Used 1992 Nissan 240SX Consumer Reviews
Can Never Part With It...
Bought my 240SX in 1992 brand new and after 17 years it runs like the day I bought it! Now has 250000 km but still doesn't burn a drop of oil. I test drive and rent alot of cars but always am glad to come back to my 240!! Very easy to work on and parts everywhere! The car is very well put together in a common sense kind of way. I will be extremely sad the day I have to part with this fantastic car!!!! I still bet a couple of offers a year to sell it!...Noooo way!!!!
My 92 Nissan 240SX
I purchased my 240SX based soley on appearance. I thought "this is one hot looking car". The car was in superior physical and mechanical condition for a car that was 8 years old. The 240 is not the fastest car out there, but one of the best handling cars I know of. Accelerating through the gears is an exhilarating experience, pegging the spedometer happens before you know it. This vehicle outperforms most vehicles on mountain roads due to its exceptional handling characteristics. I have had no incidences of mechanical problems other than normal wear parts and runs as well now, at 165,000 miles, as it did when I bought it with 75,000 miles on it.

My 92 240sx
Bought the car brand new when it first came out and still have it till this day. Put about 230,000 miles on it about 2 years ago and did a motor swap to sr20det. Best car ever driven in my life. Would never get rid of it. Nissan is releasing there new 240sx in 2010. should be sweet cuz its coming turbo
2-4-0
Ihave owned this vehicle for 8 years. With regards to repair, the only replacements that have been initiated are: starter, alternator, battery, brakes, and general maintenaince. A GREAT CAR, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
nice
popular enthusiast car. very reliable, sporty.
ONE Happy Fan
I enjoy my 240SX...I also own a Mercedes Benz C Class Sport Sedan (another great car) but I find so much enjoyment from my 240SX. Great gas mileage (a BIG PLUS now), great handling, and a very sporty look..great accelaration..TIGHT. I will never part with this car..I have had people approach me to purchase this car and it is 12 years old this year. When I tell them that it makes them want to buy it more..low mileage..
tough little booger
I bought this car a couple of years ago with 103,000 miles it now has 155,000 and all i had to replace was a water pump ($60) and the valve cover gasket ($17). It handles like a champ (even after a wreck that damaged the support core)And it has enough power to give alot of cars a good run.One thing that is great about this car is that it has a huge selection of aftermarket and jdm performance parts and is capable of mking 400-500 horsepowerwith ease
Swap in a Japan spec turbo motor.
Depending on the state you live in, you have the option of legally installing a non-US spec motor. In Japan, the 240SX fastback was known as a 180SX. Some models where sold there with a different turbocharged motor known as the SR20DET. In addition the same body style was still in production until 1998 and had a revised front facia, agressive spoiler, and better tail lights. All of these items can easily be adapted to your US car, thus creating an extremly fast and inexpensive daily driver that looks and preforms great(Boxter S great). With few aftermarket mods, it is laughably easy to produce 250-300hp
Excellent overall
The 1992 Nissan 240SX was a quality buy for me. I bought it used with 160,000 miles on it. It now has 217,000 and is running beautifully. I don't have many problems with it for how many miles it has on it. Other than scheduled maintenances, the only things that had to be replaced were the alternator and fuel injectors, and a brake caliper. Considering how many miles it has on there, I can't complain at all. It is extremely reliable car, city or highway driving.
Don't Think Twice About Owning the 240sx!
If you have a chance to get one of these don't hesitate! I got a '92 several years ago w/ 127k. It now has 176k and is as strong as ever! The only parts needing to be changed were the usual suspects: starter, alternator, battery and tires. Just as the other 240 lovers say she: handles like a dream, power is just right for the mileage which I put around 26-28 mpg (mixed). That's if you don't push her hard...which is hard not to do! And great mpg for an automatic too! The engine, if taken proper care of, will outlast the body for sure! Just a fun, FUN car to own and drive. I will miss her when shes gone.
'92 Nissan 240 SX 2 dr SE Coupe!
Hey, I love the car so far. I like how it really gets up and goes, even though it's a 4 cyl. and automatic. It drives so smooth, even though it sits low to the ground. I have a problem with the radio right now, though.
GREAT CAR
I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR FOR THE LAST 8 YEARS IN CITY AND HIGHWAY. THE CAR HAS BEEN VERY RELIABLE--NEVER FAILED TO START. GOOD PERFORMANCE AND GAS MILEAGE WITH A FAIR AMOUNT OF STORAGE SPACE ONCE THE BACK SEAT IS FOLDED DOWN. ONLY REAL PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY FUEL INJECTOR THAT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE RIDE IS ROUGH BUT IT IS A SPORTS CAR. I WOULD BUY ANOTHER 240 IF SHOPPING FOR A CAR.
Performance and fuel economy
reliable, good speed, relatively easy to do maintenance on, has good stability on the highway.
Great Little Car
I really love this car. i got it about 2 years ago from my neighbors when i turned 16. Wasn't a big fan of little sporty cars, but now i'm hooked! It has been so reliable for me and i just love driving it. Stick shift is a blast to drive in this little thing.
LOVE this car-a JOY to drive-RELIABLE
Only engine/mechanical problem came up at 133,000 miles which was Power Steering Pump replacement. Costs have been non engine; convertible top(when new but covered under warranty),air conditioning, replace plastic rear window, recent radio&upholstery and expected normal upkeep. Negs-small trunk and back seat. Would buy another if available.
Excellent sports car
Excellent car !!!!
my fav car
I was hesitant at first about getting my car, but after a few spins, I soon learned that my daily drives to school were more than a chore.
Best car in the world
I love this car. It has never let me down. The only thing a had to get fixed was a cluch master cylinder at 120,000. It blew When I was In Stocton, Ca. I live In San Diego, Ca. I made it all the way home. Over the grape vine and though L.A. traffic. It was kind of scary but it made it the hole 400 miles or so. Now Its got 155,000 on it and it's never been happier. Man I love this car.
High Maintenence
This car has a good engine, very reliable as far as the motor is concerned. I have had alot of expenses from this car though. I have had to replace one transmission, a battery, two clutches, two fuel filters, have had to had the injectors cleaned twice, the automatic seatbelts quit working, the wiring for the tail lights was replaced, the passenger lap belt locks and wont release, lines in rear window for defrost are broken. Gas milage is only around 18-20 mpg which I think is very low for a 4 cylinder. Not alot of power.
s.baxter dream
this vehicle has been a very reliable and sporty car and adds a bit or excitement to your life and tends to think that you are superior to all others. have had all kinds of compliments on it and think it has changed my life or my outlook on life. wish i could afford the new 350 series
My 240
I am on my second 240SX i lost my first one to a wreck but i love these cars they are so much fun to drive and are very reliable. they also have alot of potential for aftermarket upgrades.
One of the superior road vehicles
This car has been a blast to own. I've owned mine since March 03, and everyday I still revel in the joy of driving it. This might be because I did own a 93 Ford Ranger before this, but the fact that it is an import and has good get-up-and-go also weigh in. It has many cool features, such as a HUD indicating MPH/KmPH, automatic seatbelts, a hardworking DOHC 4-cyl, and neat little fold-up headlights.
This car is indescribable great.
I bought my 1992 240SX standard coupe in 2000 and have never regretted buying it. It has NEVER been to a shop except for a tune up, and I change my own brakes/oil. I'm telling you this car is very very reliable. And let's talk about speed, I smoke automatic Mustangs and Eclipse ALL the time, weak American muscles can't stand my little 4 banger :) very very nice handling. And my car is all stock thank you very much :) It's a pleasure to drive except it's too noisy on the freeway due to wind noise, but I don't mind that. I sold my car and I regretted it truly, I asked the guy I sold it to if he could sell me the car back. He asked if I was joking :) and refused to.
Great car when paired with Japanese moto
The convertable has been a blast to drive. The top is easy to control and the car still feels as stiff as a coupe when taken to the track. Coming with a stiffer suspension and the larger ABS equipped brakes makes the convertable turn and stop like a pro. An engine swap was done, adding a 5 speed manual to the mix, and the car has been the best car I've driven in a long time.
Should be a lengend!
I just purchased my 240sx a little while ago, but I already knew the capabilities of a 240sx. Back in high school my had one and he used to blast it through corners and abuse the hell out of it and it just came back for more. I used to drive my uncles 240sx until he got a Maxima, and I feel in love. If anyone knows anything about cars they will know that this car has a sucessful race record and can be heavily modified into a street/strip dragster. Nissan needs to bring it back!
nice, but no miata
it's truly a nice car, i'm sure when it was fresh from the lot it was a blast. But it seems age is beginning to catch up with the poor thing, the once very high-tech 4 wheel HICAS steering system is buggy at best, and such comfort items like the clutch dampner box have become a problem. The motor is a strong point, it is very reliable, and builds power uniformly across the power band. the interior is very simple, neat and driver friendly. The exterior is among one of the timeless designs that still looks sporty even among the ranks of the new Z
Make more
This is a wonderful car. The car hugs the road better than any other car I've driven. Little bit weak in th engine for my killing, but then again, I can never go fast enough. I LOVE the interior but the pop-up lights are a bit ugly. Other than that, I must say that this car is definitely worthy of an A+.
Sad to see it go
I bought my 240SX in 97 and even drove it from California to Florida. I treated it bad, never got a tune-up or regular oil changes, or filter changes. I was a very bad owner. But this car never let me down. In the end though the alternator went out and there was some electrical problems and it was just better to get a newer car then to maintain. But even though it died on me I refuse to call it a junker because it was very reliable in spite of the abuse I put it through. I would imagine a good owner could make a 240SX last forever.
You gotta love this car!
I got my 240 as a 16th birthday present in '97 and have been driving it ever since. I absolutely love this car! The manual transmission is so much fun to drive, whether it's up and down hills, in the city, or on the highway. I don't know if this is just my 240, but it's never happier than when it's doing 90+ on the highway. A bigger back seat would be a dream, but it's a 2 door coupe, so c'est la vie. I actually feel like it has good-sized trunk for a car of its size. Have had no huge problems in all the time that I've been driving it, other than a recently undiagnosed problem with the car starting from time to time. Drives smooth, great brakes. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys driving.
Great car, sad to see it go!!
Overall a great car to drive year round. It gets about 20 mpg and is easy on the hair. This was an after market job from what I understand and is not up to Nissan standards, but still a great car. My wife and I loved the car and were planning on keeping it as a third car for the quite awhile, we only had 1 major problem with the car in 7 years of driving. until I totaled it last weekend However, a fun car to drive and
Fantastic Car
My wife brought this car into our marrage and it has been a lot of fun. The only reason we are parting with it is to make room for a baby seat.
nissan
this car has bad paint and interior,as well it breaks down all the time. The gas mileage is really bad and it is not fun to drive. I have to have some type of car
