Used 2001 Ford F-250 Super Duty Consumer Reviews
Great (big) truck
No problems in 34000 miles. One recall for seat belt buckle in the shop for about 30 minutes. 17 miles per gallon with 7.3 diesel. Great view from up there. Lots of respect from the little vehicles. Back seat like a couch for adults and large pets.
Quality is not job 1
Other than the new transmission, transfer case, front wheel bearings, air bag parts, oxygen sensor and bad fuel mileage this is a great truck. Perofrmance wise it is great, although it does squat pretty bad with a full load on the back. I have a fisher 8' plow on the front and salt spreader on the back which the truck handles great. The fuel mileage is about 10- 11 mpg local 13 highway (with a 4:10 rear). If this truck had not given me so many reliabilty issues I would put up with the mileage but I feel Ford has failed on this one.

Big bad 250
This truck is awesome! It is awesome for off roading due to its ground clearance and 4.10 gears. If only it had the power of Chevy's 6.0 v8.
BEWARE
Problems with the tranny, front axle, driveline, alignment. After about 40 days total for repairs and 15 times at the dealer Ford finally bought it back under the lemon law. The dealership continually made excuses! At least Ford stepped up and re-purchased the vehicle.
Great
I owned a 1986 Ford F-250 Diesel. It has lasted 13 years with me. It had 300,000 miles on it and was still going strong. But I needed a newer truck. Looked for months; couldn't find one until I found a F-250 Powerstroke diesel. I am getting around 18 mpg. It is great going back and forth from work. Rides great, feels sturdy and feels like it is always going to stay on the road. I didn't get the shift on the fly because I go offroad a lot and work in construction. The diesel engine runs great and has a lot of power and it is nice to have a turbo on the engine.
