have been questioning its durability from day one. The drivetrain is clunky and loose and when in 2WD the gearbox has an annoying rattle which the dealer says is "normal for these trucks." The lack of true power would make one expect better gas mileage but both power and gas milegae suck. It does look great and I have enjoyed taking it off-road. And it came at a great price. However, my final thought on this truck after owning it a few months is, "You get what you pay for."
Black Betty
This is my 5th Nissan and my 2nd Pick up. This build quality is very tight, no squeaks. The gearing is nice for cruising and commuting. A very versatile truck for a dad with a 7 year old boy, an active wife, and 2 big dogs that all love to camp and explore the great state of Texas.
It's ok but.....
I've had this pick-up for 9 months now, and it is ok. The ride is the biggest disappointment. The truck has a vibration when driving 40+, had at the dealership twice. They rebalanced the tires both times, but truck still has vibration. It also has numerous little rattles in the cab. On the positive side, you get a lot of options and a nice looking truck for a lot less than other models.
Frontier Rocks
The Frontier really could be used on the open Frontier.
Better than Ford
This truck is a joy to drive. I previously had a Ford Ranger. It had a 4cyl engine and couldn't get out of it's own way. My Nissan however is almost as peppy as my 6cyl family sedan. I am very pleased with this vehicle and I haven't had a single problem with it. The Ranger was in the shop more times than I care to mention.
Good Truck Revisted
1st reviewed a year ago. I still love this truck. My wife bought an '05 Xterra. Very jealous of the new design. Considered new Frontier, but sticking w/the '04. Feature I would like most the rear door on extended cab for easier access. Golf clubs are hard to get in and out from behind back seat. Other than that, I've really enjoyed this truck. Good commuter vehicle and great for hauling whatever.
SC V6 Extended Box - GREAT BUY
Great truck. Highly recommend it. Gas per mile is a little bad, but for a super charger who cares. I get a lot of people tell me what a great looking truck it is. I opted for the SC Crew Cab with all the options.
Exellent style
I like the 4cyl but , I would like to trade it for a king cab 6cyl without down payment down. I own Three nissans
Nissan
Great truck for the price and holds a lot of weight. Great for work and my electrical business.
Nissan frontier fun
Great new truck, have had it for a month. Looking forward to a great ride
