A sedan that drives like a sports car
This Fusion replaces a Mustang GT. With the 2.3L/5-speed manual, it feels like I'm still driving the Mustang. Plenty of power for powering away from traffic lights. Plenty of leg room in the back seat and a huge trunk. Great styling in the front, only so-so in the back.
Glad to see Ford can produce good cars
I am overall extremely pleased with my car, but there were 2 features that really took some getting used too. First was the rear window - not a whole lot of viewing going on back there, and second I'm about 5'10" and I had to do quite a bit of seat adjusting to not rub my head against the ceiling all the time. I replaced the stereo because there was no iPod hookup, but the stock speakers are great. My car is fully loaded, and I mean fully. I bought it with every feature they had listed and I got a killer deal. This car is HOT! and I am proud to be an owner. Did I mention its maroon or dark red; however you view it, it's like butter!
Don't buy it
I have had my fusion since March of 2006. The 3 yr/36,000 mile warranty is gone and so is my transmission. I have had crappy gas mileage on this car pretty much since I bought it. Ford says I need to replace the transmission because of a bad solenoid and they will contribute $1000.00 to the cause. Ghee thanks Ford! If it wasn't for the crappy transmission I wouldn't need your help at all. Will not buy another Ford!
Excellent First Car!
I purchased my 2006 Ford Fusion used from a private seller with 125,000 miles. It was the best first car I could have asked for. It was stylish and comfortable and super reliable. Not one thing went wrong with it the entire time I owned it (I sold it with 165,000 miles). I kept up with minimal regular maintenance and the Fusion kept up with me. I was a teenager when I bought the car so I drove it fast and hard. It took a beating and didn't show any signs of wear. It was extremely safe too! The only thing that I wish it had is an auxiliary input. 2006 is a little late for a car to NOT have that. All in all the Fusion was an amazing vehicle and I miss driving it.

Worst car I have ever owned
Bought this because Ford had better financing at the time. By far the worst car I have ever owned. I drive highway to work and only get 23 MPG (compared to the 29 it was listed at). It has been in the shop several times in the first two years with transmission problems. Going back to the shop now because the driver seat broke. Turning radius is horrible. Without traction control, can't get it to move on even a dusting of snow. This was the first and last Ford I will ever own. The value of it has dropped so much I can't even afford to get rid of it since I still owe double what it is worth. I wouldn't recommend this car to anyone.
