Used 2018 Honda CR-V Consumer Reviews
Uninformed Dealers
Loved the car but unfortunately after researching it Honda has a Oil Dilution problem on 1.5L Turbo charged engines. No permanent fix available yet. Dealers tell me no such problems exist and have never heard of the issue. Very dishonest salesmen at the Honda dealerships in my area. Will buy a Toyota instead.

Don't ignore the oil dilution problems
Hope this helps you avoid the mistake that I made with this car. After reading a few reviews about gasoline in the oil in their 1.5L Turbo engines, I assumed that Honda had resolved the problem and purchased one in September 2018. Unfortunately, I'm having the same issues that so many others have reported. Honda is not being truthful (check their Youtube video where they say that gasoline oil dilution is perfectly normal), they say that it only happens in cold weather and on short drives (neither seem to be true), and their software programming fix which was first rolled out in China does was later cancelled and does not appear to be helping. They aren't fixing US CR-Vs yet, instead still claiming that there is no problem. In the mean-time, I'm changing the oil often hoping that it will help, but gasoline in the oil must be bad for an engine. It's a shame because the rest of the car is so good with great room, good features for the money.

2018 Honda CR V 4 month owner review
We have owned our 2018 CR V Touring since June of this year. Its November 2018 and we are trading in the car for another brand. Many problems with the car. Tire noise, road noise in the cabin that is unacceptable. Engine noise on acceleration that makes it sound like you have a lawn mower under the hood. Interior lights do not work. Bright lights do not turn automatically like they are supposed to and can not be turned manually. On two separate occasions we received error messages on the 2 safety systems (cruise control, land departure and crash avoidance) saying they had all failed and were inop. So surprised to have all these issues from a Honda.

Do Not Buy If in a Cold Climate
I recently retired and wanted a 2018 Honda CRV EXL or Touring AWD model - brand spanking new, take me to my grave! All the reviews are great and no US reviews mention the excess gas in the oil problem - that would be the same problem that had Honda propose to recall over 300,000 CRVs in China only to be told, that's insufficient and have the sale of these turbo engines PROHIBITED! They are working on a fix. Sales of CRV tubos (and Civic turbos too!) are now allowed back into China but with stern warnings not to sell in cold climate areas. The problem is when the driver drives for short distances (i.e. just around town, not a work commute) the engine doesn't heat up sufficiently (and consequently you don't get much heat in the cabin either!). Honda is not changing anything for 2019 because the issue relates to cold (snowy, cold, windy, Buffalo, Wyoming, or mountainous type climates) - representing a relatively small area of Honda CRV sales (this is not a problem in CA or FL - but beware in the cold!). The local Honda GM would not sell me the car given the location and my expected usage. The Edmunds reviewer should have known this.

love it...but
As a long time Honda owner ( have had nothing but Honda since 1984, many models) we were looking forward to enjoying this car for many adventures back and forth to Florida and other places. We have put 25K on it in the first year and 90% of the time has been wonderful. Our GPS has on many occasions just died and went blank, the heat/AC controls have quit and have heard loud popping sounds under the dash as it goes blank. Its been taken to 2 dealers and left for many days at both and nobody can duplicate the issue. The fix is easy, shut the car off and wait a minute and turn it back on but not convenient at all driving down the highway at speed. And now I hear they are investigating a blown turbo and gas leaking into the oil, with no fix and Honda claims to know nothing about it.
