Unbridled Fun!
We sold my wife's 2019 BMW X3 M40i in February 2022 and ordered a 2022 Mach-E GT Performance. We placed our Mach-E order February 8 and it just arrived (in October 2022). Although you would think the BMW is the more upscale car, and more fun to drive, the Mach-E trumps it in just about every area. Ours is the GT Performance Edition in Cyber Orange. It is a looker. It trounces our old BMW in the looks department. We have had many nice cars but none have garnered the attention we get in the Mach-E. Driving is--well--astonishment is the word that first comes to mind when you take off in this thing. The torque is amazing and you cannot help to get a big grin when you step on the pedal just a little--that wave of torque never gets old. And if you really tromp on it, it is downright scary who freakin fast this thing is. Surprisingly, the ride around town is quite smooth. Highway trips are likewise smooth, but the car could use a bit more sound dampening for highway speeds. The Ban & Olufson stereo is decent, but not great. I think the Harmon Kardon in my Outback is at least as good, if not better. And for such a heavy car, it handles quite well. One pedal driving is a hoot--we may drive this over 100,000 miles and never replace the brakes. We rarely use the brakes in this car. Charging is easy, and cheap. With our electric rates (we home charge) it would take about $9.00 to charge from near empty to 100 percent, which gives around 250-270 miles of range. During the winter, we get super low electric rates that will cut that cost to about $3.00. We have not used public charging and probably never will. We use the Mach-E for all of our local every-day driving so it is easy to keep it charged at home. For long trips, we take our Subaru Outback (another great car--especially for the money). The interior on the Mach-E is nice. Not luxurious, but not cheap. The seats are excellent. Touch materials are high quality. The big screen works well. It takes a bit of getting used to, and I would prefer to have a few physical knobs for things like the radio and A/C but overall the screen works much better than we expected. It is super fast and responsive, and very clear. The backup camera view is incredible. In summary, this is a really really good car for the money. Actually, it is a really good car even without considering cost. We have had Mercedes, BMW, Range Rover, Jaguar, Lexus--and a host of others. The Mach-E is a new favorite--that 600 plus lb-ft of torque off the line never gets old, the cabin is nicely done, the ride is surprisingly smooth and quiet, it handles quite well, and it had great looks--much better than a Tesla. My biggest gripe has to do with the buying experience. This is my first Ford since the 1970s (excluding Jaguar, which was owned by Ford when I purchased most of my Jags). Ordering on the Ford website was easy, as was tracking my order and tracking the car once it was built. But the dealer experience was the pits. First, the dealer tried to discourage us from taking delivery, saying we should wait until next year as this is one of the last 2022s--we strongly suspect this was so they could then sell the car for $10k-$20k over MSRP. Then, when we showed up to take delivery, they tried all sorts of tricks to pad their wallet. First, the added some worthless paint protection, even though I had it in writing from two of their representatives, including the new car director, that they would NOT add any extras to the car. They tried to tell me that they put it on all cars, it was already on this car, and they could not take it off. Perhaps this was another ploy to get us to walk away from taking the car. In any event, I told them I would walk and complain to Ford, and they took off the stupid paint protection charge. Then, when I asked what the taxes and registration fees were, asking for a breakdown, they hemmed and hawed and kept giving me a total number with no breakdown--so I had to go to the director--turns out that the shady character who wouldn't give me the numbers was charging double for taxes and registration--I guess they thought they could hide it in the numbers and back it out later? Who knows, but there was some sort of shenanigans going on. Then, when I told them I wanted to use the Ford Options program to purchase the car, they told me that I was crazy, that no one ever uses that, because it is no good, and said in fact they had never sold a car using Ford Options--because it was such a bad program. I'm sure Ford would love to hear that. In all, we were at the dealer for 5.5 hour to get the deal done, and this is for a car that I had ordered and there was no negotiation on the price. We should have been in and out in an hour or less. I have to say, the more upscale dealers generally give you a much better experience. So, enough venting about the shady dealer. The car has been amazing. We are very pleased with it and highly recommend it. The Mach-E is well worth the money. Our only caveat is that it probably would not be a very good only car, as the range is not great. But for a second car for local errands, with drives up to about 75-100 miles one-way, it is terrific! UPDATED 4/12/2023. We still absolutely love the Mach-E. No problems to date. Home charging is easy and inexpensive. Where we live (in Arizona), a full charge during winter months (when electricity is cheaper) is less than three dollars---during the summer, a full charge is less than ten dollars. We always charge at home so cannot opine regarding third party charging. If we will be driving more than 100 miles one-way, we take our Subaru. Range is about as predicted. But we were a bit surprised at how much range is cut for trips with lots of freeway driving. For us, this car works out great as we use it for almost all of our local errand-running and charge only at home. But real-life range for freeway driving is likely just north of 200 miles, which would make me nervous if this was my only car. Updated April 2025. We still love this car. I am amazed every time I drive it by how quiet and smooth it is. And you never tire of the monstrous torque--even though we rarely use it to even 50% of potential. We have had the car now over 2 years and have almost 14k miles on it. No problems so far. We replaced the OE Pirelli P-Zeros at 13,000 miles with Pirelli all-seasons. The all-seasons actually have a bit nicer ride, and, surprisingly, are a bit more efficient. We still only use the car for every-day around the city type trips. We charge only at home. Although we love the car, we would probably pass on it if we needed a vehicle to regularly make long trips. But fortunately we have a Subaru Outback that we use for anything more than 100 miles away.

Great first attempt at building a mainstream BEV
Mine is the Premium AWD with the extended range battery. It was a 2021 when I ordered it, but it ended up being a 2022 when it was delivered. Ford honored my original order price along with any rebates and financing deals they had at the time. This included the 2021 CA Clean Air Vehicle rebate! It’s a great car with great overall build quality and features. Most of the reviews hit all of the high points, so I will list the low points that I have experienced since I took delivery of the car. I also own a Tesla Model 3 so I will compare the features against that. 1. Phone as a Key works 50% of the time when you walk up to the car and push the button to unlock. I sometimes have to kill the phone app, start it again and hold the unlock button in the app to access the vehicle. I now give up when it doesn’t unlock after the first push and use the door keypad to get in. Tesla’s Phone Key is much better and works 100% of the time. 2. Walk away lock works great and it sends you a push notification when it locks so you can be sure that it does. The phone app won’t give you a status of the lock state of the car like the Tesla app. One annoying thing I wish Ford would implement in a future update is the ability to keep the car unlocked at a location. I keep my windows open in my garage sometimes and when I go to grab something out of the car through the windows, the alarm will sound and it takes forever to turn it off with the phone app. I know I can turn off motion on the alarm, but I swear it keeps turning itself back on (which is what I’ve noticed with a few settings I’ve set). Tesla has this feature where you can set it to not auto-lock when you’re at a home location. 3. Charge settings can only be set once you plug it into the charger and set up a charge location…at least in my experience. This is annoying since I have to plug the car in before I can change the charge limit (like from 60% to 90 or 100%). Although I do like that you can fine tune the charge window for peak/off-peak charging. The Tesla lets you do this at anytime in the app, but you can only set a time to charge or a time to finish by. 4. The fixed-glass panoramic roof is nice, but could be tinted darker or have a thicker UV coating on it? It heats up the cabin quite a bit compared to the tesla’s glass roof. 5. The connected navigation is not as good as Ford’s Sync 3 version and nowhere near as good as the Tesla’s proprietary/google version.

Unbridled fun
Impressed by fit and finish. Ford has jumped the shark with this product. This car is the future. Comfortable seats front and rear. Excellent visibility. GT version has less cargo space in hatch due to larger battery, a trade that I am more than happy to make. Substantial learning curve for electronics, however customization is extensive. Ford app works well with my i-phone. Purchased home charge port running on a 60 amp breaker it pulls 48amps, recharging from 20% takes about 8-10 hrs. Last 10% takes the longest. Car is very quick with typical instant electric torque. Handling is impressive considering the weight. I own a Porsche 911 and an Audi Q5 and this car is FUN to drive. Eerily quiet around town, some wind noise on the highway. Blue cruise work so well I find myself bored on the highway with not much to do except look forward. Sound system is the best of any car I have owned. Hardly any maintenance to be done, tire rotation, cabin filter, and just a bunch of things to check but nothing to replace. One pedal driving is a must for regenerative braking. It works well and is fun learning how to anticipate stopping making the most of net positive electron flows. Now for the rants. Not much utility considering they call it an sUv. Cargo area is small, no trailer hitch option and no roof rails for carring. Glass roof is huge but no sun shade and doesn't open. When in one pedal driving mode shifting from forward to reverse causes the car to roll freely which is unexpected considering that when one pedal driving is engaged if you remove your foot from the accelerator the car stops, Only did one 190 mile trip so far, Highway driving at 75mph decreases range from a stated 270 miles to about 220-230 miles at 75 degrees with a light load. Stopped at a 50KW DC fast charger and picked up 70 miles in about 13 minutes. Car is a great commuter/local driving vehicle however long distances in cold weather requires patience and extra time for charging which most people don't have. I am a happy customer. No issues so far with 2,000miles in. High quality tires came with it, and a variety of adapters and charging cords. Don't like not having a traditional printed owners manual. Operating costs are extremely low, costing me approximately $16/charge at home with no significant maintenance. Brakes should last indefinetly considering most stopping can be done with regen one pedal driving. I am a satisfied happy customer so far. Great job Ford! 7,000 miles all is well. No repair issues. Range in the winter is diminished. Not a problem for local driving but we routinely do a 190mile highway trip. 80 mph with the heat on doesn’t give me the range I need. Slowing down to 70-75 mph and relying on seat heaters is required. Highway charging infrastructure is still problematic. Never know if charger is available or working. Not Fords fault but still unsettling. All EV suffer from the same charging issues except for Tesla. They heavily invested in their charging network. 14,00miles and 14 months later still feel the same about the vehicle. Rear cargo area shade is worthless. Flaps annoyingly when windows are open and it is in place. WiFi updates are convenient. 22k updates Battery has lost 22 miles of range. High voltage controller had to be replaced twice. That’s the bad news. Good news I still agree with all previous statements

Fun car to drive - be prepared for an EV
I have the GT with extended range and AWD. The car has excellent acceleration, especially from a start or passing. Very good handling for what is really a crossover. Large interior, also common to ev’s. I guess they stole the idea of a large touch screen from Tesla and while I’d prefer more dedicated knobs and buttons (especially for heat), you get used to where things are, just draws too much attention. Plenty of room in the back and a nice extra storage up front (aka “Frunk”) Negatives are that it’s not an SUV as advertised, no tow bar nor roof rack capabilities. New England winters drop range to about 180 + reserve (haven’t pushed it below 20 miles of range yet) so you really have to plan your travels if this is your only car. The good bit there is that Ford has a good estimating algorithm so you can at least count on the range displayed.

A mustang at long last
I have wanted a Mustang since I saw “Goldfinger“. Based on reviews we bought the Mach E when we unexpectedly needed a new car and decided to go electric. We love this car! We have the GT in bright blue and people stop us to ask us about the car. The pick up is incredible and really helpful merging onto the highway. The screen is easy to read and use. There are so many cool things, like the frunk with the drain so you can use it as an ice chest, the “puddle light” with the Mustang logo which appears on the ground when you open the door at night and the overall styling. My one complaint is the circular shift. It takes a while getting used to. But overall this is the best car we have ever bought!

Electric driving
Love my Mach-e. AWD for new england weather, reasonable range and good pickup. The quiet, comfortable ride is what sold the car for me. I use the dash board almost exclusively while driving and like the large monitor for navigation. Hatch is large and cargo space is very good for trips to the grocery store and home improvement store. In the winter, the frunk is great to keep stuff cold on your way home from the store and since it has a drain, it can be filled with ice for summer drives. Update: The vehicle now has almost 88K miles on it and I have not noticed any significant change in battery range. Winter range is definitely lower than summer range, I wish I had a heat pump to generate heat! The resistive heater is a real energy hog, to conserve range I will often turn off the internal heat during long drives. I use the frunk all the time to keep cold things cold and warm things warm (in insulated bags), depending on the weather. I have only tried filling the frunk with ice once for a summer meet-up and it worked reasonably well (not great but is was really warm that day), I will do it again if i need cold drinks on a warm day and I forgot to bring the cooler when going to the store. I still very much enjoy my Mach-E

Lives up to the hype
I received my Mach 1 California route 1 after a 6 month wait. Though I didn’t get frequent updates as to when the car would be delivered, the updates I did get were accurate. I ordered the car in iced blue metallic and was extremely pleased with the color. I have a 80 mile commute every day and the mileage has far surpassed what it is rated for. My 50 amp ChargePoint home charger works great to charge to 90% in a couple of hours. With my electric rates, it cost me $3.00 a day to travel that 80 mile daily distance - and this has been in Colorado mountain weather from 20 - 60 degrees. The car is super fun to drive and the Blue Oval system works along my whole route. Once you learn that using this system, you can drive without touching the brake or gas pedal and simply holding on to the steering wheel. Remember this is Mountain Driving between Glenwood Springs and Aspen. Keep in mind that I replaced my BMW x-4 (performance package) with the Mach E. One note. I do not have the premium stereo but it still sounds more than acceptable. The only negatives is the inability to tow and the Ford Pass App. I have learned to use the app with all of its clunkiness but definitely not as slick as the Mach E.

2022 GT Performance Edition top of the line
Purchased Mach e 3 weeks ago. 2nd day the parking brake would not release and could not get car to move into gear. Got a warning on screen to return to dealer immediately for service. On my fourth attempt at turning off vehicle and attempting to restart and place in drive or reverse the car responded. My Walnut Creek Dealer has had the car for a week and still cant resolve issue with the help of Ford engineering team even with code showing issue. Ford even advised to look for lose connections! Only 127 miles and the dealer has had the car longer than I have, Also had fast acceleration while using hands free driving mode and was told that you have to be very attentive! Really...had I not swerved the vehicle and hit brakes I would have rammed cars in front of me!! At this point I am going to make Dealer take the car back. I am very frustrated with experience. Only one tech at present time qualified to work on Mach E! Still in service bay waiting for advice from Ford.

Fun and well made car.
Awesome driving experience. Have never owned a Ford but after looking closely at and driving competitive EV's, we decided on the Mach E. It is so much fun! Crazy, right- now acceleration & great handling. Ride is firm but not harsh. Having owned BMW's for years, ride and handling isn't that different with this model of Mach E. Build quality and fit & finish is excellent. Very nice, quite and comfortable interior with a great sound system. It is an EV so there are lots of customizable options and connected features with the onboard control/ display interface which is really easy to use but does takes some familiarization & getting used to. The live connected smart phone integration provides lots of useful data and driving insight. Self driving feature has been flawless.

One Great Pony!
I was one of the first owners in Denver Colorado and glad I took the risk! Ours is the AWD with the large battery and most every option. From day one it’s been perfect the one pedal drive is fun you never use the breaks. The mileage is strong average about 270 - 310 miles when warm but in the winter you loose 35% especially when using the heat. We save about $200 per month on gas and charging costs about $8 from 20-80 percent plus it’s overnight so it’s easy. My only complaint is the phone app Ford needs to look at the EV6 app it’s much better. We own both the EV6 and Mach-e both are great but the Pony is the better drivers car.
Mach Wheeeeee
An excellent EV from Ford, of all places, but they've established themselves as one of the front runners in the EV space with this car, the F150 Lightning, E-transit, and others. Kudos to them. I have a 2022 Extended Range AWD Premium, and very few complaints. It's as quick as you'd ever need a car to be. It's very quiet, and there's plenty of storage with the frunk. Sync 4A can lag a bit at times, but for the most part, the touch screen is very responsive. The Ford Pass app is a little clunky but also cool to have so much info about your car on your phone, and will improve with time. I really enjoy starting and locking/unlocking my car with Apple Watch, I have a shortcut from preferred Watch face for it. Only real con about this car is the suspension on everything but the GT-Performance trim (which gets Magneride) - the regular suspension is stiff and a bit unsettled, and will sometimes give you an extra "bounce" when you hit something at speed. All manufacturers are learning to deal with the heavy weight of EVs, so I suspect this will improve in future versions of the car. This can be fixed aftermarket though, if it really bothers you (KWV3, I'm looking at you). Other than this issue though, I have no regrets on my purchase, and would make it again in a heartbeat. It looks and feels like driving the future, and I love

Mustang Mach-E - we are hooked
We purchased our ordered Mach-E in November 2022. It is remarkably comfortable and fun to drive. We ordered it with the Comfort & Technology Package (and highly recommend it). We had a Grizzl-E Classic EV charger installed. The car has the feature to set charging parameters so a smart charger is unnecessary. We considered keeping our ICE vehicle while making the transition to an EV. We glad we decided to trade the car anyway. We would buy this car all over again. It's just what we hoped it would be.

Like it as much as my Macan
Now that I have 15k miles on the car I'm ready to talk... Premium trim 2 wheel drive, 230 mile range... First the bad, but not really... Windshield and sunroof had to be resealed. The dealer had the car for three days, and gave us a nice loaner. There was a software recall in June that required another hald a day drop off at the dealer. Lastly the rear seatbelt did not recoil back into place... two weeks for the part. Ford's techs always look a bit puzzled when asked questions. Yes its not a five liter... they are also really interested on if you like it... yep, I do. The Good and great: easy to charge in the garage (40amp-220v). Don't need to buy a juice box or wall box, the supplied cable works great. I just saved you five hundred bucks. Rides as well and quieter than my Macan S. Blows the BMW X3 away (my dogs to the beach car). B&O stereo is the best I've owned in a vehicle, Car play and maps are effortless, phone as a key is a great feature... buy ford only gives you one key (that may have changed). Its fast...its quiet... its good looking... pro tip: buy the ford rubber mats and don't waste money on the junk from weathertech... I wasted a few hundred bucks on that junk... get in line if you want one.

Cool Car
This car is by far the coolest car I've owned. Overall, this has been a great upgrade from my 2012 Chevy Volt. I have the Comfort/Technology package. The BlueCruise takes some getting used to, but it works great on the highway. The infotainment system can be a little difficult to navigate. The best bet is to try and use voice commands when possible. Apple Carplay works really well and the integration with Apple Maps is fantastic. I'm also pretty pleased with how well Phone-as-a-Key (PAAK) works. I generally leave my car keys at home now. If you have issues with it, just open the FordPass app and make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. That's resolved any issues I've had so far. The ride and handling on this vehicle are pretty good. I wish it had a little sharper turning radius, but I'm also used to driving smaller cars.

great around town
Really like my Mach E, only complaint about yhe vehicle is losing 40% of my range in winter. The biggest gripe I have os the lack of charging stations in the Midwest. There's really only one rapid charger between Chicago and Indianapolis, in Lafayette. The last time I was there, only one charger was putting out over 50KwH, and several cars were waiting. The infrastructure for EV's is nowhere near ready for prime time. Not sure what the big 3 are thinking, eliminating ICE vehicles. Car has lost half its value in 18 months, still no chargers anywhere, regretting buying it.

She is a bad girl!
I have owned mine for 8 months and waited to see how it all settled before I wrote it all up. I love this car and it won’t be my last. I’ve owned many vehicles in a wide range of price points. I currently have a Lexus ES as well. I’d rather drive the MME any day. I took what I could find so I would have went Premium if one had been available but am just good since I’ve added heated seats. I live in New England and the AWD is much more capable than our Subaru. I don’t have one fear about driving this thing any where or any time. It isn’t as comfortable as the Lexus but it’s not suppose to be. Went shopping for a RAV4 Prime but luckily I hated it and came home with this beauty instead.

Better than expected
I have been waiting for a really COOL all EV for five years. Traded in a 2018 Volt hybrid. I've looked at every EV out there and didn't find on that nocked my socks off. The new Cadillac Lyriq caught my attention. I went ahead and bought the Mach E and thought I would trade it in on the Lyriq in a couple of years. I really like my Mach E. It's fast, comfortable, quiet and looks great. The new Lyriq will have to be really great to get me to switch. We'll see!

Best car I've ever owned!
Wanted to go to an electric vehicle after having a Prius for many years. What an upgrade! I love my Prius and we are keeping it, but the Mach-E is in a league of its own. Incredible acceleration. Premium interior. Comfortable for passengers as well in the back. My one wish list item would be higher ground clearance so it would live up to the SUV classification fully. However, that is a small nit. This is a great car, and with the extended battery pack I have yet to experience any range issues.

Seatbelts ripped off in my hand really ford
The limitations and the promises made by this car after waiting for two years have been absolutely horrible. The car is mid rid of electronic problems in ghosts in the machine where things come and go and Ford pass app constantly telling you there's issues and then they go away. From loud clunking noises in the drivetrain to strange tones going off in the car while you're driving for no reason stay away from this car at all costs. To mention the fact that they provide it with defective seatbelts.

Extremely Overpriced! Even at MSRP
That car is fast, yes. The cars looks good, yes. Decent sound system; nice, beautiful glass roof! Yes, for $1500 more. See, that is the problem right now, and people don’t see it. I test drove the GT with Performance package which right now is about $70k, and that is, if you are lucky enough to find a car sales agent with a little integrity, which in reality is extremely unlikely (they do exist, though). “Delivery” is no longer the usual $750 I usually see on other cars, even if it comes from Germany. Well, check the window sticker for these - $750? No - $1100 AND up to $1400. The car is made here, in the US, and still, this is a “non-negotiable” fee that the customer needs to pay for. How? Why? This is where we start. The interior of the car is NOT good. The quality of the materials simply doesn’t make you feel like your money went somewhere (and that is a lot of money; there is a lot of competition out there for that amount of money). Steering wheel feels cheap, seats are nicer on the base model (yes, the seats are simply ugly on the performance model, and you cannot make changes). With the tax incentive it does make it more attractive, but that doesn’t help with the $1100+ monthly payment at 5% interest (interest rates are extremely high- credit at 776). As a daily driver, the advertised 276 miles of range will only be attainable if you simply changes lanes and move the steering wheel - in other words, you have almost 500 hp at your disposal; you should be able to have a little fun. Right? I floored it a couple of times (drove the car for about 30 minutes, to get a good idea). And my range dropped to 136 miles. Yes, 136 miles left of “fun”. To summarize, extremely overpriced - I wouldn’t pay more than 57-62k for the GT PERFORMANCE model PLUS the incentive. Yeah, it’s a “Mustang”. But, why should I pay more for just to have the Mustang horse displayed on the front of the car? Because that is all it is. The Tesla Model Y is a better car all around. The range is higher; the batteries are of better quality, and you get so much more range, even though it doesn’t look as good from outside 🤷🏻♂️. The MACH E base models should not exceed 50k and the GT should come with the performance package included at around 58k - 62k, PLUS incentive. Not a good decision…. Wait a few months and you will see how your interior will start to deteriorate. Also, the range changes abruptly. They should have made it a little slower for the sake of range. Who needs 500 horsepower anyway? If that is the case, get an ICE vehicle, and wait for battery tech to get a little better. If I could wrap my head around those ugly looking kidney grills of the BMW I4 or the ix4, there would not even be a decision to make. Sorry, Mustang enthusiasts. It’s all hype - don’t be fooled.

Love it all … Since I ordered my 2021 vehicle and it was changed to a 2022 vehicle l think I should have been able to get my 2022 vehicle at the same price as a 2021🤔

Quick and Quit
This is a great fun vehicle to drive. I haven't had any issues with the car and charging is great at home. I have only charged it 3 times in the past month, and it only cost me about $6.50 per charge. I go to 90% and get about 213 miles per charge. I am very happy with the car.
