SRT-4
GREAT TO DRIVE.HAS MORE THAN ENOUGH POWER TO PUT YOU BACK IN YOUR SEAT. HANDLES GREAT EVEN ON THE BANKS OF HOMESTEAD RACEWAY.
Had a neon before? This is way different
I am going on one month of ownership and this vehicle handles like a champ! It outperforms all cars under 25000 and most cars under 30000...barring the handling of the miata.

Not a bad car for the buck
I bought this car used a little over two years ago this month and I was well pleased with it. I fell for the style and the color of it. Mine is electric blue with a spoiler. A couple of things I don't like are that the car is very harsh over bumps and over exaggerates on any kind of road its on. I've had to change the transmission at 75,000 miles which I was upset about. The interior is ok but I feel like Dodge could of taken it a little further than just cheap hard plastic. I like the seats in the neon as well however I can't stand that everything stains the seats (even water). Back seats sit 4 comfortably even 6,0 guys like me, the fronts seats are cramped. The car overall is a good buy
Thumbs up
Very practical for a family car, but has performance that screams. We average bout 25 MPG. I've owned 25 cars over the past 6 years (not all new), including several muscle cars and high performance imports, and this is head over heels the most enjoyable, invigorating ride I've ever been in. The radio is awesome, the noise is very tolerable and the space is very roomy- the back seat will not knock your knees at all! The trunk will also hold 2 dead bodies (hopfully no fruition there).
Blow Away Others-Not Your Budget
I bought this vehicle after doing a lot of research on the internet. And you know what? They were right! This IS the most bang for the buck out there and a quality vehicle to boot. It's track or street ready right from the dealership and there is a ton of aftermarket items available to let you break the speed of sound.
i love this car
It is very fast and fun to drive. The design is amazing, it has the same seats as the dodge viper. It has a 70,000 bumper to bumper warenty which for a turbo charged car is very rare. It has great handeling and a cool look. I promise you will be happy with this car. It has a very sporty and zippy feel to it but it also it has plenty room for all sizes. Plus for the price, it is unbeatable. able to beat any car in it's class and can out do many cars that are in the upper classes. I rate it a 10!!!
New 2004 changes make this a MUST have!
With 500 miles behind me now I am just more and more amazed how much car Dodge crammed into the price of $21k. This car has unsurpassed braking ability, incredible acceleration and total road holding ability. This is the new car by which all others will be judged. Finding one was tough and the fact that most dealers will stick to selling the car at the MSRP means that anyone that wants one can with a bit of patience have one. 2004 model year changes such as more horsepower, limited slip differential & better tires then last year alone makes this car such a great deal. Dodge did their homework on these issues and it shows every time you put your foot in it.
Love my SRT-4
I owned some muscle cars when I was younger and I think this little Dodge is every bit as much fun to drive as any of them were. The acceleration is incredible for a 4 cylinder engine and the styling is a real head turner.
A R Pocket Rocket
This is flat out scary- a real pocket rocket! Reminds me of Carrol Shelby in his prime but sounds like the muscle car of the 60's. Seats let you know you are in a real sports car. Everythng in its size and class just watches as you go by. Not for the timid!
Surprisingly reliable
My husband bought this car new before we met. Personally, I wouldn't have figured a Dodge to be all that reliable. But he looked pretty hot in his black sporty car. So I married him! (just kidding, mostly) I'm pleased to say this car has been extremely reliable. No major mechanical work - maintenance costs only. The 6 CD changer died after only a couple of years. The hook securing the driver side sun visor broke. We started to get uncomfortable in this car with the arrival of our daughter. Exercise stroller doesn't fit in the trunk. Hard to get baby in and out - have bumped her head countless times. Three adults and a baby is almost excruciating for the adult in the back.
The best bang for your buck
Buy this car. That's all I can say.
Poor Gas Milage
This car was rated at about 26 miles per gallon, I have not been able to get above 20 MPG and that was when I never let it go above 2500 RPM.. so very slow starts..and then it only hit 20MPG, avg since I have had it is about 17 MPG. Very poor for small car with 4 cyl engine. I get 25 with my V-6 Chevy S-10 Pick-up 1993 model.
Poor Man's Viper
Went to the dealer ship with no intention of purchasing a vehicle for myself.Read the specs on different vehicles available. When I saw the specs on the srt-4 my heart started racing. I saw a red one on the lot and went and looked at it and liked what I saw. When the sales person came back I mentioned that if they had one on the lot in a different color I just might buy one. Well it just so happened they had a one in electric blue. It took just one test drive to convince me that this car was all it had promised and more.
"Let's run em!!" MOPAR OR NO CAR!!!
At first i wanted an MS3, they're great cars. Only problem is, they're as plentiful and as common as roaches!! Every1 i know has on and it sucked for me in making my nxt performance decision. I looked at the cobalt ss supercharged, but then i remembered my brother had 1 and i was always told to stay away from civics. so the nxt logical choice was the srt-4. I can't tell you how glad I am to be the owner of this car. IT IS AWESOME!! picked mine up, she was stock. added a few things..(Mpx exhaust,, BIG front mount, greddy turbo timer, AEM intake, and AGP wastegate) and now she's unstoppable. I eat stngs, comaros, Z's, WRXs, GTIs, MS3s for breakfast!! I can even hang with GS vettes. Great car!!
good at times.. horrible at times
i got this car with 95,000 miles and now have 132,000 thats it for now i dont plant on driving it anymore. The ECU is done.. I dont think its worth the money to fix this car. I have already replaced the transmission and the cam shaft sensor. I have changed the oil and filter religiously since i have gotten it. I just bought some new tires as well. In the end the car is decent looking for its size and pretty comfortable for a big guy like me even. But it is horrible quality and uses horrible parts.
Very surprised
Was looking for a daily driver for my wife. She had a 96 Ford Windstar and my kids are grown, so I was looking for something good on gas. After looking at Corolla, Scion, Protege, and Aveo, I decided on the Neon. Got the best price (leftover 2004), more of the "creature comforts" (CD player, AC, power everything) and the dealership was offering free maintenance and tires as long as you own the car - now how can you beat that? The resale of the car concerns me but my wife had her Windstar for nine years and never complained, so I hope to have this car as long. She is happy and so am I but I never, ever, thought I would own a Dodge - had a bad Omni experience years ago.
srt4
dopest car ever! so fast for so cheap, you cant find a cooler car in the market for this kind of money, or even 5k more!
Sharpie's SRT 4
My SRT 4 has lived up to my expectations. Ordinary driving I am getting about 24 MPG. However, zoomy driving it drops to under 20 rather quickly. I have had more people look at and comment about this car than any car I have ever owned (both young and old). I am 51 years old and I think it is fanastic! It's very compfortable, stylish, fast, feels safe and is just plain fun! No more worries about getting onto the interstate fron an onramp! Believe me!
Could have done better
Had mine 4 years, put 75,000 miles on it and bought it brand new. It's a good car. I have really had no problems until recently, but it has yet to leave me stranded. I'm getting strange codes and my transmission is acting berserk. The 6 disk changer was a mistake and I'm very upset with performance. I've lost several cds into the unknown in there and had to replace the thing twice. Other than that its a smooth ride, once i get my current problem fixed (still don't know what it is). Great speakers, cool look, smooth ride, almost no blind spots. Great first car. I won't get another though. Sorry dodge, but i can't take the electrical problems.
Fun on the cheap
This car is fun to drive, easy to park in the city, and can beat most everything off the green light-- while still providing room for groceries and the baby seat. The interior build quality is quite good for a car that is less than $22,000 with a moon roof. The suspension and 17 inch wheels hold the road beautifuly, and in the city I find the comfort going over potholes quite reasonable for a sporty car. It's a great value for anyone who wants to cheat the ordinary everyday driveing experience, without paying the full freight of a Viper or Corvette.
S2000 KILLER!!!
i bought this car 1 month ago, then, i got really surpirsed about this car. it is FAST, COMFORT, and CAN BEAT MOST CARS ON THE ROAD! my friend got Honda S2000 and that was cheap freak. i raced with BMW M3 Coupe and beated by little gap. but M3 driver was shocked about my srt-4 can chase him that thight. i plan to replace turbo to large one.
dodge neon
I have realy enjoyed my dodge neon. It has been a very good car for a wonderful price. There are only two things I would change about it: the car needs a bigger gas tank and the interior of the car need to be changed.
Unreliable and Untrustworthy
I have now had this vehicle for approximately 2 years. It is now just over 112,000 miles. Just in the past 4 months, we have had to replace the transmission, both front tie rods and the radiator. The front windshield has a large crack from the drivers side to the passengers side which I refuse to replace at this time. The transmission went with little warning indication that it was 'going'. Vehicle has been serviced on a fairly regular basis and is not abused.
happy!
Nothing but a joy
SRT MINE
Well the best thing about this car is it is a sleeper. It looks like a neon but woah watch out it has power of a race tuned machine. 0-60 in 5.6 seconds, great gas mileage if you keep your foot of the gas. all around good car.
It's been wonderful
It's been almost four years and, other than gas and oil, the car has cost me a set of tires, spark plugs, and a battery. I couldn't be happier. Zero quality problems. I've got just over 59,000 miles and it still runs like new. Dollar for dollar, this may be the best car sold in the U.S. in 2004.
HOT HOT HOT
Im 39 And I Have To say Dodge is Still King Of the Muscle cars what a Bang for your buck at 20,000 grand and to think with just a little tweeking and peeking you can make it go even faster
03 dodge
i needed a new car that got better gas milage and was an automatic because i extended my work drive and i am very happy with my purchase.
awsome car
handels great nice suspension
best first car i could have hoped for
i bought my neon used from the original owner. i've had it for about 7 months now. this is also my first car that i bought myself. after spending two months looking for the right car, one that was cheap and good quality, i found that i made a great dicision. the guy i bought the car from took great care of it and so it still looks fantastic, and runs very well too. i like only having to spend 25 dollars for a gas fill up too. and the sound system is terrific with sub woofers and an amp in the trunk. plus, it attracts a lot of people's attention with the spoiler and ground effects. overall, i think i made a great choice with a car that im sure will last me a very long time.
The little neon that rocks
I purchased this vehicle on day while visitng a Dodge dealership with a friend interested in buying a truck. I had no intention of buying a new car. The Neon I bought was on the showroom floor and caught my eye immediately. I asked to sit in it. The dealership did me one better. They gave me the keys and told me to take it home for the night. Needless to say, it never made it back to the showroom floor. i signed the papers the next morning and have enjoyed this vehicled ever since. I pleasure to drive. Comfortable, plenty room, GREAT gas mileage and style is incredibly nice. A REAL nice car!!
AN AQUIRED TASTE
After driving the car now for a month, It still surprises me with it's power and roadhandling capability. Turbo lag is non-existant and the car never stops pulling.
awsome
this car is fun to drive. Looks very fast the only complain would be that you can't install anything to the engine without messing up the censors.
Suprise, Surprise, Surpise!!
I went to the dealer looking for a different car. Well, not so good credit landed me my neon. WOW!!! I am so happy that I got it. I've had it for about 4 years and only took it to the garage once. The mechanic was not too happy to hear it was a Neon, well after he test drove it after the fix, he was in love with MY car!! No complaints, but that for a small car it's not very fuel efficient. Other than that, I recommend this car. LOVE IT!
srt4 fun factor
the srt4 is a very fun vehicle. The seats are a bit too much and the exterior is very appealing to the public. The overall feeling of driving this vehicle is very exciting and I look forward in driving the srt4 everyday.
Can go faster for cheaper
This car land Dodge smack in the middle of the "Tuner" market. In a scramble for cheap speed, some of the other manufacturers have forgoten just that. For example, your Subaru's wrx's and your Mitsubishi's lancer evo's. You may be able to go faster, but you wont be able to go faster for cheaper. There isnt a car out there in the $20k range that even compares to this little pocket rocket. If you find one, dont hesitate to buy it, as that would be the best buy on the planet. Dodge has also given it one of the longest warranties out there. 7yrs/70k miles. Lets see the competition top that..... Go american muscle......
2004 Neon
Great car. I owned an original Neon and got 165K miles and 10 years of good service out of it. I walked out of the dealer with this one for $13,040 including tax and tags. Did I mention there is a $2500 rebate? The imports (Honda and Toyota) are overrated and overpriced in my opinion. Both the Ford Focus and the Neon are very nice cars for a low price.
Cheap and Fun
In most buys, I would say you get what you pay for. But, this car offers great features at a relatively low price. However, the low cost is evidenced by a few minor things such as manual rear windows. But, these are definitely made up for by the look and performance of the vehicle. First thing I did was put Bosh Platinum 4 spark plugs which increased my gas mileage and performance. I get anywhere between 32-35 mpg with this car. My only parts repair has been the starter so far and I have owned the vehicle since it only had 28,000 mi on it. Due to no under carriage, I destroyed my motor from high water. Totally my fault, but I (quite easily) put a new engine in and it runs great
Hurry, the Korean replacement is coming!
Bang for the buck? How about blinding nuclear flash for 25 cents? A bulletproof twincam I-4, superstrong transaxle (built in NY, originally designed for turbodiesel Graz-built minivans!) wrist-size halfshafts, beefy brakes, "lasts forever" Quaife diff, real Viper seats, for $20K. Runs 13.8 dead stock, 12s with easy bolt- ons. Remember, these will be built for the rest of '04, a few months of '05, then the party's over. The next geneartion will be a Mitsu/Hyundai conglomeration. Ugh. The last real Mopar from Belvidere, IL. He who snoozes, loses.
great car!!
great car very quick! fun to drive. the 4 door is good cuz it lowers insurance
I paid how much!
As a previous owner of an All Wheel Drive I was skeptical that this car could deliver the grin that I got from my previous car. Boy was I wrong! It only took me once to roll onto the throttle and hear the front tires howl did I realize that this was serious. The reports I find are mostly on the '03 SRT-4 and they all say how wonderful the car is. Granted she's no Evo, but it's a close second and with the right goodies added from Mopar it may rival cars in a class above. Overall, supercar for little cash. Maybe the American car companies can build with the best the world has to offer.
Neon interior
I enjoy this car very much, it's got power when I need it, runs fairly quite ging down the highway. However, the interior can leave you with desire though. The side to side room(for us long legged people), is not quite enough, and the gas and brake pedal could use a little more seperation. But after 4 months, thats really all I can complain about.
Modern day muscle car
This is by far the most fun car I have ever driven. The power is unbelievable and the suspension is very tight while only being a little harsh. The brakes bring you back down to legal speeds in a hurry, which will be necessary if this car is driven like it shound be. The steering is quick but very heavy and a bit on the numb side. Being 6'6" I could use a little more headroom and legroom. It's not quite as roomy as my previous car, a Ford Focus ZX3. The heavily bolstered front seats are actually really comfortable while making sure you don't slide around when taking that "suggested" 30 mph off ramp at 70 mph. Best car buy ever.
Love this car!
This is a hot looking car for not being an import. It handles well and gets great gas milage.
King of Bang for the Buck
What a great little car! Stuff a 2.4L Turbo, heavy duty trans and limited slip diff underhood, then add a good suspension, different styling, and viola - the perfect FWD performance deal. I've been getting about 27 mpg after the engine break-in. No problems to date. Exhaust is a bit loud, but I kind of like it. It doesn't drone on the expressway. Handling is darn good for a FWD car, and brakes are terrific. It has the Kicker/Livin Loud stereo, and sounds very good! I would prefer to be able to turn the sub up a bit. Can't go wrong for the money!
Mistress for an elderly man
That's it! This is gonna be buried with me.. No squeaks or rattles Twenty g's, performance options abound, as much road presence as an Enzo, faster than a speeding bullet, corners as if on rails, mileage of a Fit{ told the wife that was the only reason I bought it}. 65,000 miles and no trouble at all. Stage three is impossibly, perfectly tuned. Suspension options add more grip than is needed. Of all the cars I've owned in my short 72 years on this ball of mud, this car is the is the snottiest thing in my price range ever.
Bias
The best car money can buy. Car handles like dream. Cheap thrill. Laughing all the way to the bank (use the difference toward saving at 4.3%). I never believe in the hype of Japasnse cars.
Most Excellent
I was born into a Ford Family! I never thought I would ever drive a Dodge, Let alone buy one! I Love this car! When the salesman said take a look at the neons, I looked at my husband like he was all messed up! But I drove the 5 speed and it is fast! It is all I thought Dodge couldn't be, then some! It has a 4 cylinder hemmy,I can't say enough good stuff about the car!
2003 Neon SXT
Inexpensive, sporty little sedan with ample trunk space.
My Neon SXT
I love my Neon and it's not just for teenagers......I'm 37 and I love driving my car and so do my teenagers. It's for grown ups too.
