Used 2014 Honda Odyssey Consumer Reviews
2014 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite - The Bomb!
This minivan has all the bells and whistles. It was used as a Honda Corporate Executive vehicle for almost 3 years in Maryville, OH. When I purchased the vehicle at Honda of Frankfort (KY) in Mid 2017, It had 62000 miles on it. We added a roof luggage carrier. It now has 122,000+ miles on it. It is equipped with navigation, bluetooth, blind spot sensors, emergency braking, an entertainment system with overhead DVD player. It has am/fm/Sirius XM radio. It even has a built-in vacuum cleaner in the hatch. After I had Michelin Defender tires installed, we moved to Fort Myers, FL in April 2020 and in three years, I have replaced the spark plugs, timing belt/water pump/hoses and pulleys, the radiator, and brakes. I had the front struts replaced as well and had flushing and replacement fluid service completed on the oil, fuel induction/injectors, transmission, brakes and power steering. We still drive to/from Kentucky and Georgia a few times per year and the van averages close to 26 mpg. Regular service is completed at the Honda Dealership and at a repair shop close by!

Awesome
I love this van. It is push button start and has a camera for your blind spot on the passenger side. I absolutely love that feature. It gets good gas mileage and we have hauled a lot of stuff in it.

Suits My Needs
Roomy. Comfortable. Good repair history. Decent gas mileage (25 MPG overall). Nice car.
I was a minivan skeptic. Then I met the Odyssey
Overall Rating: 5/5 There’s a stigma around minivans that keeps most people away—I was one of them. I can’t believe I wasted so much of my life without one. I bought my Honda Odyssey used with 157,000 miles on it and just one previous owner. Right away, I took care of some essential routine maintenance, including the timing belt—a job I believe many owners skip, which probably explains a lot of the negative reviews out there. In my four years of ownership, this van has needed nothing outside of scheduled maintenance. She now has over 200,000 miles and still drives like new. This van is like a spaceship. The engine is surprisingly responsive—it almost feels like I’m behind the wheel of a sports car. It handles just as smoothly, with none of the sluggishness you’d expect from a vehicle this size. Add in its sleek, sexy design, and I’m not just content to drive it—I’m proud to. This isn’t just a practical choice; it’s a statement. The leather seats are a godsend for parents—wipeable, durable, and effortlessly clean, even after snacks, spills, and chaos. And the comfort? Impressive. Even the third row is genuinely comfortable—and that’s coming from someone with spine issues. I’m almost jealous of my kids getting to ride back there! Another thing I love? The 2014 model keeps its non-digital shifter, and honestly, that’s a plus. It feels solid, intuitive, and refreshingly simple in a world where everything’s becoming overly touch-sensitive or screen-based. Sometimes, less really is more. So yeah—call it a minivan if you want, but this Odyssey is a damn legend. It’s dependable, comfortable, surprisingly fun to drive, and built to last. I went from a skeptic to a full-on believer. If you’re on the fence, do yourself a favor: take the leap. You might just fall in love with the best-kept secret on the road.

Great overall - BUT….
I bought this van used and initially thought I got a lemon. There was a strange shudder here and there when accelerating and decelerating. I questioned the rotors but it wasn’t that. My local mechanic (not Honda) thought it needed the spark plugs or transmission replaced. Just diagnosing and replacing 1 spark plug and I was out $500. I was told if this didn’t fix the issue it was a $4000 new transmission needed. The problem wasn’t fixed. It drove worse than before and the engine light started flashing while I was driving home from work on the freeway one night. Decided to take it to Honda dealership. Turns out it just needed the software update and a transmission oil change. Total cost was less than what my trusty dependable mechanic charged just trying to figure things out. Lesson learned, I’ll check with Honda first. After this repair the van has ran perfectly. It gets decent MPG for its size, something like 25-27mpg for mostly highway miles that I’m driving. My CRV was getting less than that. There is so much space too. As much as I wanted to like SUVs, this is a much more comfortable ride with so much more room to bring kids, dogs, gear, luggage, etc. I have the model with the side mirror camera and I don’t know how I managed to drive anything without it before. The driving experience is boring, because it’s a van lol. If you want excitement, acceleration, etc, get a car. Overall for such a soccer mom vehicle, the styling is not bad. I said I’d never own a van, but since I do, I am glad it’s the least ugly. I’ve owned 2 Honda Odysseys, last one was a 2004 and only sold it because the paint looked terrible and I thought I wanted a CRV. That lasted 2 years and I went straight back to the van due to the CRV being too small and garbage gas mileage for what it was. This van really is nice.
Edmunds great resource
Ended up with a 2015 Honda Odessey ex with the help with this website. It was a fair deal and turned into good deal. This is when we bought. It now has 70k and we are very my pleased.
