Used 2017 Honda CR-V Consumer Reviews
In Honda We Trust
Why did we buy the 2017 Honda CRV Touring? Below is a little history of our car ownership: We owned a 2005 Toyota RAV4, which we privately sold recently. We were happy with the RAV4, but after 12 years of ownership, our family made a decision to buy a new car. First, we visited the Toyota dealership. The 2017 Toyota RAV4 was much larger than our 2005 model, plus we weren't impressed with the way it looks (especially the interior). It is still a great car but the reasons I have mentioned above moved us toward Honda . Our son advised us to get a Honda Fit, but after we owned a SUV, it is difficult to switch back to a compact car. We decided to buy the 2017 Honda CR-V Touring model and have owned it for a little more than as two months. We love this car. It is a very smooth driving vehicle with a lot of safety features (Honda Sense), great design – interior and exterior. All wheel drive adds stability and if you can afford this feature, it is a must have. Fuel economy is excellent. We love the large digital display because it is easy to see the speed you are driving and see the road at the same time. Great information system with navigation provided by Garmin. If you own an Android phone, you can use Google maps for navigation. Originally, we planned to get 2017 Honda CR-V EX-L, but we changed our mind when we saw the LED headlamps in action. Before buying, I have read a lot of reviews about the Touring trim level and was really surprised that there were some negative reviews about the sound system. You simply need to adjust the treble and bass levels. If you listen to low quality recording don't expect a great sound. I have downloaded my music collection to a USB drive. All the music I play has exceptional quality but even so, some sounded better than others. For example, Jaime Valle’s “Round Midnight” album sounds outstanding. If your budget permits, go for the Touring trim level. From now on, I'm a Honda fan.

The Best SUV I Found
I had an 8-year-old Ford Escape and was looking for a new mid-size SUV. I researched them all, and ended up test driving the Kia Sorrento, the Ford Escape, the Honda CRV, and a couple of Hyundai's. After the test drives I narrowed the field to the first three, in that order. I then reluctantly eliminated the Sorrento (a very comfortable car) because it was larger than I needed, did not get particularly good mileage. (I found that all of these SUV's are rather similar in body style and basic features; all were good to drive.) I then test drove the Escape and the CRV again. Both were excellent. The Escape had a bit more power while the CRV better gas mileage and a better ride. The determining factor was the overall package: the CRV-EX had all the features I wanted, such as adjustable cruise control and Android Auto, while the Escape lacked the former unless I went to the Titanium, the top (and most expensive) model. I decided on the CRV and have been very happy with my choice. The car has everything I could ask for. The ride is luxuriously comfortable, the steering precise and the engine is peppy enough for the way I drive. I'm getting over 30mpg with mostly city driving. The interior is well appointed and the car is a pleasure to drive.

Honda CR-V 2017 Plagued with TPMS issues
I would not advise purchasing the vehicle. It is so new that dealerships do not know how to repair issues with the car. I have taken my car for the same TPMS issue that has occurred 5 times and they are still unable to fix the issue. Now I am stuck waiting for a specialist to come out within 1-2 weeks with one day warning to get my car into the dealership. They have replaced all my tires and admit to not knowing what is going on. The dealership now says it is between me and corporate honda. corporate honda is unwilling to provide me a loaner car. Even though tpms is required by law.

Very Noisy Car
Something almost none of the car reviewers out there will tell you is how loud this car is on the highway. The sound dampening material on this car is very poor making for a very loud cabin at highway speeds. The rest of the car is pretty good it's comfortable to drive for long trips (except for the noise), the power is good, cargo capacity is good and it looks pretty good except Honda continues to out do itself with ugly wheels. The engine is okay, it is very fuel efficient averaging roughly 32 mpg @ 76 mph on road trips fully loaded with 4 passengers. The turbo lag takes some getting used to and eco mode makes it almost undrivable in a city setting but shifting to sport mode keeps the motor in the powerband and it is a fun car to drive. The infotainment center leaves a lot to be desired while it does a good job if you mostly just leave it in one mode switching between connected device and a conventional radio/satellite radio source takes a lot of button pushes and is very distracting. Apple CarPlay is great but again switching to another source should be a easier. Also a play/pause button on the steering wheel would be nice. Overall it is a pretty good car except for the road noise. It is the first thing new passengers comment on when the go for a ride and it has me contemplating trading it in for a different car.

2017 CRV with 1.5 Turbo Engine - ENGINE ISSUES
On February 23, 2018, my car which has 5500 miles on it, started making a horrible noise and began losing power while on the highway. The noise continued throughout the weekend. We made an appointment with dealership immediately. Honda Corporate and the Service Manager determined through video chats and conference calls that the cams were destroyed in my engine. They believe this had to do with fuel and oil mixing and getting into the engine. Honda Corporate (800-999-1009) requested that dealership replace the Head of the Engine. They have no fix for the problem with the fuel and oil mixing and destroying the engine. The Service Manager said because the government is involved due to emissions, this issue will be continuing, and at this time there is no fix. He also stated that Corporate informed him this was a Regional issue due to our climate, and they are currently trying to figure out a software fix for the problem. No resolution at this point. Corporate further stated that they are seeing this issue when the temperature is between 10 and 30 degrees. I was offered a 100,000 extended warranty and recommended that I go to the dealer every 500 miles to get an oil change to see if fuel is mixing with the oil. Shocked at the lack of resolution, I asked the Service Manager if Honda Corporate was comfortable giving me my car back after the cams were replaced with no resolution, and he said Yes. I do not believe this is ethical at all for Honda to not have a fix to an engine problem that could endanger myself and/or my family. I am not comfortable taking this car back knowing that the engine could be “scorched” again while driving to a destination. It is neither safe nor prudent to drive a vehicle that has such engine problems considering it has less than 6000 miles. This is a BRAND NEW Car! On day 19 with no car and not final resolution in sight. I am required to pick up my car when the head is replaced. PLEASE DO NOT purchase the 2017/2017 CRV EX 1.5 turbo models. There is no fix to the oil/gas problem!!!
