Review of 2009 Honda Odyssey
Really Great car overall. When buying, make sure you model is EX-L or higher, as lower models do not include features such as an entertainment system and/or rear climate control. Although cabin noise is slightly excessive sometimes, it is a wonderful travel car.
Honda let us down!
My wife and I considered the Honda Odyssey and the Toyota Sienna, but liked the overall looks and reputation of Honda. The one option we both wanted, living up here in the frozen north, are heated seats. At first we only wanted the EX model, but had to purchase the EX-L to get the heated seat option, along with the other options that came with the EX-L. This cost us over $3000.00 extra, all because we wanted heated seats. After buying the Honda, taking it home and reading into the owners manual, discovered that only the drivers seat was fully heated, not the passenger seat, which is only heated on the seat portion. Honda should have had this information on their brochures.

Back to a van after years away
I have had 3 other vans (all Chryslers) which had turned to go to all cars back in 2000. I decided to try one more time and I have been pleasantly surprised. The Ody is really comfortable, is solid as a rock, no rattles, quiet, and with the rear camera has great visibility. The disappearing 3rd row is great and the rear well when the seat is up provides an excellent space for loads of packages, suitcases etc. The mileage is at the top end of the EPA estimate and has exceeded the estimate on several recent trips, verified by actual calculation not just the trip computer. The leather seats are the most comfortable and supportive I've had in a vehicle under $50,000.
Satisfied so far
I admit, no one buys a minivan for driving excitement, but Honda does a good job of making a vehicle whose main purpose is functionality seem fun to drive. It does everything we ask of it, and actually remains reasonably fun to drive. Mileage is pretty good, and park assist is a great help. We're really happy with it after 4 months of driving.
Well, the kids love it...
After our third came around it was time to move up in terms of size with our vehicles. This is our second Honda product so no real surprises in build/material quality, which as been good so far. The van has been very functional and the power doors are great. The space within the van is excellent, as is the driving characteristics of the vehicle. Gas mileage is been in the middle 20's so far, but I will expect less during the winter. The children love the van and taking long trips has been a much more pleasant experience for the whole family.
