The Snooze Cruise
I've had this car now for a little over a 1000 miles and man do I have a lot to say about it - and not all good. The windshield and sloped hood make it almost impossible to gauge how close you are to something and makes it hard to park tightly. The '160 watt' radio is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! The controls for most of the components - awkwardly placed and an eye sore. The Bluetooth - a complete failure/hard to use (Mazda and Nissan system were much better - I know because I rented both). Traction/assisted steering/whatever the heck it's supposed to be - does little (in fact feels more responsive when it's off). What a joke! Really Civic? You got me at hello but now I a divorce.
2012 Honda Civic, Best yet!!!
First a review correction for Edmunds! The new 2012 Honda Civic gets 39 mpg highway!!!! your review stated incorrectly the following: "The front-wheel-drive 2012 Honda Civic is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 140 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. Transmission choices include a five-speed manual and an available five-speed automatic (HF and EX models get the automatic as standard equipment). This combination returns EPA fuel economy estimates ranging from a low of 28 mpg city/36 mpg highway" The additional info on HP and Torque are otherwise correct. Best Civic yet! Highly reccomended.

2012 Honda Civic SI 6-Speed Manual - A++
Car has been super reliable; needed only 3 batteries, 2-3 sets of tires - in a 10 year span I have only 41, 000 miles. Amsoil fluids when needed. My next car, as a 62 years old senior, is going to ne a LUXO-CRUISER, i.e., Lexus LS 430,2004 - 2006, for more comfort & less sporty, right?
update 9000 miles
Have 8 k on it now with the manual and till now it is ok ,but not more than that.If you want the "old" feeling of driving fun you better stay with a 8th generation civic.......... It's a commuter from a to b and relaible. Got some engine noise after 2000 miles, must come from the valves,a ticking noise, not used to it,my 2009 lx had 30k on it and still sounded new. See how this works out in awhile, will ask about it with the first service interval.Mpg is still great without the econ button 45 mpg...... Never use the econ button anymore, spoils the power and not that much different in mpg...
Even Honda knows they screwed up
What more evidence do you need that the 2012 Civic was a half-baked effort than Honda refreshing the car every year following 2012? Their only performance-driven model during this MY neutered the fun of the previous generation, put in the boring engine from the CR-V, and eliminated the light and nimble experience in favor of unconfident bodyroll and numb steering. The exterior is odd AND impractical. By extending the windshield angle and adding small quarter-panel glass to the side windows, the front pillar creates a front blind spot during turning of any kind. The car feels heavier than it should. Thanks Honda for destroying the resale value of the 2012s by immediately updating the interior/exterior the very next year. Worst of all these cars come with a faulty clutch plate with defective springs that loosen and make a horrible grinding noise at 30K mi. I was lucky enough to get it changed under warranty, but many owners weren't so lucky. Don't bother with this model, especially the 2012 version.

It speaks for itself
Honda's have always been known for their reliability, when you take care of it, it will take care of you... I love my Honda! This car has a great looking interior and exterior regardless of other opinions, people are just snobby! The gas milage is amazing, and the eco option makes it even better. The trunk is not small, unless those who are complaining want to fit a few bodies into it, lol. Everything about this car is wonderful. I would suggest it to anyone looking for a reliable car!

Great car
Don't waste your $ - ball was dropped in 2012
I bought the 2012 Civic LX new in 2011 after trading in my '07 CR-V. I loved it at first - it was super sleek, small size and easy to maneuver. It's also excellent on gas. I planned on driving this car until it died, but at 70K miles it has to go. BIGGEST CONCERN = this car is TERRIBLE in the rain. I have had far too many close calls and no longer feel safe driving it. Be prepared to slide during conditions of minimal precipitation at low speeds and don't even attempt to drive it in the snow. Other issues: 1.) BRAKES - have been replaced 3xs and there is some kind of rusty-looking dust that keeps reappearing on the back wheels that no mechanic has been able to diagnose. 2.) ELECTRICAL - this car has fried literally EVERY SINGLE phone charger I have ever plugged into the USB port. When the charger does work, it takes forever to charge, to the point the phone eats the battery quicker than the car can charge it. GOOD NEWS - you know the charger is about to get fried when your phone stops recognizing the device when plugged in, so this gives you some notice when you need to go buy a new one. 3.) BATTERY - have replaced it 2x. 4.) NOISE - this car is incredibly loud, if you like wind tunnels this is the car for you. 5.) SUNROOF - had to replace after 2 years, the weather stripping went bad and started leaking, wasn't covered by the warranty. 6.) TIRES - for whatever reason air will not stay inside the tires. This includes the original tires that came with the car, and the new tires I put on them recently. This isn't normal hot to cold weather change low air; the tires will go completely flat. Mechanics confirmed no leaks in both sets of tires, but somehow air is still getting out. 7.) NAVIGATION - don't waste your money on this. Nav got me so incredibly lost at 1AM driving home from a work trip in the middle of nowhere. My phone died (because of the USB electrical issue), but thankfully I had a road atlas from 2006 in the back seat. OVERALL: Extremely disappointed and this car is outright dangerous. Sad because the Honda Civic is known for it's affordability and reliability, but they dropped the ball in 2012. DO NOT waste your $.

Wonderful Little Car
... just bought the EXL and could not be more pleased. I was able to get car $1000 below Edmunds. Before you decide on another small car just go and drive this one. I think that you will be pleased. As far as noise, I traded in a 2003 Grand Marquis with 38,000 miles on this car and there is no more noise than the Mercury. Driving is believing.
Does exactly what is needs to
I recently purchased a 2012 Civic LX after doing a lot of research on fuel efficient compact cars. Fuel economy was a top priority as my old gas burner was robbing me every other week. After comparing real world users reports it was clear the Civic would get good fuel economy. Many other cars seem to be highway rated at 40 mpg (Hyundai Elantra), but people in the real world are not actually getting that. After about 1k miles I've already got over 45 mpg on a 200 mile trip.
Great on Gas
Very reliable, excellent gas mileage

Not
This car kills batteries like crazy & the dealership can't figure out what the problem is. They will just keep replacing the battery until the 3yr warranty is over & then it's on you. Make sure to have a jump box charged & ready with you to start this car monthly. If you let it sit more that 2-3 days the battery wont start it. The clutch makes a howling or grinding noise when accelerating from a stop in 1st gear. (started at about 20,000k mi) We were able to make this sound happen with a Honda Tech in the vehicle & they still are unwilling to fix the issue without saying we'll have to pay the tab. The rubber rotted out around the windows in 2 years & we had to fight with them to get it replaced. They said it was from being out in the sun too much in Arizona! In two years please! Then don't sell your crap cars in AZ. We bought this car brand new from Honda 4 years ago it has 40k on it now. Never buying Honda again its our first & last.

Honda is still the best!!!
So far so good. I'm glad I bought this Civic EX-L at an excellent deal over $1k below Edmund's. It is used as an additional car for the wife's shopping, school, church and around town errands. Our Montero 20th Anniv is good for outdoors and long drives but at 14/18mpg :-( Love our Honda.. It's been getting at least 35-38mpg. Too bad the reviews did not get them any fair shot.
40 miles on my new car and it's in the SHOP THIS IS RIDICULOUS PLEASE READ
My 2012 Honda Civic had 43miles on it when the Check Emissions light came on. I was near the dealer and took it straight in. He said you have to leave it here. I had groceries in the trunk and had to go home only to bring it back and told I could get it that night. Only to get a call saying it's not going to be ready until Wednesday only to get a call on Wed saying the car won't be available till Friday if that because they had to order a part thru Honda Factory that was coming from Kentucky. Only to get find out I am asked to be a "Guinea pig" for Honda to put a "black box" in my car to track my car for two weeks to see if this is going to be a deal they need to bulletin.
Brandon Honda -- great dealership - Civic sedan great car
We purchased a 2012 Honda Civic Sedan and we are very happy with it. The folks at Brandon Honda in Brandon, Florida were great. Our salesman was Tony M.....he was a jewel. Totally wonderful experience. If you are in the area and want a great buying experience, call Tony at Brandon Honda
Car for the People
I am in my 60s and I cannot see the front end of my 2012 Civic. I will be taking it back. Honda is making cars for the dumbing down public. If you cannot see the front when driving, then you and everyone else is at risk.

Not like they used to be
This has been the gold standard in econ cars for years. I'm a bit disappointed at the gas mileage. Even with the "econ" button, t's no better than my 12 year old Sentra. The button takes torque away to such an extent that you need to be on flat land in order for the driving to be consistent. Climate control is pretty good but it's nearly impossible to keep the windows clear of fog. Premium audio is almost useless. The auto traction and brakes are decent, if you are hoping to have the car drive for you. However, if you like to control everything it's not so favorable.
Horrible car.
Great on gas but was a horrible car in general... would always break down one thing after another. Did not hold its value at all...

A great little car!
This is our 4th Honda (previously had an Accord, CR-V, and Pilot). We bought this EX-L to use mainly as a commuter car for me. We've had it about 2 months now, and I've already got just over 3K miles on it. Gas mileage has been great, it's comfortable, and wind noise is minimal. I know it's considered a "compact" car, but it feels anything but compact. In fact, it feels about the same size as our '90 Accord! Overall, we're very pleased with our purchase.
Love 2nd time around
I recently owned a 2006 civic coupe and crashed at no fault of my own, it was totaled, so when I got the insurance check I immediatly told my boyfriend I want another civic. He tried to get me to look at other types of cars, but I had to have my civic and I just love my 2012 automatic w/ navigation. I feel safe and comfortable with the size of the car. I dont feel the road noise as people talk about or the vibrations. My car has a smooth ride and its a step up from the 2006, but to be honest, I liked the look of my 2006, it was more sporty, but thats not neither her or there, its a great car. I get double takes on the 2012 car all the time. I know I made the right decision.
Very impressed, and happy with my 2012 Civic !
I am impressed with the new 2012 Civic...still under two years old I have already put on over 50,000 miles with 0 problems..smartest buy I've made yet and it's my second Honda and will never buy anything else ! I avg 32 city and 33 to 39 on the highway depending on how I drive. Excellent gas mileage and comfortable car. Love the navigation, stereo and sound, leather interior which is nice and durable ! I just love my Honda and can't wait to drive it, it's a remarkable car ! I plan on trying to get as many miles out of it as I can !

love it...
I've had my 2012 si sedan for just over 3 weeks and so far I love everything about it.. I feel safe knowing my daughter is in a good quality safe car. And when she's not in the car I get the capability to drive it how it was built to be driven.. I just passed the 1000 mile mark and now that's its broken in so to say I can actually see what its made of.. very happy I did my research and went to the dealership knowing exactly what I wanted and got just that. I'm a very happy camper. And I don't see the thrill going away any time soon.
So Far, So Good
We have been very happy with this car so far in almost all regards. The older entertainment system is a little finicky with my iPhone, but all in all, that's a pretty small complaint. We have put a lot of miles on it since we got it and it's been outstanding. So happy we got it.

2012 Civic
Bought my 4 door 2012 Civic used a year and a half ago. When the dealership prepped it and changed the oil they forgot to put the oil cap back on and oil spilled. That was more of an individual dealership thing and has not effected the car. My only complaint is that for some reason when I turn it on and idle on a cold engine there is a loud humming noise from the back of the car that increases then goes away. I have brought it to 3 mechanics and none of them can figure out what is wrong. Gas mileage is great. It's gone down lately because of the winter but I'm still getting 33.6 mpgs. Summer I got 34.5. Love this car!

best car ever owned
This car has been nothing but amazing to me. I bought a 2012 si sedan off of a family friend that took great care it. had installed a skunk2 catless downpipe, with a skunk2 cold air intake and a borla exhaust. Had it tuned on hondata and opened the engine up more...I have had zero problems with this car, the engine is Rev happy which makes the car very fun to drive. Everywhere I have went I've gotten compliments about my car and the sound of it as well. I'm always told it doesn't sound like the typical rice burner. I bought the car with 130k and I'm currently at 174k. It runs amazing and strong. I do have the typical Honda paint fade but I'm going to have it repainted soon so I don't really care about it. I do definitely have future plans to build the motor and transmission some more

Fun to drive but even more fun in the corners
Amazing handling, love the k24 engine it delivers it's power in such a way that you almost get addicted to it's peppy 201hp and the 170 lbft of torque make for an amazing driving car. It's just so nimble and light feeling. It's almost like the cars an angry pug small yet shockingly quick and so light no corner intimidates you. I've owned my civic SI for only a few days and the first trip I took was to Hocking Hills and here with their 55mph speed limit and winding corners thought the forest make for such a perfect combination it's almost as fun getting there in this car as the attractions. Jeremy, Richard, and James should definitely come here for their next big grand tour event in subcompact sports cars like the civic SI and I guarantee by the time they've found samsquanch they would all be leaving in the same car. The civic SI. the one and only complaint I have is the fuel tank could be a little larger so that I can drive it more and fill it up less.

Always reliable
In 12 years and 98,000 miles, I never had any problem. I had the Civic HF, 41 MPG on the highway. We did the oil changes, service maintenance, and tires/brakes. Everything work like a dream, totaled (rammed in to the back of my car), but no body was hurt. Which speaks a lot for the safety. I loved her. Now, I had to purchase a new Honda.

Eleven Years with no major issues!
This is a mechanically great, peppy little car. The seats aren't too bad and adjust for a 5'7" driver to a 6'1" driver comfortably. We've owned the car 11 years and has a little less than 200K miles. Other than routine maintanence, battery, tires, brakes, oil changes every 3K-5K miles we never had any issues....until now. The oil light has come on and the engine isn't getting oil. We stopped ASAP so hopefully no catastrophic damage but it looks as if the oil pump has failed. That is dissappointing as it has been well maintained. We'll find out soon if the repairs will cost more than the car is worth. Otherwise, it has been a great car.

Genuine Love Forr My 2012 Si Coupe
I have a highly earned respect for my 2012 Si coupe. I bought her new in 2012 and have had NO major technological issues, even at 130K miles on the original clutch plate. She deserves some respect Maybe I'm weird, but I honestly don't give a damn about how luxurious the interior is. If the vehicle is supposed to be focused on performance, let it focus on performance! I have zero brand loyalty. What I do have is car loyalty. My 2012 Si Coupe has easily been the best vehicle of my lifetime, and I've been around a LONG damn time. Update: I have now had the car for nearly 13 years, and it still runs like it was new. It has 140K miles on it, and has had no issues outside of standard maintenance. I also still think it is the best looking Si ever made.

Problems
I like my car, but it's broke down 3 times in the first 3,600 miles. The rocker arm bent the first, and the next time another rocker arm broke in two. This should not happen with a that only has 3,600 mile on it. Has anyone else had this issue?
