2013 Honda CR-V EXL CERTIFIED

Update 8/13/18. Still love this car, no real problems at 68000 miles. Oil, brakes, fluids are the only thing I’ve had to do. Great MPG, parking is a breeze with this car. Backup camera is very helpful backing into tight spaces. Heat leather seats and sunroof are a must have. Update: Have had the car one year now, it has been just what I expected, no repairs, only oil and transaxle fluid replaced. It has all the convenience and technology that I need. Comfortable ride, good gas mileage, and dependability. Still looks new. Favorite thing is the heated leather seats (great this past winter) and the sunroof. Had remote starter installed so seats are warm when I get to the car. Original review: Decided to look into certified preowned and am glad I did. Looked at a couple of dealers without much success. Ran from dinged up to smell of smoke, then looked at Herb Chambers in Westborough Ma. They had a much better selection at what I think was a better price. 12 month bumper to bumper and power train to 100000 miles. The car was very clean as if this person that leased it was going to keep it, they put 4 new tires and replaced the brakes. The car rides like new, my wife has a 2014 that we bought new. There isn't any difference really between the two except for color. On my last trip from Boston to Bartlet NH and then to Cape Cod we are averaging 30.7mpg can't do better than that with a car this size. We can load an awful lot of stuff in the car and still have plenty of room. Best Buy for the buck I think. Update, 2019. 80000 miles Still great, looks new, only regular maintenance like oil, brakes and the like. I sometimes wish something would go wrong with it so I would have an excuse to buy the new model..

Excellent balance of design elements

I am 6'2", 290# and can fit into front or back seats without banging head or knees. Vehicle is silky smooth in performance, quiet at high speeds, nimble in handling. Turning radius very tight despite room in front/back/cargo areas. Styling to me exceeds others in class. Interior is well laid out; controls are intuitive and easily reached. Driving a flat 30 miles home from dealership at 55 mph in eco mode, instantaneous mileage dropped below 30 mpg only twice. Me likee. Don't think Honda engineers could balance all elements of form and function better than they did. I am retired and no Honda fanboy, but vehicle is exceptional.

Great overall**excessive Road Noise

Shopped around for a couple of months before deciding to purchase a new Honda Suv My previous one had horribly uncomfortable seats. That was 8 Years ago. Have only had this one two days; so far no complaints on comfort. Overall great looking; good fuel economy, love the technology. Very roomy. Good visibility. My only concern at this point is road noise. I would classify it as excessive. I've had a Ford Expedition and a Honda Pilot; both were 4-wheel drive and much less road noise. I'm going to try my carpeted floor mats to see if that helps otherwise the car may be going back to the dealer on day number three.

Defective CRV 2013

This car lacks power, it is nice looking but it came defective. at 500 needed to be repair for defective components that made the check engine light go on, then i found water in the trunk. The car needed to be sealed and after the next rain, there is water again. Not recommended!! Although the sticker says it may give you 25-30 miles per gallon, it never does. The max was 22 mpg

What Happened?

I did a lot of research for a reliable, efficient and safe vehicle. The first year was great and now the cons list seems to be growing. I've spoken to other 2013 CRV owners and they are running into a lot more problems than us - a lot that had been listed here - that I'm afraid we will be running into soon too. This car is in immaculate condition and things just keep happening for no reason. I bought this new and went from a loaded Chevy to what feels like a stock SUV. Pros: Trunk space Exterior look Safe Gas mileage Cons: Very heavy doors for a smaller person Speakers have terrible sound quality Steering wheel started flaking and falling apart less than a year into owning Crunching sound when first starting Rear view camera just broke for no visible reason Cheap feeling interior - leather and plastics No garage door button Manual passenger side seats Heated seats only have one zone - back and seat instead of each having its own function Dual heat/AC is ineffective - one zone controls both no matter what the temp difference is No pickup LOUD road noise Thin feeling doors when it's cold - not sure how this works since the doors are so heavy Manual hatchback closure - I'm under 5'2. Closing the hatchback when it's dripping and covered in winter can be messy
