Don't do it
Needed new engine after 79000 miles. Thrown rod caused metal to punch holes in 2 places in engine, blew a hole in oil pan, perforated the starter...Cost ended up being more than van was worth. Replaced transmission at 50,000. Transmission needs work again. Roof rack bolts caused rust in roof and ruined paint due to bad seal. Head gasket, fuel tank, & other warranty repairs done. MULTIPLE tie rod jobs in front. All this despite excellent maintenance by owner. WILL NEVER buy a Ford again.
piece of junk
2 head gaskets, an entire new cooling system, lots of electrical problems and a trans rebuild later, i dont think i would feel comfortable selling this car to osama bin laden. at least ford will fix the head gasket for you till 100k but that fix won't last long. the trans is as big a problem as the head, the aluminum part that they replace with a steel one is as good as an admission of guilt in my book, but ford wont pay for that. never never never buy a windstar. i grew up in a ford family, but my kids will grow up in a honda family, so long henry
anxious
I haven't driven this vehicle yet so i don't know much about it. Owner says it is in excellent condition.
Should I, or Shouldn't I???
Now I find out, just purchased this car three weeks ago. With 98,000 miles seems to be doing good. After reading all these reviews, maybe I should sell while I have the chance. Like so many of you have stated, the head gasket has been replaced on this '95' also, i was told. Anybody like nice clean van????
Disappointed by Ford
I was previously a happy 1994 Ford Ranger. So I thought that the same good experience was in store when I bought the Windstar. Wrong!!! It left us stranded on 4 occassions. I replaced the transmission for $2K, the A/C system for $1.1K, and the computer and other ignition components for about another $1k. Why did Ford allow this wreck to leave the factory? I will never trust Ford again! Sorry, you only get one chance and you had your one chance twice. The Ranger gave you another "one chance." The Windstar was your last chance. Hello Toyota, so long Ford.
