A decent little economy car

I have owned my Accent since 2015, purchased with 130k miles and now have 170k miles. It has always burnt oil, though not too fast. It also has always had an engine knock when started in cold weather. Apart from these two caveats it has been a great car. The tires for the 14" rims are dirt cheap, as is everything with the car. It has never been in the shop for major maintenance, all that has been replaced is the evap solenoid ($30 for an original hyundai part, 5 minute job). I average 30mpg in mostly city driving. It is a spirited little thing with the 5 speed manual. Its no race car, but it definitely is geared like one (nearly 4000rpms on the highway at 80). The car does best in city driving, and gets blown around substantially on the highway. The utility of the car is great for its size, the seats can be folded nearly flat and allow quite a large load. Overall I think this car is a good purchase. Resale values are very bad, but at this point it would only help a person purchase a car near the end of its life cycle. It is well built and has not degraded much over the 8 years I have owned it. I have decided to move on from mine due to having a baby (crash test scores are a little scary), hopefully it continues to serve someone else for many years.

I purchased 2008 hyundai accent last year with 107000 mile on it after comparing with Honda fit which had ridiculous used car price. When comparing on computer, Honda fit looked way better car in every segment, mpg, space, safety and fun... However, price difference of two used cars made me go and find decently looking Hyundai car which is more than a couple of thousands dollar cheaper, 2008 accent 3 door, 13 year old, almost 110k mile on it. I did not much expect from this cheap one until test drive. But, the moment I start driving, I feel solid handling in local and freeway. Wau.. even though acceleration is very slow on freeway but, later on I got to know, that to turn off overdrive s/w or push all the way down the trottle makes it sport car, boom.. so fun.. Regarding milage, 32-35 per gallon which is pretty good to me. Also a lot of features, 6 air bags, solid bucket seat, abs, 16" alloy wheels, icy cold a/c, sport suspension and easily accessible engine room for regular maintenance. I have driven more than 20 cars in my life including my semi truck and 8 cylinder sport coup. This Hyundai accent 3door is my favorite car among them.I strongly recommend this precious stone Hyundai made.

Going great

Bought this car for commute (manual). Has 290,000 km on it now. Still going great. Good handling. Conferable ride and no major repairs. I'm surprised by its reliability. As everything's still working perfectly on it, I'm confident it can easily reach 400k if not more.

Great little car

I have had my Accent for over a year now, I bought it when gas was near $5.00 a gallon. The car is great for running around town in but not so good on the freeway, I am getting 26 and 32 MPG. I still like the car but it has some flaws. The 5 speed is a must but the clutch really takes some time getting use to, the plastics of the interior are the worst I have ever seen, scratch very easily, the ride is quite and comfortable but you do feel most of the bumps and holes in the road. Reliability has been outstanding so far and still have no rattles. If your on a budget or looking for a cheep 2nd car then this is a good choice.

Horrible Car

We have owned the car for 1 year and almost every 2 months it is in the shop. The check engine light is always & the engine is misfiring. Have had to coils replaced. They always say "sometimes these things happen & we'll get it taken care of." The car is 1year old, should have no problems. I would seriously reconsider my options before buying this car. A bus is more dependable. Thank goodness for a second car.
