Used 2002 Honda Accord Consumer Reviews
So far so good
I'm reaching my 100 miles odometer and everything seems pretty cool. I'm learning how to use the "D3" and "D4" automatic gear , so at freeway always use D4 and once I get out of it I change to D3... Is that how it's used ? The only thing I'm going to buy pretty soon is a steering wheel cover to make it a little bit thicker. Is the "granitize process" recommended ? P.S. I just hope Honda keeps this body style a couple of more years so that It keeps it's value. (Civic's have a new body style) What alarm system do you recommend for this car in the aftermarket ?
Our First Honda
And definately not our last! We have had absolutely no problems with our Honda Accord. I love it so much we just purchased a second Honda. After numerous visits to the mechanic with our 1995 Ford Escort and way too much money on break downs we traded it in for a 2000 Honda Civic Coupe EX for our kids. I feel much safer with my daughter driving this dependable car. I will be thinking about a new 2003 Honda Accord EX for our future. Great car!

Honda makes a great car.
I am very happy with Honda and their service. I have had zero mechanical issues. The only con of this vehicle is the rattles in the sunroof. I have found rust on the door flashing (the shiny trim)and the dealership fixed it immediately with no fuss. I also found rust on the lugnuts and they were also completely replaced with no problems. This car has exceeded my expectations and is a very reliable, trouble-free vehicle that also looks good.
best mid-size sedan
This is my second Accord (had a '92 Accord LX sedan w/ over 120k miles & have had no problems with it). It is amazing how Honda can improve on a car that is already great & very reliable. Improvements in technology (VTEC engine, safety, etc.), styling, & ergonomics are some of the things that I like about this car. What a joy it is to drive this car...it makes me realize how smart I am when I bought it.
A great value
After months of researching sedans in the low-$20k range I finally decided on the Accord EX V6. I've never made a better decision in my life. It's the best car out there for the money(I paid $22k). It has decent power, a smooth ride, confident handling, quality interior materials, great seats, bland- but-tasteful styling and Honda's well- known reputation for reliability.
Good Car
This is my 5th Honda, and it is the nicest one I have owned! I really like the fact that we can fit my family in and take it on trips. Quiet, and very easy to drive. A little bit of adjustment from my 2001 Civic LX, but a good adjustment. Ended up with this when my dealer suggested it was a better deal than a 2003 with the new body style.
Still the best car I've had in 30 years.
4 year review: No repair bills yet. No noises from engine, tranny, dash. Still fun to drive & can drive all day & not feel like it.
I want to like this car, but...
Purchased this car 4/14/02. In 3 weeks we heard a buzzing sound in the tranny. At the dealer, they opened the tranny and said they needed to replace a bearing. The part was ordered/installed and it was in the shop 4 days. 4 days and 100 miles later, the buzzing noise was back. Back at the dealer, I get word that Honda engineers in CA recommended replacing all the bearings in the transmission (10). The bearings were ordered and arrived in 4 days. Then, I was heard that 1 of the 10 bearings did not arrive. It's on back-order and would have to come from Japan and it's still in the shop. My 11.5 year old Dodge is more reliable.
Bewildered
I've been a Honda owner since 1986. Moved up to the EX-V6 with some reservations due to sticker price but got a really good deal I couldn't pass up. On the way home from the dealer that is 125 miles from my home my wife thought the car wasn't running right. It took a few days to determine but sure enough there is a major acceleration problem that has gotten worse over the 3 weeks of ownership. Had the car in the shop three times and Tech Support at Honda can't figure out the problem. The jury's still out on how American Honda will correct the problem but I think another car would be in order.
MY HONDA
Love the car, but would like the steering to be more like my 1986 Accords.
