Used 2002 Hyundai Accent Consumer Reviews
Excellent Value!
As a Honda guy i wasnt very fond of getting a Hyundai. Bought in 2011 with 163000 and boy am i glad i did. Gets me 39mpg all highway. I drive it about 50 miles daily. I have the 4 door with the 1.6L auto. Mine does have a small noise in muffler but mechanic told me this was common on that year. Plus i dont mind cause it sounds cool, lol! Great car! Parts are easy to find and cheap. I recommend it!
Buyer beware
Had car for under a year, replaced O2 sensor, brakes, battery and tires. Next year battery (only 1 kind available) O2 sensor. Next year, belts, water pump Brakes O2 Sensor. Every year I had to replace at least 1 of the O2 sensors, speed sensor and trans sensor of some sort (since year 3) None was covered as it is normal wear and tear (!@#$). Gas pedal stuck after 5 years and now my trans is failing. Will never buy again, bad warranty, bad price and cheap, cheap car (not in price just in quality)

Nice entry-level car
I bought this car used in 2005. I've had it for about six weeks, and so far I'm very impressed. It's not impressive, gorgeous, or fast, but it is solidly constructed. If you're looking for an affordable car that gets great gas mileage (I'm getting 30MPG in the city), go with the Accent. It has a couple of design flaws (cup-holder placement and size, for example), but dealing with a little thing like that is no problem.
Wish I would have saved my money
This was my first car and I'm not happy with it. 1st year was okay but after that all down hill. Check engine light keeps coming on after car has been worked on. Back seat is cramped. Warranty would be good but the only dealership that is close to me does horrible work if any at all. Gas mileage is great when car doesn't over rev before I even shift it out of park. Handling is okay as long as the road is not wet. Car tends to fishtail on any road with more than a few drops of water on it. The breaks squeak like crazy when it rains and after it rains. And forget about decent pick up. Also for some reason the performance of the car plummets when AC is on.
great first car
My Accent GL, whcich has come to be known as "Meghan," is an excellent value. One of the few cars I could afford at 16, the fuel efficiency and reliability have proven extremely sanctuous for my wallet. The car is fun to drive, great on long trips, and does not stick out to state troopers so you can speed all you like (passed one at 20 +; idiot in Hummer was distracting cop).
