Mazda 6 Great Buy

I am now 2.5 weeks into owning my Mazda 6 which I finnaly took the plunge when the incentives and my Ford Supplier discount made it too hard to pass-up. My Mazda 6s sedan is equipped with just about every feature available, except for the sunroof. I was disappointed that it did not have auto headlights, or delayed locks. However, I am very excited about everything else that the car has to offer. The 225 horsepower engine is fun to drive, and gives me plenty of power on my 130 mile daily commute for work. Even at 85-90 mph, there is plenty of power for passing. I am also happy with the safety features that include ABS, traction control, & 3 point seat belts in the rear.

I have owned this fantastic car for just over a year now and just love it! I have a family of 4 and have taken several long vacations in this car and there was plenty of cargo room and comfortable seating for everyone. I have had no problems with this car at all. I was a little disappointed in the gas mileage, sticker said 28 mpg and I'm getting about 22 or 23 mpg. Overall I'm very impressed with this car.

Bought at 91000 miles from owner who gave it to Coparts. I have owned 7 Mazdas since 2002 --- currently 4, 2 2003 Protege 5,2006 Speed 6 and Mazda 6 . This car built in US when Mazda and Ford were together. DON'T BUY THIS CAR. Nothing but problems. Thought low mileage like my other PR5 would be the same. Had to replace radiator, computer (had to reprogram which only dealer can do), and CATALYTIC CONVERTER. which I have done in my cars including all the Mazdas I own currently. Speed 6 with turbo bought at 90,000 miles and now 104,000 has been problem free. Guess being built in USA was noy good for this model.

This car was bought in 2007 at 180,000km. The car gave nothing but expensive bills for maintenance. One by one everything kept breaking down each month. No bill was smaller than $200. Its very consumptive of gas. It always had problems. The good side is has a very nicely designed car interior and exterior. When its working properly it can be comfortable and fun. Unfortunately Mazda failed at providing reliability - I always feared with this car if I would make it from point a to point b or not.

I am original owner with 56K miles on it and mostly commuting/hwy miles. Loaded up 6cyl. Great car when I first got it. Handled great, but after that have had problems the entire ownership experience. Have had to try multiple dealerships as their knowledge, service and work quality is terrible. Mazda Customer service not helpful. Build quality and design is not good. 15 visits a year to a dealership not unusual for bad brake system, clutch, trany, engine, interior reattles, power steering, A/C, suspension, exhaust/CAT converters, etc. Mazda doesn't appear to be quality / customer focused. Engine (Ford Duratec) needed replacement at 46K with oil changes every 3K. Same engine as Ford Fusion

I traded in a 1995 BMW M3 and I have almost no regrets. The insurance dropped in half. The comfort level increased in almost every way. I love the interior and exterior look. The trunk is extremely roomy. I have had only 2 minor problems: A squeaky seat belt and center console (fixed).

Bought at 91000 miles from owner who gave it to Coparts. I have owned 7 Mazdas since 2002 --- currently 4, 2 2003 Protege 5,2006 Speed 6 and Mazda 6 I am reviewing. Thought I bought a bad car from auction. But discovered it needed plugs and coil pack. Then after disappointment of take off I figured it was the computer even though dealerships said no. Well, it was and I bought one from salvage yard which was a lot cheaper than from dealer. Car with auto tranny with sport mode still had throttle response problems off the line. 2 major things now has corrected that problem. Cold air intake filter and update from Mazda with the auto tranny mode. Mazda realized there was something wrong with take off to have update. Now the car has good take off and like all owners who have given reviews, once it hits 2500 rpm, the engine comes alive. Using the sports mode also gives a great feel but the update of auto tranny mode lets the car take off a lot better in auto mode. And when you put the foot into it when getting on freeway, the car will stay in 2 gear to 6,000 rpm to give power. Leather interior is almost exactly to my Speed 6 including the Bose speakers. Only problem like most will complain is gas mileage due to 4 speed tranny. Once Mazda installed a 5 speed auto tranny, I read mileage increased. Owners with 5 spd manual say the get 27-28 mpg. I get 23-25 highway mileage which even my Speed 6 and 3 I owned got better mileage. Suspension give a tight feel in turns which is why this car was rated higher when it came out than the vanilla Honda and Toyotas in the mid sedan category. Made Car and Drivers Best 10 .

This is our 2nd Mazda6 purchase in the last 9 months (see 5 doors of fun - we previously purchased the 5-door hatch). The wagon is just as quick and as much fun to drive and I think the wagon has a quieter ride. Braking and handling is very good, wagon corners like our hatch as well. At 6'5" tall, I have all of the room I need. The leather seats are a godsend in Cleveland winters. The car looks fantastic. We receive many compliments on the 6's, from its styling to the great colors (the wagon is Steel Metallic Gray, hatch is the Blazing Copper)! If you don't want plain vanilla (Accord or Camry), grab a 6 and enjoy the zoom-zoom experience!

I'm glad I took the time to test drive all those cars because in the end I believe I got the best looking car and best value in a family sedan . Love the Bose sound system. The car handles like a sports car, with precise steering ,nice qwiet ride, loads of trunk space. Thanks Ford and Mazda.

The car has plenty of power and great MPG I avg 26-27 mpg with the V-6 something hard to find now days. The car is just right for the the new dad, that still wants something sporty to put the baby seat in. The car has been 100% reliable not a single problem and the inside of these things is so nice looks like a vehicle that would cost so much more.

Prior to purchasing the Mazda 6 I owned a 2002 Honda Civic EX and while the fuel economy was great, the Civic just wasn’t practical for me anymore i.e. size does matter. So I began searching and stumbled upon the Mazda 6 and requested a test drive. That was it. I was hooked. The Mazda 6 is a champ. Not only is it one of the sharpest affordably mid-sized vehicles on the road, it is quite the performer; very choice. May I advise anyone who is looking for an outstanding vehicle…purchase the Mazda 6. Need I say more?!

Bought this new and have over 50K on it after 4.5 years. Only issues have been an LCD display problem (very recently at the 4.5 year mark so it's out of warranty) and the plastic around the lower end of the steering wheel column rubbing against something and sometimes "creaking" very low as you drive -- otherwise the fit and finish of the car was/is excellent. We avoided the 6cyl version as that was a Ford engine with noted reliability issues. Besides being a little underpowered, the 2.3 4cyl has been excellent so we bought the same the next year in our Mazda5 (which has also been excellent after 50K miles). Overall we've been very pleased with our Mazda6 "Sport" (hatchback).

What a surprise this car has been! I searched long and hard for a replacement for my SVT Contour, and voila! the Mazda6 is my late SVT's big brother! More power and just as good handling... the price is phenomenal for this quality of a car. Many of my friends guess that the Mazda6 costs about 10-15K MORE than what I paid for it :)

Transmision seems to adjust during driving. Don't know if it a variable transmision or not. Love the interior. Cloth seats are very comfortable.

I have a 2003 Honda Accord Coupe and a 2004 Mazda6. Mazda6 wins in reliability and usability than the Honda hands down. However the Honda scores in engine power and feel of the car (partly because it is a 2.4 L coupe). I think the Honda gives a better mileage too. However the Mazda is awesome when it comes to reliability as I have not had to spend anything on it since I have owned it (fingers crossed!). I prefer the ride quality over Honda because of the quite engine and zippy steering.

I bought the GT V6 - 5 spd. Auto. with the ground effects package. It is the best handling & driving 4 dr. sedan that I have ever owned (I have owned over 60 cars). Handling is excellent, cornering is smooth & predictable. Brakes are excellent. The 5 spd. Auto. Trans. works excellent. The 6 cyl. engine has excellent power expecially for passing, mileage is good (30 - 32 m.p.g.) and the sounds it makes when accelerating are addictive. There is nowhere I would rather be than behind the wheel of this car!

I read an article about the 6 in Popular Mechanics about 2 years ago. I loved the look that Mazda was going for and if it met with expectations, it was going to be a sweet car. I had looked at Altimas, Accords, Jetta/Passat, and the overweight Camry. I was ready to go with the Altima until I drove the 6. Love at first sight and drive! I ordered one with everything I wanted and picked it up as one of the first four to roll off the line for the 04 year. I've had it 2 months and love it. Still paid a ton less than any of the other cars I mentioned with the same package. Way to go MAZDA!

I have the 3.0 V-6 Mazda 6 S. This car wants to go. You'll want to drive it in a low gear around town, so that the revs are up, and the horsepower is available. At low revs, it doesn't have much snap. But if you are cruising at 3,000 rpm, you can seriously surprise some of those high-priced sedans you're running next to.

This car is put together nicely. I can't imagine a four dour handling any better. It has okay power from a stop, but impressive power while on the move. In comparison to everything else like honda, toyata, nissan, and so forth, the 6 is a much better bargain. To get the V6 in the other competing models is much more expensive, and in the end all you would be paying for is a LITTLE more pick up from a stand still. Is that really worth a couple thousand? Not when you consder how well the 6 handles.

My only problem is the tranmission is very rough when switching gears especially in the mornings. I ahve the automatic. Other than that LOVE the car!

I agonized over my Altima vs. 6 decision last March and ended up with the Alt. Just recently, I rented for a 6 and this convinced me that I made the right choice. The 6 is nice and sporty, but the Altima is more handsome and just all around nicer to drive. I didn't like the 6's seats back then and I still don't.
