Bad Shifting
Car sounds like diesel when it is cold.Transmission slips between 2nd & 3rd gears when cold on uphill.
No Complaints
The car is a very smooth ride. Great mileage for a it's engine size. Avg 21.7 mpg overall, but it's mostly driven on roads. Freeway I typically get 30.2 mpg.

Nice to Look at
Overall it is pretty much what I expected from Lexus, except the finicky transmission. It is quiet and despite what the competition thinks of its looks it gets plenty of second looks; it's black with darkened windows and the spoked rims. It is often mistaken for the much more expensive LS by the uninformed including my boss and co-workers who ask "are we paying you too much? and "how did you afford that". If only the transmission would settle on a gear and not want to jolt my bad back when in stop-and-go traffic or even the slightest incline I would give it a strong 9. Had to have a new transmission put in at 5000 miles, new transmission only slightly better.
luxury and comfort
I got this car May 13th, to replace my 2 door coupe Acura 3.2cls,which was very sporty and had a lot of power. I was now looking for a 4 door, that was quiet and comfortable.. Well I found it. I love the plush interior and all its bells and whistles. It has the get up and go to get on the freeways.
Satisfied!
I am absolutely satisfied with this car. First of all, it is a great looking car - definitely a head turner. It is sporty with soft touches. The chrome wheels and door handles really works well together. The fit inside is impressive also. The keyless entry and startup is amazing. The GPS system with the backup camera and tilt down mirrors are great features when the car is in reverse. I personally like the lighting inside of the car - the recess lights are really cool. The automatic rain sensor wipers works exceptionally well. The ride and handling is a wonderful experience. I want to say "umm" each time I drive it.
Quiet. Smooth. Bells and Whistles.
Most features in any car in this price range, extremely happy - quiet and smooth and extremely fast. User ergonomics are simple and efficient. Seats are extremely comfortable.
Big Improvement over ES 330
I drive a Mercedes E350 wagon, this is my wife's car but I love taking it for a spin once a week. It gets 30 mpg which is definitely more than my Benz. Also it is slightly quicker with a zero to sixty run of 7.0 sec. Also many options, silky smooth leather, and a very nice console display. Half the price of my Mercedes wagon yet looks just as luxurious. Very hard to believe this car is based off a Camry.
Goodbye Acura
Driven Honda/Acura since 1986. Looked to buy RL/TL & Infiniti M35 but this car sold me, even above the GS. Hot style (finally), cool ride and luxurious all around. Sure a different feel than TL or M. But as I get older the fun of driving comes from the roominess, ease and support of having the car do more for me....and at a great price. This car is contemporary and leads the pack and for me, it also reminds me of the days as a kid when Caddys and Lincolns made heads turn by its smoothness, plushness and power. Except the ES 350 has more to boot with its Levinson and Premium package to awe you.
This is the car!
I've had my ES for a month now. The mpg on the first tank of gas was around 25. My current readings are over 28. Wow! It looks incredible in Amber Pearl. It's very comfortable for short commutes as well as longer trips. No troubles at all, and don't expect any. I'll only drive Lexus from here on out.
Best entry level luxury
This is not the perfect car for me (I'm a driving enthusiast who wants a sportier car). However, for someone who really wants a classy, reliable, beautiful car focused on luxury (my wife), this car is a good value and a good choice. I enjoy riding in the car and driving it is pleasurable for a daily commute. If great handling is your thing, look elsewhere. If you want a luxurious car with great build quality and great creature features for a good price, I highly recommend it.
Transmission, brakes, tires and rattles
I have had transmission problems from the beginning and at every 5000 mile check I have complained to the dealer. No help from them. Brakes are bad and two separate rattles have developed, one in the dash and one when the moon roof is open. The brakes are bad at 23,000 miles as are the tires which I am told need replacing.
DO NOT buy Black!
I purchased a Black ES 350. I love everything about the car except the disappointing paint color. I choose black and did not know there is not a clear coat on it. I drive 40,000/year and I have owned the car 9 months and have to get my bumper replaced & painted for the 3rd time! The paint chips VERY easily and I don't see why I should have to spend $1,000 to purchase the clear bra when I have never had to do that on the last 4 Nissan Maximas I have driven the same amount of miles per year.
Improvement On An Already Awesome Car
Superb fit and finish. Every bell and whistle you could imagine and then some. Great power from the 272hp engine and vastly improved transmission and a huge jump in mpg!!! How do they do it? Compared to other cars in the category, a steal.
"Styling Imagery"
The lexus newest generation of cars is impressive. Ride quality and sound isolation is excellent combine with suprising performance and fuel economy makes this car a real pleasure to own.
Love the new 350
I've had my car for a week and am enjoying it more and more. Learning all the technology is a steep curve for a genetic anti-technoid. I like the comfort, the body style and the Royal Red Metalic paint! It turns heads everywhere. I especially enjoy the multi adjustable seats and the quietness inside the car at speed. I'm coming off a 7 year old Viper so it may not be as noticable to you. I averaged about 27.5 miles per gallon in mixed driving and expect that will improve with a bit of mileage.
A pleasure to drive
We purchased the car in Dec 2006 and I have put about 2500 miles on the car we love everything about it. It rides great and the only slight problem we have is it is a little noisy when it is not warmed up. We get a lot of compliments on the looks of the car. This is our first Lexus after owning a Mercedes-Benz truck and an Explorer truck. The quality is much better in the lexus I would definitely recommend this car
Smooooth
We've had this car for a month now and it has been everything we could want. It's stylish, very comfortable, great handling, and fast. The best way to describe it is it is the ultimate in smooth. Every electronic feature I could imagine is included.
Best Value in a Luxury Car
Overall, the best car I have ever owned. Attention to detail is second to none.
ES 350!
This car is very smooth and quiet and has nice power. The styling is smooth inside and out, very rakish looking from the rear. I have not put a lot of miles on it yet, but I am impressed by it. It has pretty well met my expectations, it's a Lexus all the way.
Excellent car
Low noise and powerful car is my target. I found it ES 350. It's also has very good handling and it hold body tightly. Nicer look than 330, some new fancy features. Amazing gas mileage for 272 horse power
Traded in S500 Mercedes
Purchased in August 2006. Drove 3500 miles in five weeks. Can't believe what a great car in a great package. Love it, wish I had purchased Lexus before the last three Mercedes. All had too much trouble and fun was not part of driving mercedes due to always in shop. Enjoying.
Lexus ES 350 with Ultra Beats The Rest
We have 905 miles on the odometer, but there are a few problems with it. The homelink refuses to connect with our garage door system. The rear view mirrors tilt down in reverse like they're supposed to, but they don't come back up. I'm sure these problems are nothing that the dealer can't fix, but with a car in this price range, you'll expect something better. Size was the issue for us so we looked at the Audi A6, BMW 530xi, the Mercedes E350 4Matic, the Infiniti M35x, and even the Lexus GS350 awd.The ES has the best value and has the best ride for the price even though the handling can't beat some, but it's expected.
Practical, but still fun to drive
Nice handling, holds tight on corners. Enough power to feel sporty even if it is a sedan. Interior cabin is comfortable, slightly tight on head room if you are tall. All the bells and whistles for a lot less than you would pay with some other luxury brands. No real reason to buy the smaller engined GS when this has it all plus better acceleration for about 10K less.
Lovin the car
I've had the 350 for 1 month and compared to the 2004 ES 330, this car is significantly better. The transmission no longer hesitates, increased power and at least 2-3 mpg better. The screen on the Gen 5 Nav is much improved and visible during the day. Moving control to the steering wheel + bluetooth makes functions more accessible.
Awesome car
Just bought this car a several days ago and am loving every minute of it. The engine and ride are silky smooth. Interior is well-designed. Mine is the tungsten pearl (silver) with light silver interior. Exterior much improved over the old ES 330. This car is built for a younger audience unlike its predecessor. One more thing, the acceleration is superb. This ES 350 beat out the BMW 325i by .1 second from 0-60.
Just what you were promised
This car is precisely what it is supposed to be. A very quiet luxurious ride with ample power and very good gas mileage at a relatively low price.
ES 350
This is my wife's car and we both just love it. She has gotten more positive comments then she ever did on her old one. Much more upscale than the previous model with much better power and room. Also the gas mileage has been much improved in town with the new six speed transmision.
Absolutely Awesome
I have owned 2 other Lexuses and never bought new but I saw this car about 3 wks prior to knowing I was going to need a new car and I just about fell over! The body style blew me away! After looking at the pre-owned, this car won hands down with all of the changes and upgrades that have been made and worth every extra dollar! They are pkg. the car different then the brochure and give you great features std. and in the upgraded. I upgraded plus nav... all of it a must. (Didn't do the Mark Levinson system - the std. sys. seems is great!) The power is excellent and the interior is very comfortable and quiet. An outstanding car for "entry level" luxury.
happiness on wheels
The car handles great on highways and around town. The car is amazing it's new design is so fine. This car is always causing a commotion wherever I go. The car is the best driving experience that I ever had! It is good to look at and makes you feel young, this is a happier ever after experience.
Smooth ES 350
The car drives very smoothly. Before you know it you are driving 85 and you feel like you're driving 60. I started to buy IS 250 but I am glad I bought the ES 350 because it has more interior room inside car and more space in trunk. It also has smoother ride and acceleration than the IS 250.
Nicest car
Car is quiet, powerful and luxurious. I am actually getting about 35 mpg on the highway. I look forward to the drive home finally.
Quality, Quality, Quality
Definitely a quality made vehicle with all the bells and whistles for under $47K. A good long term investment that should give me years of reliability while enjoying the comfort and features of a beautiful luxury sedan, the ES 350.
'07 ES350
The car is still brand new, but we are pleased with the purchase, as well as with the ride, comfort and handling . The new ES offers a lot of near-luxury features for the money. With options, it does cost a little more than some of its direct competition, but that should be made up when it's time to trade it in. At this early stage, I'd recommend it to someone looking for a car in this segment.
Best price for luxury - bar none
I test drove several competitors during my search. Once I test drove the Lexus ES 350 the search was over. I had owned Lexus cars in the past and thought I would prefer a sportier car like the BMW however after test driving the new ES 350 I knew this was the car I wanted to drive each day to work and around town. The ES 350 provides an excellent combination of efficiency and luxury. On the efficiency side the car gets great gas mileage while having 272 HP. In addition the cost of the car is reasonable. As for luxury the car is plush with superior quality in terms comfort and ergonomics. The ride is extremely quite.
My New Lexus
I like my new Lexus, and I am having a great deal of fun driving it. I don't see a great deal of difference from my old Camry, but it's nice owning and driving a luxury car.
The Best Gets Better
This is my 4th Lexus ES and it is head and shoulders above the previous models. Tremendous value for the money with impecable quality. Quiet, with more power (thank you) and, finally, no more clunky hesitant transmission problems. This is a driver friendly vehicle, whose intent is to transport you safely, quietly and luxuriously. I have always thought of the ES as a vehicle that has great potential. Lexus has taken the ES to another level and it's not over yet.
A class of its own
Bought ES 350 after driving much of the competition. I drove this one last and quickly realized the car was ar superior to the others. It it truly luxuriuos. The leather is so soft and comfortable. The interior is high quality, with the exception of a few cheap plastic items, such as the coin & sunglass holders, etc. Drive & steering is very smooth - the other cars I test drove weren't even close. An unbelievable amount of options on this car and technology out of this world. Sports-car like power, but corners fast poorly. Quiet drive under 55. Smooth styling. Nav. well worth the money. I love cars have owned many nice ones. This is my favorite yet.
Satisfied Customer
I've had my ES 350 since 08/06. I picked the Ultra package with every available option, including the radar crash protection. It was worth the extra expense. The higher end leather is the plushest. The custom wheels add an extra dazzle. The ride is firm and compliant - not the best on corners. I couldn't be happier. My only complaints are: 1) I wanted the Sirius option and as of now my dealer says that it isn't available, but likely will be in the near future. 2) The touch button controls on the nav. system/phone system are mostly dimmed out (unworkable) when the car is in motion. Very annoying and inconvenient. 3) The bluetooth phone system has a tunnel sound.
Go Lexus!
I bought this Lexus and was SO pleased. I got it as a certified pre owned. It is a great quality car. As usual, Lexus and Toyota are ahead of the game. I strongly recommend this car!
#1 Pound For Pound & Dollar-For-Dollar
This is my 3rd Lexus and Pound-for- Pound there isn't a better car to be found. It has almost all the options found on my LS 430 and drives and rides almost as nice. The engine is extremely strong and smooth with that Lexus civility but now with true spunk and power! The styling speaks on its own. It's a beautiful car with an agressive front fascia and a gorgeous back-end. I average 24.5 mpg in mixed driving. And the high-end options normally found on top-end luxury vehicles are awesome. I even have a few options not found on my 2004 LS 430 like memory presets on the passenger side, knee bags and my favorite, the Auxilliary input jack for my iPod! This car rocks! I Love it!
Dream Car Comes True
Love my ES 350 2007, very smooth ride, perfect handling and comfortable.
Best Car in the Market at the Best Price
Love this car to death. It is an unbelievable improvement by Lexus. Love the features. No problems with the navigation and blue tooth features. It is very easy to operate that is why they say read the manual.
My first lexus
I have driven this car for only a few days now, having driven a BMW for several years previously. The Lexus is not only more comfortable and quiet but seems more powerful and handles as well. My gas mileage is actually better than listed. The best car I've ever driven.`
ES 350
A smooth, comfortable ride, without sacrificing too much in the way of handling. Coming from a BMW convertible, I miss the sharp cornering, but I love the smooth quiet ride. Much better on the freeway. The premium stereo is all anyone needs. Plays mp3 disks, so with 6 disks, you can load about 1000 songs at one time. Nav system works like a charm.
It's a blessing
This is my first brand new car, and to drive it is so much fun, it's very comfy and looks good too. The only problem I have with the car is that there are too many of them around now. Copycats! Also, I use to drive like a racer before, but this car definitely calms you down and encourages you to enjoy the ride. Absolutely love it.
Good for Gadget Geeks
This car, loaded with high-tech features, offers a smooth, comfortable driving experience. Driving it has a "liquid" feel, with steering, braking, and acceleration smoothed out. However, you *do* feel the road beneath you; you're not so totally cocooned that you can't tell when you're going over cobblestones or speed bumps. The engine has more horsepower than earlier ES models, and there is an all-new 6-speed automatic transmission. Mine *did* require servicing within the first month to fix a brake rotor that was not machined properly and was causing a moaning sound; however, it's worked fine after the servicing.
Love it!
I'm very comfortable in my ES 350. Smooth, quiet ride. Nav system is great. Sound system is pretty good but could be better. Love my back up camera. Only complaint is that I can't seem to get climate controls to a perfect temp for me, but LOVED the air conditioned seats this summer -- keeps you from sticking to leather, ladies. This is my second ES and I'd recommend it for someone who wants luxury but can't afford or doesn't want to spend the extra for a better Mercedes or BMW. My husband has complained about the voice recognition but it's just operator error. Overall, I love it. Got a great color, too, Amber Pearl and people compliment it all the time.
Buy one
The ES 350 is again designed to be a smaller LS package. Most features found on the LS line are also available or already on the new ES. Ride is excellent, looks great. Could do without keyless issues but getting used to that.
Best in its class!
After driving much of the competition, we decided on the ES 350. It was leaps and bounds above any of the vehicles that we drove in luxury, performance, and comfort. It drives and handles like a dream, is extremely comfortable to travel in and has all of the incredible amenities you could want. Drive a Lexus and you will buy one. These cars sell themselves.
To Date, A Great Car
The new ES 350 has been a great car to date. If you're looking for an entry level luxury car at a decent price, it's definitely worth a look. It can get pricey with all of the options, but if you watch it, it's actually a pretty good value in this segment. Ride, handling, performance, build quality and gas mileage have not disappointed. Although our car still has very few miles on it, I would recommend it. Worth a look and a test drive. It might not match some "sports sedans" in all areas, but I think it's an overall very good performer that will hold it's value well and be satisfying over the long run.
