5 Year Mark: 96k miles and still turning heads!

Purchased my 2014 Mazda6 Grand Touring as a CPO car with 2.5k miles (and six months on the clock) about five years ago and it is still looking and driving great. Like any car, it's not perfect but better than any other car I've ever owned. Consistently getting 36 mpg on the highway / 30-32 mpg combined and can get as high as 40 mpg if I do the speed limit on the highway. ;>) Having stated that, I take incredible care of all my automobiles which is a personal passion that pays dividends when I sell the car. The Soul Red exterior color, combined with the parchment leather interior is a winner. I get compliments on the looks all the time. You never get tired of looking at the Soul Red paint! The car drives well with an occasional shimmy due to front warped rotors (seems like an issue on these consumer reviews). The engine and transmission have been sublime and the suspension is perfect for this type of car (my 'other' car is a 2005 Mazdaspeed Miata so I know what a sports car should drive like). The 19" wheels with the 'hyper' finish are beautiful but the low profile tires do not protect the rims from curbs very well which is not a specific issue with this car. I'm starting on my third set of tires; Michelin Pilot Sport All Season (A/S) 3 Plus. These are the best tires I've had on the vehicle thus far; they changed the handling dynamics for the better. For the money, Mazda seems to have figured out how to make cars that are fun to drive, economical to keep and beautiful to look at. A triple threat! Highly recommend this car over the usual suspect competitors from Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, Ford, etc. which are all great cars but not as good as Mazda, IMHO.

We have large active teen boys. I needed something comfortable yet fuel efficient. This vehical has suited all our family needs. The LARGE trunk spaces is amazing for all their practice gear and we even take the car camping over the truck. Kids are very comfortable in the back and vehicle is super easy to clean and keep smelling fresh. Car gets great gas mileage so its perfect for long or short trips. Its looks nice and sporty so I feel like the "cool football Mom". Only complaints are when starting the car it is loud. My understanding "its a Mazda thing." Second and last the Bluetooth goes out. Dealership says thats a Mazda thing too. When it fails we have to unplug the battery to reset the vehical. Works fine for months after. I wish Mazda would make that right.

Awesome Mazda6 GT

I owned the Mazda 6 Grand Touring sedan for 5 great years. The car had zero problems except a couple minor recalls. Only went to dealer for routine maintenance. Although a bit noisy on the road, the 2.5 skyactiv drivetrain worked great. Averaged low 40s for gas mileage on highway. Leather interior was of high quality. Car handled well. Only issue was replacing the 19 inch tires which were a little expensive. Would recommend to anyone looking for a bulletproof sedan that is fun to drive.

Bought my 2014 Mazda 6 Touring (with tech package) one year ago. It had 17K miles and I have about 34K now. I chose the 6 over a 2012-2013 Maxima, 2012 Acura TL, and 2011/2012 Infiniti G37. While those other cars might give a little more in acceleration, the cost for premium gas and lower gas mileage was one main reason I chose the Mazda. I have been getting about 28mpg (40% hywy/60% city) and even though gas is pretty cheap now, I like that I can save a little by not paying for premium gas. I did drive all the other cars I was considering, and the only big difference was the acceleration from the G37. That car was wicked fast and tempting, but at my price point, the Mazda allowed me to get a newer car with way more miles left on the comprehensive and powertrain warranty. The G37 also had very little rear seat room--I couldn't even fit my feet under the front seat (when sitting in the back) because the motor for the power front seat leaves no room. The back seat of the Mazda 6 is better than any of the other options I considered. The Mazda will probably save me $ on the speeding tickets I would have gotten in a G37 as well. Ultimately, the Mazda was my practical choice. It doesn't have the power or prestige of the other cars I considered, but it handles really well, accelerates fast enough, has a great interior--feels like a luxury car to me--and has enough features to satisfy a driver coming from a 2006 Mazda three with no power features. Other thoughts: Like most say, the infotainment center is underwhelming and the Tom-Tom navigation is not user friendly. The upgraded Bose sound system is not as good as what I would expect from Bose, so it is not worth paying a lot for. You could probably do better just upgrading the speakers of the base stereo. Road noise is louder than luxury brand cars, but not a big deal for me. The control knob by the armrest is awesome, but why they did not include a volume control there is beyond me. I think they may have added one on 2015s. This is my second Mazda and I would definitely consider myself loyal to their brand now. I never had problems with my 2006 Mazda 3. If you get a 6 with the bigger rims, tires are really expensive--like $800 for four after installation. I didn't see that coming and even though the 19" look nice, I would gladly trade down to the 17" rims. I am 6'1" and the driver seat gives me good leg room while still leaving enough room behind me for my kids. Update: Feb. 2017 I have had the car for two years now and everything I mentioned above still holds true. At 48k miles and my gas mileage is down a little to 27mpg, but I don't do as much highway driving now. I did have a weird issue with the tire pressure light. It would not reset even after I had the tires properly inflated. The service advisor at the dealership wanted to charge me $130 to run a diagnostic and then at least another $60 to fix the issue (if it could be fixed in under 30 min.). I told him no thanks, did some research myself, and found that it was a scheduled maintenance notification that I could turn off myself from the info/control panel on the dashboard. So either the service advisor was stupid and incompetent for not knowing that this was potentially the issue, or he was dishonest and trying to take advantage and get his own numbers up. This is why dealerships have such bad reputations. I only went there to begin with in hopes that it might be covered under a former recall on the tire pressure monitor system. Anyway, my 6 is still a great car. Just bought a used 2012 CX-9 Grand Touring too; another good Mazda vehicle.

I love car shopping, so when the lease on my 2010 Mazda6 Touring was up, I made the rounds to midsize dealers. The Mazda/Kia/Nissan dealer offered me a better deal on a beautiful, well-equipped Kia Optima, easily the best-looking sedan this side of a Jaguar XE. So I drove it, but when I got to the corners, I noticed the Optima's handling was worse than my 2010 6. I paid a bit more for a soul red Mazda6 with the sand leatherette interior, and I agree with the car magazine editors who love its driving characteristics. With the optional tech package (a must) one gets the Bose stereo, navigation, blind spot monitoring, bluetooth, back-up camera, etc.). No issues after 20 months. Update after 32 months: Stellar fuel mileage (36 highway with 80mph speed limit). Comfortable seats. Exceptional handling. Nice automatic transmission (no CVT for Mazda), but I miss the V6. Road noise a bit of an issue, but no worse than the Accord. Bose stereo merely adequate. I doubt I would lease a newer one, since I want a car with a smooth V6. (No, Mazda, putting the turbo 4 from the CX-9 into a 2017 6 is not going to entice me). Furthermore, I dislike the new (since 2015) interior design with tacked-on infotainment screen. I only hope I can find a car that I enjoy driving as much as this Mazda6. If only I could afford to lease a Jaguar XE.
