This car is great except...
I have a major problem with the paint chipping on this car, I think its absolutely ridiculous that everyday I have another chipping on the hood of my car, and it only had 76,000 miles on it when this problem beagn. I have read other reviews and people have the same issue. it takes away from the value. In addition I have replaced the transmission and water pump. I get regular oil changes every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. I wish I could get another paint job, I would feel so much better about the money I've spent on repairs.

Nightmare!
Bought it when it had just 70K on it, and now at 75K it has had: TWO oil changes (leaking oil internally), Heater Coil replaced (no heat most of the "worst winter in HISTORY"), Thermostat replaced, Coolant/Coolant Housing replaced (it's now low again) has a very loud piston-slapping coming from engine (sounds like a diesel), and currently needs spark plugs (supposed to be changed at 120K) and an o2 Sensor. Not to mention the VERY soft paint (chips everywhere), the fact that it eats brake pads, and will most likely [non-permissible content removed] on me very soon (any day now). I am never buying a Lexus again, this car SUCKS! Lesson: I should have bought the Infiniti

Expected Better
Bought the car as a certified unit at 18K miles. Rattles in the dash and driver's door almost immediately. Loud knocking from injection system (I'm told) when the engine is cold. Parts of the car sound "tinny" when bumped or doors are shut hard. Poor lighting inside and particularly in the rear seat area. Console storage is poor due to unusual access method. The door panels and door sills should be something other than plastic which is easily marked during entry and exit - carpet would be nice - not up to the quality of design I expected from Lexus.
Disappointment
There so many unexpected repairs on the car. Lexus have a good reputation to be very reliable. But didn't expect to have several unscheduled, unexpected repairs. I am so lucky to have purchased a extended warranty. I would suggest to get an extended warranty to all future buyers. Try to look for a warranty that would be good for 200,000 miles. I am very, very disappointed in purchasing this car. I am not sure if I would purchase another Lexus, especially this is my first time to purchase one. I am not sure how Lexus, a high-end automobile company, could sell such a defective vehicle with less than 100,000 miles with a repair list that is too long to list in this box.
From MBZ to Lexus
I have had the car now for about 3 weeks. Since day one, I have had nothing but pleasure. I traded in a 02 CL500. Sure new it was 90K but this Lexus for the $$ is well worth it! This is a great car.
Glorious Automobile
Gorgeous Royal Ruby Metallic ES 350 purch'd in Newport Beach, CA, Oct. 2006. Not easy finding this color with all the extra features. ES has full Ultra-Luxury Pkg, chrome wheels, window tint, and satellite radio. Looks like a fine piece of jewelry. ES replaced 88 Cad, Eldo, and beats Eldo hands down for fuel economy, acceleration, ride (YES!), and features. Love all the techie gadgets/features; discovering more each day. This car can play CDs, DVDs (also movies on 7" screen), and MP3 & WMA audio. Made a music CD in *.wma audio that contained 10 hours of music. Played beautifully in the Mark Levinson audio system.
Outstanding Performance & Value
This car is everything you can ask of a comfortable luxury sedan: quiet, roomy, fast (0-60 in 6.8 sec), safe (12 airbags, traction control, stability control), comfortable w/luxury touches all over (smart key, real walnut wood trims, air cooled seats). All of this at a cost in the mid $30s with the gas mileage ratings unmatched by anything in its class. It is also the most reliable manufacturer as rated by Consumer Report Magazine. My wife and I had this car for over a month and we are very happy with it - it provided everything we expected and more.
I would purchase a Lexus with my eyes shut .

Eh...not so great
This is my second Lexus. Had a 1997 ES300 that was really reliable. Got another newer model in 06 and was never happy with the quality. There were somethings that were just down right cheap and the car was built so that even minor repairs required 18 hours of labor to reach the places that need fixing. Fuel pump went out quickly (replaced under warranty). Flimsy plastic headlamp connector broke when changing a burnt out bulb ($800 to change a light bulb, really?). Final straw was a $250 AC condenser coil went on what was still a "young" car. $1800 in labor later decided enough was enough. Traded it in for a BMW 5-series as my wife has had great luck with her last 2 Beemers.
I really have no Complaints One of the the better cars i have owned
I have gone through many car's in my life. I am hard on car's i admit so that is no help to me when it comes to them. Any issues that i have had with this car have only been caused by issues that i feel would have been appropriate for the miles.I bought my 07 Es350 in Feb of 2013 with 44k. It is now 17 months latter. i have put 40k on the car. When it was still under factory warranty the passenger front axle boot was leaking Lexus Fixed it best experience i ever had when having to have a repair done. just 2 month ago with 80k on the car My Extended service Contract Replaced the Front and rear Struts all 4 of them needed replacing. at 81k the W/P warranty covered it
The ES350 IS AGREAT CAR.
I have had a lot of car in my life. Mercedes sl, Toyota Supra , Corvette....And this car is right up their in Quaility.

This car is all over the place....
Bought the car in 06. Needless to say I'm very disappointed. The car has a nice looking exterior, great stereo and terrific gas miles (26 plus). That is where it ends. Since the first month I noticed paint chipping and scratches. I thought is was bad road luck. Then more started appearing along with blotching. I barely drive the car and never on dirt roads. It's garage kept. I have a Hyundai with 100k that gets driven every day and no front chips or scratches. The seats are very uncomfortable and feel like your sitting in a hole. I have always had rattles in dash and under carriage and door seat position buttons have always had problems and now don't work. Plus poor int lite + button design.
Too early to tell
I purchased a certified 2007 ES350 in Oct. 09. So far so good. Got 33 mpg on only trip. Low 20's in local driving. One gripe is having to keep 36 psi in tires. On smooth surfaces fine, but do notice every glitch in road surfaces. Dealer says they put at least 36-37 in to avoid low tire pressure light coming on. Why? Door indicates should be at 30 psi. Being certified a lot of things were fixed, new tires, brakes etc. before purchase. I'm also concerned about the massive recall of ES350's along with other Toyota models for sudden acceleration problems. Many unrelated to the floor mat problem that has received most of the press. Visibility as many have noted is not great.
LIKE BUDDUH
I purchased my 07 ES 350 after totaling my Cadillac STS. This is a near-perfect balance of comfort, QUIET ride, economy, performance, amenities, and quality!!
Purchased ES 350 9/06
After owning an Acura 3.0 CL for the past 10 years, this car is an obvious improvement. I drove the BMW 3 and 5 series and Mercedes and I feel the Lexus is a better ride with superior interior features. Car rides very smooth and is overall quiet. I am very picky with interior noise and upon quick acceleration, the dash creaks, but not enough to warrant huge concern. Quality of the interior with the navigation system is unbelievably cool. Pretty easy to operate and the chick voice on the navigation system is not nearly as annoying as a wife giving you driving instructions. It is much more accurate than I believed it would be. It is fun to drive and all controls are within reach.
One of first built
This is not my first Lexus and the only problem is the car has developed squeaks and rattles, sounds like the whole panel has a body flex when going over bumps. The whole panel behind and in roof sounds as if it is bending and making a terrible noise. It has been back to dealer and they have replaced seat and other parts still the same noise rattles/vibrates when I turn. I have stopped using the car 7,000 km in the last year used to be over 20,000 km. Great performance. I have only used premium and it returns great gas mileage. It takes several tries for the voice-recognition system to work. I will most likely go back to Infiniti.
Lots of rattle
Bought the ES 2 weeks ago. Today was the 3rd time it went back to dealer. Lots of rattles from front passenger door, front deck (stereo area), rear deck (seat belt). I was driving their loaner ES 350. That car has nearly same rattles as mine. Rattling is the problem you can't find during test drive. After you take the car, if there's a rattle you need to locate a more precise spot so that it may be easier for their technicians to find and fix. Really doubt about Lexus's quality. Others than rattling, I enjoy my ES very much. Fast and comfortable.
I love this car
My Lexus ES 350 is very nearly perfect. I love the clean functionality, the comfort of the car, and the driving ease. My mileage in stop-and-go traffic is near 20 mpg; my weekly commute and around town driving is near 26 to 27 mpg, at 55 mpg the mileage is in the 33 mpg range; and at a long-distance 75+ mph the mileage is 29 to 31. The mileage is better if I can buy gasoline without ethanol. My only issue is that the front head room is not adequate, but not enough for me to trade this car.
Don't buy an ES 350
My first experience as a Lexus owner has been a nightmare. I have had one problem after another with the car (transmission replaced, non-functioning voice response, navigation system, Bluetooth, tire pressure sensors, etc.).
ES 350
My car is an 11/06 build w/o Nav. This car is very smooth and comfortable, a solid and quality build. It takes a second or two for the car to accelerate after I mash down on the pedal, but after I learned the car's quirks I have found it to be responsive. I haven't experienced any of the transmission issues of earlier models; however, I have discovered a definitive wind noise which emanates on the drivers side window between the A-pillar and the middle of the door. I have taken the car back to the dealership to investigate the problem but so far no luck in solving it. I am afraid that this is a design/engineering issue rather than a build issue. Great exterior styling and interior design.
ES350 Paint Issue
Have an 2007 ES350 that has a paint chipping and rust issue on the hood of the vehicle. Originally from Florida and now in New York. One winter and the hood has large paint chips and rust. The rest of the vehicle is fine. The dealer and Lexus tried to repair with bottled touch up paint but it raised the paint around the damaged area making it look worse. Lexus closed the book on this and said we are on our own to repair. Very disappointed with the attempt to repair. Paint and rust warranty is basically none.
Upgrade from my special edition Camry
What an upgrade so far. Ultra-powerful if you compare to 4 cylinder Camry. Nice black leather interior with metallic ruby exterior. I drive highway most of the time this one do the job perfectly and only put premium gas on it. Superb performance 31-32 mpg so far I would get set of new tires to avoid annoying road noise. I love it so far
Great car
I bought a loaded ES350 with 30,000 mi, car was about as perfect as you could expect with 30,000 mi. Hway MPG about 32 (amazing). Quiet, very comfortable, great car for trips & around town and handles better than you would expect from the reviews. Not a sports car (I already own one) just a beautiful, comfortable car & ride. I have owned Acura's & Infinity's, this is the best.
Lexus Platinum Service/Until you need it
Transmission was bad off showroom floor. It was my wife's car and I never drove it and would not believe her Lexus transmission was bad until we took it in for service at 3000+ miles. Transmission jump in first almost caused my wife to rear end car in stop & go traffic. The transmission had to be replaced requiring entire motor & front end to be dropped out from underneath. Not a happy camper!
Good and Bad
Very smooth transmission. Great, quiet ride. Great radio and sound. I expected more than cardboard on door panels. Flimsy glove compartment door, trunk lid. Not enough front seat thigh support. Navigation system a colossal disappointment. It is practically useless outside major metro areas. Pretty picture, though. No way to open trunk if power lost. Fold down rear seatbacks with full access to trunk would be great. Front end too low, scrapes most curbs. Fatter tires would give even smoother ride. Roof line too low for tall people. Does not come with body side moldings, door sides are naked to damage. Support has been minimal from Lexus headquarters and dealership.
Awesome car
I've never been so excited about owning a new car but this car is just AWESOME. It's very comfortable, it has great interior features, and it looks much better than the old ES. The navigation system is just fantastic. I'm very satisfied with this purchase.
Okay car
Pretty car. Great for long trips. Loud clicking in the engine until it warms. Taken to dealer several times and they report that it the noise is normal. However, loaner cars do not make that noise. Car has several rattling noises and is poorly insulated from road noise. Poor thigh support. Poor rear vision. Love the keyless entry. Love the large trunk.
ES 350
My first Lexus. Very comfortable and quiet. Great fuel economy 23/31 for a large, comfortable car. Quality design. Disappointed in the thin paint, rock chips are very noticeable and the Michelin tires won't make 30,000. Large ugly mirrors to compensate for the thick roof supports. The wireless voice commands don't always do voice recognition. Expected more for $40K.
First Impressions
I spent several months researching a car purchase, and decided on the ES 350 in stead of the sportier Acura TL. After driving 1 week, here are my impressions: The NAV system is the worst of all the 6 car makes I test drove. Voice recognition is useless at best. Took 12 tries to get my home phone right. Cannot adjust the NAV while driving. If NAV is important to you DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!. Very smooth ride as I expected. Good performance and acceleration for a luxury vehicle. Very poor center console. Difficult to use and little storage space.
Looking for more in a Lexus
First Lexus. Great exterior look with sun and moon roof. Poor exterior paint quality and interior quality not what I expected for a Lexus. Tires did not last as expected. Overall, few problems just a little disappointing. Nav of little use- maps not up to date and system not user friendly.
Great all around vehicle
Roomy, smooth, peppy, quiet, greatly improved styling - everything you could ask for except high performance. This car grows on me each time I drive it. I've been surprised by the many compliments I've received on the looks of the car. The exterior lines combined with dual exhausts finally make the ES a more masculine vehicle. Surprising amount of technology for the price. This car is a great overall value. Lexus finally got the ES right.
First Lexus, but not the last
Purchased this fantastic car on 9/26/2006. What you immediately notice is how quiet the car is. Once you start to drive the car, you will marvel at the incredibly smooth ride. The car glides down the road as if it were on a cushion of air! The steering is quick giving the car a surprisingly agile feel. Maybe the IS 350 was meant to be the sportier car, but the ES 350 is no slouch! The car is quite fast off-the-line. The seats are extremely comfortable. If you like being pampered at an affordable price, this car is definitely for you. My wife chose the "Golden Almond Metallic" color and it looks terrific in the sun. Haven't met anyone who doesn't like this color once they see it!
Lexus or over-priced Camry?
Smooth, strong engine. Transmission sluggish. Nice fit & finish. Competent ride, marginal handling and braking, very light steering. Speedometer error, reads high, about 10-12%, true fuel mileage is less than indicated. Significant tire noise on rough surface roads is not "Lexus quiet." Paint is very soft, it chips and scratches easily. Not comfortable for most people over 6' tall, especially the driver seat, marginal headroom. The more you look at the interior the cheaper it appears such as door panels, carpet, glove box, dash. Dealer and Lexus support not impressive. Read the Privacy Policy, Lexus may share your personal info including SSN with anyone. Sold the car after 9 mo.
2003 Lexus ES 300
I have 160k on my 2003. I bought this because I was tired of my Xterra's hard suspension. So I wanted a reliable and comfortable car. I thought the reliability would be bullet proof. Ok so it is reliable. Except at about 90k my battery died. So I immediately bought a new one on the same day. Next day battery died again. So I did recharge and never had prob again. I also had to replace the A/C at 90k. Other than that, the rear right window won't go down. So I guess you may say that I've been fortunate.
Very disappointing
Very smooth and comfortable ride, but overall very bland. The experience is ruined by a hopeless navigation system that falls way short of Garmin or even mapquest. The dealer has looked it over many times and confirmed "it is what it is". It only seems to want to calculate straight line routes, even if highways are much quicker. The iPod connector is also buried in the center console - which is a really awkward design anyway. A lot of the components and switches have the same look and feel as a Toyota Prius. I wish I had gone for the BMW instead.

So this is a Lexus?
Have driven this car for 6 months and agree that it is well built, comfortable and devoid of any driving sensations. My car has the throttle lag, noisy engine at start-up, rain-sensitive wipers that cannot understand when to stop wiping and consequently smear the windshield, rattles in the passenger door, etc., etc. I will definitely look at Cadillac next time!
Awesome Upgrade
This is my second Lexus in my driveway (first is a GX) and apart from some headroom concerns for tall people and the lock on centre armrest that needs a location change, this is a luxurious and nice car. It is almost fully loaded and is a nice mix of features and value. It is a great handling car. We recently went on a 450 mile trip and it handled like a dream. I do not undertand the negative tranny press, because it seems to shift very well and effortlessly. As for purported wind noise, well, there is nothing excessive - indeed, it is very quiet. Now, I will admit that if you want a sports car this is not for you, but it is a great family of four vehicle that makes traveling easy and fun.
It's Just A Pricey Toyota
Very disappointing vehicle. I was looking for an upscale car that would offer low cost of ownership. This car has been very expensive to maintain and has required some costly repairs, including brakes and rotors. Very poor lighting in the cabin at night. Even the kids complain about the lack of lights. Switches are not backlit so finding the right switch is difficult. The temperature controls are absolutely horrible. Has independent temp control for passenger and driver but there is no correlation between what you set and what it delivers. It's as though the sensor is on the outside and not in the cabin. The voice recognition for the phone is mediocre at best. Paint chipping on hood.
Tranny problems
I purchased a new ES in 06/07. At 500 miles the tranny froze. It took about 3 months to get a new replacement car. The new ES still misses the shifts between 2nd & 3rd gear. There is NO FIX - this is a manufacturing defect with the tranny. I can't wait to get rid of it.
My dream come true
This car is by far the best car I have ever owned. It looks great, and is VERY reliable. I have now owned the car for about 4 weeks, and I'm still like a kid with a new toy, when I'm driving it. I love the quality of the materials used inside - ie, the leather seats. I love the navigation system with its backup camera. The sound system is exellent And the engine isvery powerful, much more than you'll ever need. I also like the keyless entry/ignition system. But most of all, I think I like the overall look of this gem. It is a GREAT car. And I think with the reputation of LEXUS, I can sleep good at night
They did it again
I had the original 1990 LS 400 and this beats it handily for less money. Got one loaded and could not be happier. Very comfortable with plenty of power and great looks. This car is actually a real bargain.
My ES 350
I've been driving Lexus since 1999 and I think now I'm hooked. I love the car! For the price I rate this car better than the test drive my wife and I had in the 5 series BMW. The car is just all upgrades to say the least. You need the Navigation system even if you know your town like the back of your hand. My overall driving experience is at an all time high. Luxury I finally feel value in paying for. If you're thinking about anything else in the price range, forget it! I even like my ES 350 over the GS 300 because it's just so grown up. The only thing I would do different is get it loaded and not just with Navigation, but after the test drive I couldn't wait! Neither should you and your family!
2007 ES 350
When I was in the dealership looking at the I S250 the ES 350 arrived. MY GOD what a car! This car is the best entry level luxury vehicle ever sold. I was really going to buy the TL, but I ask any person who is not visually challenged which vehicle looks best? ES350! And the ride is perfect!!!
Nice Car, Nice value
Very well built machine with excellent design and power. Very roomy for midsize sedan with good room in back seating area. 3.5 (272hp) engine provices excellent acceleration and smooth power. At 80 mph it seems like you are doing 50 mph. Car is very quiet and smooth. Seating is excellent. Trunk has good space (fits 3 golf bags with ease). Finish is excellent and everything seems to fit.
Pleased
This car has everything you would want in a car. When you need power it is there. The ride overall is very comfortable. With the front seat back there is still plenty of room in the back seat. The trunk is larger than it looks from the outside. The car holds the road very well. My only real complaint is the sun roof. I get a lot of road noise with the lid open. Close the lid and the noise just about stops. Would I buy another Lexus, I sure would. I avg. about 26 mpg in town and over 30 on the open road.
Very nice!
This is quite possibly the best car in its class. We looked at the Mercedes E350 and the BMW 325i and the Lexus just blew them away. This feels a lot more luxurious and roomy than those other sedans, and it's got great power. The updated navigation system is very and clean crisp to look at, not to mention that it's a touch-screen system, so it's a lot more intuitive to work with. The stereo controls are all nicely laid out on the steering wheel, just like they were on my old Mercedes E320, so that's a big plus. It comes with all the luxury features you'd expect from higher end cars, like auto lights, auto windshield wipers, cooled and heated seats, compass, cd changer, rear camera, memory seats, bluetooth, etc. And it's so roomy in the back seat and trunk! This car rocks!
Just what you were promised
This car is precisely what it is supposed to be. A very quiet luxurious ride with ample power and very good gas mileage at a relatively low price.
My first Lexus
Fell in love with the car when it was introduced at the Chicago autoshow and it's living up to my expectations. Quality of materials used is excellent and the ride is superior to anything I test drove. This is the complete package - power, luxury and realability. I'm 6'4" and fit very comfortable as do my rear passengers.
All I Can Say is WOW
Having had 2 Lexus automobiles previously (both ES 300s, one a 2000 and the other a 2003) THIS 2007 KNOCKED MY SOCKS OFF. The styling, the comfort, the ease of driving, the fun of driving are not enough superlatives to describe this car. I have the ultra luxury package which was more pricey, but the additional cost was well worth it. The air, the upholstery, the back up camera, the rotating headlights, the nav system and the sound system are incredible. This car is everything I expected and then some. BRAVO LEXUS.
