Used 2006 Jeep Commander Consumer Reviews
Oregon Trail
We just got back from a 6,000 mile trip following the Oregon Trail, including the original "Old Barlow Road" around Mt. Hood. Our Jeep had never before really been put to the test, but it performed flawlessly on this trip on everything from Interstate HW's to boulder-strewn primitive roads. I wish it got better mileage, but it was reassuring to have the power of the 5.7 liter when passing or traversing some of the primitive roads we followed along the Oregon Trail. We put on 6,000 miles from Missouri to Oregon passing through 10 states, keeping to 2 lane and dirt roads as much as possible. Our worst day was 15.2 mpg. Our best was 18.2 mpg.
Great fun to drive Jeep.
I got 5.7 Hemi. Great driving experience. Permanent 4X4 + rack and pinion steering + relatively firm suspension make handling just great . I used to have Yukon Denali 2001. If it goes over 85 you have to grip the wheel. This one, I tried even 110 mph. Rides smooth!!!. Breaks are also good. Perfectly drives on snow. Of course you have to watch for a body roll. But, hey, it is SUV not a Corvette. Had Ford Expedition 1997 and Yukon Denali 2001, this rides the best. With my medium heavy foot I still get 15.9 on highway. City is around 15. My wife with her not so heavy foot can get 17.5 on the highway. Seats are very comfortable.

Loving my Jeep Commander!
I love this vehicle. It has brought my family so much fun. We have discovered parts of Long Island that we never new about. It is an animal on the beach. I have never had any problems at all. This jeep runs great. We bought it as a demo with 9,000 miles on it. It is terrific in all kinds of weather. Snow is not an issue, you feel completely safe driving in it. It is easy to drive and the rear back up sensors are the best. The third row is a bit tight for teens and adults. Smaller children have plenty of space. You feel nothing but a smooth ride. The V8 has a lot of power and pulls our 5,700 lb. travel trailer with no problem. I love this jeep and recommend it highly.
Gas Guzzler
Great fun driving vehicle. The Hemi has an abundance of power but hesitates around sharp curved hills. I live at the gas pumps, on the average $125 weekly and I work only 15 miles from home. The back up assist is very helpful; a lot of blind spots. water and snow build up at the top of doors, so every time you open the door after rain/show the seats gets soaked and if your not careful so do you. It is like an avalanche of weather on your heated seat or on you. Small bugs but overall I love the vehicle. Very sporty and turns alot of heads while driving.
new Commander
It has such a smooth ride it is difficult to tell how fast you are driving. It has great luxury inside and a rough macho exterior.
