I have owned this car for about a year and a half ~36k. I loved the way the new Hyundais looked and I decided on the Accent. I got a silver SE trim. I love black interior, fog lights and rims. MPG's aren't that great for such a small car. AVG is 27/36 This is a great handling car. Engine is a bit noisy, however it is very responsive and you can really get up and go when needed. Drove this thing from Maryland to California and it did great. After about 10k I drove through a pretty deep puddle during a hurricane and the engine was damaged (my fault 100%). I ended up having to replace the engine. Hyundai wouldn't cover it because it was "water damaged," but my insurance did cover it.

Excessive Oil Consumption

Bought used at 87,800 miles. At 95,000 miles, the red oil light came on when making u-turns. Found out the oil was low and discovered after several months of self-testing that the car was burning oil. No physical leaks were found. Also, P0326 and P0130 came up frequently around that mile mark. Later, the 3rd coil pack blew. Later the P0269 came on and blew the third fuel injector. If you are buying a used car, be aware of the oil consumption issue. The engine is dying. Still going post 125,000 miles.

Engine manufacturing defects

I bought my Hyundai in August 2013 with 16,000 miles on it. In 2014 it began making a whiney noise when accelerating. By 2016, the noise was happening frequently, and the car seemed sluggish. November 2016 I brought it into the dealership, and they replaced the small engine block. Now, May 2017, the same noise has returned!! This is an unacceptable defect in the engines, they need to be recalled!!

I've now owned my Accent for 2 weeks and I have nothing but good things to say about my purchase. The styling is impressive and they have definitely stepped up in terms of overall quality and features for this model. I love the Eco and the MPG feature that helps me with gas mileage and all of this without affecting the torque. They added the features that are available on the higher end models in their smaller model and it makes for a great little car. The engine has the same power as my 2006 Elantra had and it drives smoothly all around. The only issue I would pass on is the comfort of the headrests, which I got used to quickly. My wife not as much, but all in all the comfort is there

No Spare Tire, Give me a break.

After we got a flat about 100 miles from home, late at night, I discovered that the car didn't come with a spare tire or donut. Spent a fun filled night at a motel dive waiting for the tire store to open the next morning. I'd like to know who the genius is at Hyundai that made the decision that a spare tire shouldn't be a standard item in their vehicles. This should be illegal. At least I now know what type of car I won't be buying next time.
