Great, but room to improve

I fell in love with this truck because one it had the honda name attached and because it was different than the domestic trucks comanding the road (other than the Avelanche). I wished that the truck inside would have been more stylish with more curves rather than the cuts like the knee room for the driver! Plus maybe an additioanl option of a V-8? and u thought that the MPG could have been better but it is still decent.

Unique, different, drives like a car, good in snow and other bad conditions. You could say "it's a Honda" meaning it's all good but the reality is it's a production vehicle with some small problems. You find out after it passes 100,000 miles. Water leaks into the interior but only when parked downhill!? Gonna have check engine light and need front and rear cats..every rice light on interior switches will burn out, l use the Braille method to find them in the dark...change out alternators too frequently, people complain about gas mileage but the vehicle is heavy; stop and go-11 mpg; highway at 60 mph -22 mpg, go figure.. That in-bed trunk and swing out tailgate is worth the price of admission, super useful! Not really a traditional 4-wheel drive. I don't know the engineering but it's front wheel drive with an active rear axle. Active wet or dry, the VTM button " locks" the rear wheels till your moving and it goes back to FWD.. Different!! Pulls instead of push, a lot of haters and that makes me like it more! The body is tender- dents easily; surface rust, wheels corroded, looks rough. Don't care-runs like a clock! Honda's heritage is racing- USA is always hydraulic lifters that self adjust , Honda uses solid lifters that need adjustment more often than mfg. suggests.. Intakes get loose, exhaust get REAL tight!!! I've let the cat out of the bag!! Honda dealers are pricey, be ready! DIY if you can! Very touchy electronics/ can be complex. It's a winner but as it ages-growing expensive problems! Not as bad as the German stuff but repairs can be stupid expensive!!

Looked for a Year...

If you, like me, own two gas cans, three propane bottles, and a Great Dane, BUT have to commute 40 miles a day to work and back, you want both truck and very well-built car too. Ridgeline is both, and does both very well. Last Honda I had went 200k miles over 13 years with no issues, so how could I not go Honda again? Love the truck, rides very smooth, extremely safe in bad weather, computers are smarter than I am and keep me out of trouble. Only drawback is gas mileage, I'm getting 17 city, no highway test yet.

All around, a great vehicle. I had never owned a truck prior to buying my used Ridgeline, as my prior vehicles have been of the high or ultra high performance coupe or sedan variety, and I have racing experience. Performance for the average driver should be more than adequate (top speed is limited to 120), it rides very smooth for a truck, and the fuel economy is fine given it has a drag coefficient of The Vatican combined with substantial mass. I wish these had been available back when my 10 year old was born!

I am a genuine Ridgeline owner, and not one fabricating stories to sell a different brand or discredit Honda. This truck is not perfect but serves my needs very very well. My landscaping business and the tools that come with job can be hauled by my truck as if their is nothing at the back and surefooted in snow. The many awards this truck garnered is a testament to its merits. Anyone accusing Honda of bribing the award giving bodies is hogwash. I mean you can bribe one or two award giving bodies but close to 12 award giving bodies unanimous in praising the Ridgeline meant one thing, those awards aren't bought and much deserved. Kudos to Honda for reinventing the truck.
