Used 2003 Ford Ranger Consumer Reviews
New 2003
This is my 2nd Ranger. I traded in a 1994 with 170,000 miles on it and it was still running strong. I like the 2003 overall. It rides a little rough on bumpy pavement as trucks do. I really like the rear doors. The gas mileage is 22mpg with a 3.55 Limited Slip Differential. I've had it for three weeks and 2700 miles and so far so good.
The best compact truck going
This is my second Ranger, last one was a 02 model. While my 02 model was a lemon in every since of the word my 03 has been fantastic. I average 22 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, and I am a very lead-footed driver. Overall perofrmance is excellent for a 4 cylinder truck, next to my 96 Accord this is the best vehicle purchase I have made.

best truck
I had many compact trucks, but the ranger beats them all. the quality of ride and the durability is by far the best i had. Off-road and on the road the ranger handles excellent. I would recommend a ranger to anyone looking for a midsize truck.
Recommend
I would definitely recommend this truck. The seats are uncomfortable if you are traveling long distances. The truck is fun to drive, although I would opt for the 4.0 if I could afford it. The 5 speed manual shifts easily, but the clutch took a day or two to get used too.
2nd Ford
I purchased this truck four weeks after buying an Explorer with the 4.0L V6 and 5spd auto. I was so pleased with the performance of the Explorer I decided to look into the Ranger. The Ranger feels very solid, the engine is strong, and the transmission is silky smooth. The ride can be rough on less- than-perfect roads. Gas mileage is reasonable for a truck with this size engine.
