Excellent Tow Vehicle
Replaced a 1999 F-250 Superduty with this beast, and was surprised at the improvement! Much more quiet, much easier to drive (especially towing a 9500 lb horse trailer on the highway in a crosswind), and much more upscale. Got the V-10 with the 5-speed auto trans and 4.10 rear end. Had the opportunity to use the 4-wheel drive to get through a muddy field to park the horses, and was one of the few to do so without the aid of a tractor. Overall, this is the best of breed for towing, and my horse-owning friends are envious of my new rig.
F350 diesel woes
Buyer beware, the Fuel mileage is terrible. I get 11.8 around town. The twin turbo gimmick is only that a gimmick. I get so much turbo lag it's crazy it's dangerous to pull out in front of on coming traffic. The backup camera, gate step and folding mirrors are the best thing about the truck. That sound like a 50K truck to you?

Super Dooty
Purchased my 2008 Ford F350 Lariat 6.4L Diesel one year ago with 91,000 miles, not bad for a diesel. Blood red, dark tint, black wheels, leather interior, 6” lift, the works. CarFax was 100% clean with regular maintenance at dealerships and only two previous owners here in sunny Arizona. WORST VEHICLES HANDS DOWN THAT I HAVE EVER OWNED!!! I have previously owed 2 Super Duty’s and both had the V10 in them and also owned one F150. Two with 6” lifts and the other with an 8” lift. First off the V10 never let me down, never broke down or stranded me and had decent pulling power. Those V10’s are bullet proof. Had no issues with the F150 either… Let me list all the issues with my new Super Duty and diesel engine in last 10 months: • Fan Clutch went out • Both (yes 2) ERG coolers out • Injectors went out • Fuel dumped in to oil • Coolant burned up in ERG’s • Steering box …out…had it replaced • Back up sensors…out • 4X4 won’t engage • All controls on steering wheel quit working….. completely out • Random sensors go out shutting down both turbos and putting truck in limp mode. One time shut down while heading up North. • And those F’ing rear seat shoulder belts rattling on the plastic This truck is a piece of crap that has cost me over $5,000 in repairs within 10 months of owing it. As soon as I cut a check to the repair shop for $1,500 on this round of repairs…driving straight to a dealership and trading it in. Feel sorry for the next fool that gets this truck.

2009 F-350 Super Duty FX4
This is the second Ford Super Duty we have owned. Our first was a 2006 F-250 Diesel and the vehicle smoked like crazy. The dealer could never fix it, we got rid of it with 19,000 miles on it and bought a 2009 F-350 FX4 Diesel. What a mistake that was. We have a fifth wheel trailer which is why we need a Super Duty diesel. The truck bucks and chugs when the trailer is on, Ford doesn't know what to do to fix it. The truck has also gone into limp mode 3 times while going up hill on the highway with the trailer on the back. We go from 65 mph to 50 instantly and then have to limp it off the road. Ford cannot find the problem. We are going to buy a Dodge now, I will not buy another Ford.
Best Truck I've Ever Owned!
First off I don't know why the submodels on edmunds do not include the 6.4 but anyway. I don't know what these people are talking about with this truck being unreliable. I've had six Ford Super Duties, four of them being the 2008 model.(I buy a lot of vehicles)I've never had an issue with the 6.4L Powerstroke, the truck can pull a 18,000lb gooseneck like it's nothing, the interior is impeciable, and it is one sexy body style. Most of the negative reviews I'm seeing are gas F350s and I have a question, Who buys a Super Duty with intent to tow and doesn't select the "diesel" option?? I've taken my 08's through some tough terrain and pulled a lot of heavy trailers without having a single issue.
