A great car for road trips. One major unresolved issue: advised two years ago of a recall for dashboard cracks. Have received mail notices of the recall. Countless calls to dealer (Lexus of Tampa Bay) to get the new dash installed have gone nowhere. The story is they are waiting for supply from the manufacturer, give us a new date every time we call for availability of new dash. Now they don't return calls when we leave messages with the service department. As on 10/29/2016 we are STILL waiting for the replacement dash. We have been waiting over two years since the original recall notice. We would consider buying a newer version of this car but the service issue is leaving a VERY bad taste.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my RX330

I really do love this vehicle. I wasn't even in the market for a Lexus. I have owned 3 Toyota 4-Runners in the past and was looking for another 4-Runner when I found my Lexus gem. I was looking in the $15K price range and wanted leather interior and 4 wheel drive. I was not able to find a 4-Runner that met these needs in my price range. I haphazardly saw the Lexus RX330 at a dealer lot, test drove it and fell in love. It didn't hurt that it only had 65k miles and was $15K with more bells and whistles than what I was originally looking for. I wont buy anything else. I also had a great dealership to work with which helped immensely.

I've had my RX 330 2005 since November 2004 and have loved the car. I have never kept a car this long in all of my 90 years. Have the cracked leather dashboard unfortunately but in a car this old the cosmetics are much less important. I have a few cosmetic flaws myself. It's always been a pleasurable, comfortable car that's required only minimal repairs over the years. My children want me to turn it in for one with all the new safety features since I am an old man. I can see fine and am a good driver. My children have had more accidents than I have. Must mention mpg good

We bought our 2005 Lexus RX330 in 2007 as a replacement for an Acura TSX we purchased new in 2005. We are both taller and didn't like the entry exit height of the Acura and had owned several Toyotas with good luck. The Lexus is a good ride height, comfortable, with fairly decent power and economy (20 in town, 22-25 on the highway) and has been our full time driver for everything. We purchased the car at 37k miles and have over 157k on it now with our only complaints being replacing brake pads and rotors (2X), the navigation is not as easy to use as the Acura was (that's what phones are for), and our CD player refuses to give us back the 6 CD's it has in the player. We absolutely love this car and hope it goes another 100k

I'm 17 and just bought my second car, and I love it. The only complaint is the power rear door.. Maybe I just don't understand it but the key fob button and the button the dash only work sometimes. Other times It'll try to open then just close. It's fun to drive, has some get up and go when you want it. Gas mileage is great, I average 23-24 in the city, 22 maybe in heavy stop and go. I hate when something raddles or shakes and this car is very solid. Even with the bass up and windows down no annoying noises! Very clean, classy, but fun car. Also I haven't driven many cars but the few I have drove awful in the rain. This Lexus takes puddles better than my truck on 35's...

I chose Lexus from previous experience with the brand. I’m in sales and use the suv for moving samples to customers. I totally appreciate the higher upright driving position and can hop right out of the car after a few hours on the road without the stiffness I was experiencing with smaller sports sedans. This Lexus is a well built machine as it has everything I could need and more. My only complaint would be MPG could be better as so far I’m getting high teens in town and low twenties highway.

This is our 2nd RX, 1st was 2000 also bought used, now with 120,000 miles passed down to son. These are great cars, great company to work with even if there are issues; the perfect car. Crossover sits higher, easier to enter/exit, safer on road. Great in winter, fun to drive. Two recommendations: buy Certified Preowned from a dealership you trust. 2nd recommendation: do not scrimp on tires as they make a huge difference in road noise and handling. Recommended: Michelin Energy LX4. We compared the RX with a 2005 Acura MDX, which felt cumbersome with a boring exterior.

Ok, the bad -- navigation system doesn't work properly and Lexus charges too much money to update. Why bother when I can use my phone? Brakes have to be redone more frequently now. DVD player fell onto my head one day, but my 83 year old mother had driven the car preciously and there was ALWAYS a problem after she'd been in it. She probably thought it was a storage compartment and tried to open it. What the heck, my son is 17 now and has his own car, so we never use the DVD. It was always kind of a waste of money. Overall though, I have to say this car is still going strong. Still has a comfortable ride, the backup camera works fine. I paid cash, and I've gotten my money's worth out of this car. I looked at the RX 350 when a friend bought one and I liked my 330 better, so I never "upgraded." I've been in a few rental cars while on vacation and brand new cars aren't as nice as my 10 year old RX 330. I'll probably keep it til it croaks.

I sold my new and paidoff Mitsubishi Outlander Sport (4 cyl/5A) to use the money to buy my Lexus RX330. I paid about $6,000 for Lexus with 180K miles. Rest of the money about $10K I deposited to my savings account and it feels great. So far, I spent some money on front bearings ($40 per bearing and $20 per hub) and Oil (synthetic Mobile 1) after 8,000 miles ($26). Planning to replace all 4 rotors and brake pads (about $150 for everything). I like Lexus RX330 better than a For 15 yo car it has nice features and still looks fine. Engine V6 is the best engine (3.3L or 3.5 L) and it's least expensive to fix, comparing to Lexus's V8. I get 24 mpg in the city and about 29 mpg on the highway; regular gas. P.S. You should buy only original Toyota parts for this car.

I just bought a used 2005 RX330 and am so glad I did. At first, I wasn't sure I wanted anything other than a full- blown SUV, but this baby has all the interior room I need and more bells and whistles than I know what to do with. Aside from the smooth ride, great handling and spectacular amenities, there is a certain confidence and attitude that come with owning a Lexus. It is wonderful, yet hard to describe. I have received so many compliments. I have only owned it for a week, but, so far it has been excellent. I keep finding new features that blow my mind, seeing as it was so affordable.

Has not lived up to expectations (had RX300 for 6 years). Vehicle tends to pull to left (told that was "normal"), exterior door moldings do not remain secure to car (repaired 3x, still a problem), lots of rattles and noises. Driver's seat is not flush to steering wheel. No fun to drive.

I bought my RX330 about 3 1/2 months ago. Pearl White with Beige leather. Overall I am very satisfied with the RX. I think the exterior is very attractive...clean and not over the top. The interior is also very nice. The leather has held up well. The seats are long haul comfortable. The power tilt steering wheel is a nice touch. The power rear door has also come in very handy. I get a respectable 23 mpg city/28 mpg highway. The transmission is very smooth, but I feel the engine is a little underpowered. Mine has the 18" chrome wheel pkg, which seems to ride well. The dual DVD's are nice, but not something I needed. No issues with anything, and the Lexus dealer has been top notch.

Headlights tend to leak, condensation. Very expensive to replace. After a class action lawsuit, Lexus agreed to replace the headlights free, for a period of 5 years. The dashboards of this model of RX, tends to crack. Lexus has agreed to replace the dashboard free of charge. The last car I owned with a cracked dashboard was a 23 years old Ford, not bad. The last car I owned with leaking headlights was a 1965 VW beetle. My cars are garaged and are used very little. My thinking was the Lexus RX should last at least as long as the Ford. The RX is nearly 14 years old. The paint looks nearly new. Other then the dashboard, the interior looks great. I intend to keep the RX as it seems to fit my needs and is satisfying to drive.

Have had too many repairs. Radiator, crankshaft pulley, noise around the air conditioner line, all had to be repaired. I thought a Lexus would run forever with no problems if properly maintained. Very disappointed in this. Visibility is somewhat limited because of design. Disappointed and thinking about looking for something else. I thought this would be a car to last me 20 years.

I have had this car for a year now and I love it. It is fun to drive, comfortable and I am 5'8". I love the power hatch dr. That is so handy when pulling up with groceries or whatever. My husband and I love the power memory seats too. Yeah. Only dislike, that Lexus says they are aware of is with the drive. It apparently has a computer memory and memorizes how you drive and adjusts. After about a month or so our car was reving at high speed and seemed like it was stuck in a higher gear for a few before slipping down. They reset it and it is working ok again.

The car is wonderful in every aspect, however, we had to trade-in our '04 rx330 b/c of MANY problems. Transmission seems to be the MAIN weakness because of the "un-sure" gear position. The car doesn't seem to know what gear to be in to provide maximum response.

The purchase of this vehicle is now my most costly mistake. Based on the quality of Toyota trucks I have owned, I bought the RX330. The RX's interior is luxurious, and has nice features, but it is the poorest performing vehicle I've ever driven. The transmission can take over one second to shift. Very dangerous when a car is coming toward you. When accelerating on freeway, RX goes through 2 gears to find the right one. Slowest responding transmission on the market I've driven. Also the windshield fogs so severely inside that you have to constantly run the defroster which runs the A/C. Significantly reduces gas milage and visability for yet another major safety issue.

My lexus only has 74000 miles and it's done. I am more that unhappy with Lexus so much money for a LEMON. Yes it's been pampered all of its life and still give me problems. LEXUS NEVER AGAIN.

Gas filler hole too high. Map pocket redesigned to be useless. Can't open remote hatchback when car is locked--need 2 hands to silde back trunk cover (has latches). Guidance sys- seeing reverse usless-needs beeper system-300 guid/sys much easer to work. Toyota/Lexus makes the best vehicles ever. The performance, reliability and service are in a class that no other auto maker can possibly compete with. I have an RX 330 that has 35,000 miles on it that still performs like it's brand new. I purchased a new Toyota Land Cruiser in 02 that presently has 150,000 miles on it and also feels like it is still new. I have never held on to a car that has mileage past 100,000. I will never purchase any other brand!!

This car has a terrible blind spot , making it very dangerous to back out of parking lots and other road situations. No amount of luxury can compensate for this flaw. Also, it is inconvenient for me to be able to open the trunk only with a key, since I usually have my hands full with packages and the key is buried in my purse.

Typical Toyota high build quality and reliability but feels soul-less on the road. Front seat passengers seem to enjoy the vehicle more than I do. Rear seat passengers, aside from the low seat, also seem pleased. But behind the wheel, the steering is dull, the transmission/drivetrain seems to hesitate before doing your bidding. Normally, disappointment in the driving department is made up at the gas pump but not here where I see 16-17 MPG in the city and 20-21 on the highway. Oh well, at least with the Lexus name and good resale value I can probably get out of this vehicle for not much less than what I paid for it pre-owned.

This is the best car we ever had. You sit up high and get the SUV feel, but still get pretty much the 18/24 mpg advertised. It may be slightly under- powered for some, but that's the price of decent mileage. It has been completely reliable. The controls are ergonomic - placed logically just where they ought to be. One exception: the GPS navigation system is complex and somewhat counter-intuitive. Expect a learning curve of some weeks. The low-profile tires are more expensive than the regular kind, but they look great. I replaced them at Walmart in 2009 with top-quality for about $1,000. Groceries tend to slide in the cargo area - the "cargo net" sold as a $60 option is useless.

This car has been a dog since the day I got it 8 years ago. From the beginning, the car refused to accelerate. "Give it time to learn your driving habits," the dealership told me. Right. It has made an awful, grating, metallic noise every 10 starts or so right from the beginning. Dealership has been unable to diagnose why. Finally, a brake sensor has broken 3 times at a cost to replace of $300 each time. This on a car with 40K miles. I make it my mission to make sure no one I know ever buys a Lexus. What a disgrace.

This was the wrong choice for me. Driving the RX 330 for approximately two weeks I am so very frustrated. It is so uncomfortable for anyone over 5'5 to drive. I am 5'7, the seat cushions are too short - gives no support under my knees. I have to move my seat back to stretch my legs out to be comfortable and not be on top of the gas pedal the whole time, restraining my foot from laying too heavily on the gas doing so. Then I have to drive with my arms outstretched in an awkward uncomfortable manner because the steering wheel does not telescope out far enough. Told my hubby to hurry and get rid of it. I will opt for an 04 LS 430 instead now and the '10 RX 350 in four years at a used car price.

This car is overrated. We got it loaded, and that was a big mistake. All of the extra technology features, such as the bluetooth, the nav, voice recognition, and the DVD are all total junk. The bluetooth sounds terrible and is unusable. The voice recognition does not function. The nav is nearly impossible to operate--my $125 Garmin is better. The AC is not nearly strong enough for the weather in Austin which is actually not that hot compared to other parts of the south.

A van in SUV clothing

The RX 330 is a great vehicle for running errands around town. It is extremely comfortable and its looks are eye-catching. Load carrying capacity is limited by the sharply angled rear door. It doesn't hold as much as you would expect for an SUV. On the highway, it handles like a mini- van. The car-based construction makes for a too soft, underpowered ride. With cruise control on, the engine constantly downshifts at the slightest rise in the road, such as going over a bridge. Definitely needs stiffer suspension and more power.

I have owned this SUV for 5 years and no real problems. It has over 110,000 miles but keeps running.

This is the most over rated vehicle in America. Soft ride with poor road feel, underpowered, overpriced. Seats too soft. Cargo space limited. Not worth high 40's with all the toys. Cost of operation not that cheap as oil change and tire rotation is $125 every 5000 miles.

Blind spots

I love everything about this car, except the design of the back creates large blind spots when looking back and to the side. This is confounded by the driver's headrest further visually blocking the small windows between the back and sides of the car. This creates pretty thick spots where you can't easily see what is behind you and to the side.

I bought this car after owning and loving my Subaru Legacy for 10 years. I was looking for something with more luxury appointments and better dealer service. The Lexus is a marvel of technology with more toys than anyone could ever hope to use. The navigation system is great. For my personal taste though the cahas more power than it needs and this adversely impacts on the gas mileage which is about 18 on the road. Rear visibility is bad but the large side view mirrors help quite a bit. The high center of gravity makes the car feels tippier than the Subaru but not nearly as bad as an Isuzu Trooper that I used to drive. The quiet and quality of this automobile is outstanding.

I love this car. I enjoy the comfortable feel of the suspension. I feel like I'm floating on air. I love the fact that I have a cassette, CD changer and a DVD. WOW.

I was interested in a Buick Rendevous when I test drove the RX 330. It was so much better I never hesitated in deciding on this car even though it cost more. Fun to drive, plenty of power, real quiet and decent mileage.

Fantastic automobile. Looks great and drives great! Is there any other reason to buy a car? They all get you from point A to point B, but some do it in style! With a Toyota engine under the hood, reliability is surely there as well.

I have loved this car from the start, it drives great and is a really reliable car. It has never been in the repair shop. The only problem is the hesitation i guess only in AWD models; somethings is weird with the transmission.

This car feels safe, is comfortable, and has a lot of features I never thought about before, but can't live without now. Overall though, it's my favorite car out of the ones I've had, and I'll be driving Lexus in the future.

When you drive this vehicle around town, it's just another car. But when you take it on a trip - IT'S PURE JOY! I love the nav. syst. It helps to keep me awake & alert when I'm driving through the desert to Las Vegas in extreme comfort using cruise control. On a long trip this car is a "toy". it's my entertainment, & I love it. Dual temp. control is a great feature. I inflated the tires to 37 psi & got 26 mpg without sacrificing comfort. Plenty of room for 2 sets of skiis & all our gear for a week of skiing at Las Vegas Ski Resort. No need to purchase ski rack. We needed chains for last 10 miles. No problem! We had rain in Las Vegas, Snow at Mt. Charleston, & wind on the freeway. No Problem!
