RV Towed ,DOA
My wife and I really like this SUV. It does the job, comfort, style and MPG. But when towed behind our Motorhome by the book, several times we have arrived at our destination with a dead battery in the MKX. The dealer's' say no problemo, there is nothing wrong with the suv. Just blank looks no solutions. We like the SUV but...
Love my MKX
First vehicle I have ever purchased new. Amazing in the Snow better than any other SUV's I have owned..Classy, safe, a eye turner..love it love it!!

Glads that I made right decision
Before I bought the MKX, I was about to buy Nissan Xterra. And then My dad recommend me to buy Lexus RX350 or Lincoln MKX. After I drove both then I bought MKX. Now MKX has 24K mileage, without any trouble, just oil change 3 times. Ah right, there were one problem at 22K, its steering wheel vibrated while pushing brake from 70 MPH to 0 MPH. After went to dealership for tire rotation, then the problem is gone with no charge any penny! Very happy to have MKX!
Gordon's MKX
I have been driving this vehicle for a month and it is fun to drive. The MKX is quiet and smooth riding. 23 MPG on each of two short trips. 18 to 19 MPG around town. It is very responsive when the power is needed.
Fits my formula!
I like to buy old vehicles near the bottom of their depreciation curve. I look for a high quality example that has had much TLC bestowed upon it by a caring owner. A nearby 2008 MKX I found online looked promising and indeed proved to be a true one-owner, low mileage, obviously well maintained crossover. So I bought it. After several months of ownership, here are a few observations: * The steering wheel angle and height was up in bus driver territory. Some wrenching fixed that. May not be an issue for most drivers. * The transmission shifting was a bit wonky, with slight slipping and clunky gear changes. Fixed with a fresh fluid flush and a bottle of Lucas conditioner. Back to normal now. * I love the styling, but agree with Edmunds that some components are cheap. Interior panels and outside mirrors are examples. The spare tire sits in an awful cradle of molded styrofoam. * Who at Ford decided that putting the turn signal stalk at a 45 degree angle was a good idea? * Cruise control buttons on the steering wheel are awkward to use. * The Sync electronics show their age, but work just fine once you familiarize yourself. * Love the firm, cooled (I'm in Florida), leather seats. They aren't hard as bricks, as Edmunds says, just firm, which makes them good for long distance travel. * The 3.5 V6 moves it along with plenty of zip, easily revving near 4 grand to get it going quickly. A light foot keeps it below 3,000 RPM when accelerating. * Good highway cruiser. Smooth, comfortable and fairly quiet at interstate speeds. * Brakes a just okay, with longer than expected pedal travel and only average braking action. * Good people and stuff hauler. Decent interior volume. Easy to drop the rear seats. * Gas mileage has been poor at around 17 combined. But it runs on regular gas. Some cautions to prospective buyers. Keep all fluids fresh and clean. Replacing the water pump costs big time. The panoramic moonroof will move slowly and eventually stop. Dealer mechanic advised me to keep it closed. The tranny can be problematic. Lucas conditioner and stop-slip are effective on this transmission. I consider these trade-offs to get a nice vehicle at a good price, so I'm happy with my MKX thus far! Edmunds requested update: The long brake pedal travel is a symptom of valves sticking in the ABS hydraulic control unit. Some Youtube videos claim that activating the ABS by stomping hard on the brakes will free up the valves and return the pedal to normal. I haven't done this yet. I replaced both outside mirrors with 2010 versions that have blind spot insets. Much better now. Performance remains good, with gas mileage at 18 combined. Transmission is shifting normally with fresh fluid and a bit of Lucas conditioner. No leaks on garage floor after 85,000 miles. Rear seat passengers have commented on the generous leg room. Still annoyed with the clumsy cruise control buttons, but overall happy with this car. Two year update: Brakes - flushed system & solved low pedal issue by activating the ABS a couple times. This means stomping on the brakes while on slippery surface. It does work. Pedal is normal now. Transmission - continues to shift normally after fluid replacement & adding Lucas conditioner. Cooling system - the 3.5 V6 is notorious for having a water pump internal to the engine, driven by the timing chain. A leak could put coolant in the oil and ruin the engine if not caught in time. As a result, I've changed the coolant twice and will do so every two years to keep the pump happy. Poor design but a minor maintenance issue unless it fails. An annoying squeak has developed in the headliner around the rear moonroof. Overall - everything works, no leaks, and the car has been completely reliable.
