RT+ is a vehicle with TONS of issues

I own a 2024 Dodge Hornet RT+. It's been at th dealership twice for electrical issues. First time was a total power failure that even drained the 12v battery even though the manufacturer says it should not do that. Second time was all the lights on the dash lit warning "service engine", service power steering, front collision inoperable, lane sense inoperable, heated seats and steering wheel inoperable, automatic power folding mirrors inoperable. My vehicle has just over 4K miles on it and I've only owned it 7 months. I'm looking into lemon laws in my state at this point. Dodge promises the works with this car, but that is not what you get. You'll end up with tow bills and mansplaining at the dealership.

The car is a lemon. It’s nothing but a rebadged Italian “throw away” car. We picked one up for our teen daughter, as the dealer was more than happy to “cut a great deal” to get it off the lot. The test drive was uninspiring, basically proving the GT is a bland, half sized, “soccer mom” vehicle……seemingly made perfect for a teen age girl. We thought she’d be cruising around and listening to her Taylor Swift in this Barbie mini van wanna be, instead…. It lives at the dealership. Constant electrical issues. Dashboard goes out completely one day, intermittent warning lights another. It’s been months of stumbles, issues, chimes, and problem after problem. More time riding the dealer floor than on the road. It’s a prime example of why you barely see any out there and why the new dealer we use advises they can’t give them away. If you’re looking for a bland and boring daily drive that will get you from A to B, this vehicle only looks the part…..it will not reliably get you anywhere. It will frustrate you but that’s about it. I’m waiting on it to get “repaired” once again and then going to trade it in on something reliable that I can put my kid in. This thing is not trustworthy. I would’ve thought it was just a lemon and a rare occurrence but I was told by the new dealer we’re using that this is why they don’t want to sell them at all. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Great Sporty Hybrid SUV

When i bought the Hornet, I thought it would be an great extra car for myself and my son. It's exceeded all expectations in drivability and is just plain fun to ride in. The technology in it is top notch. Battery charge has good mileage capacity. You can slowly charge the battery when driving also if it is out of juice. One area Dodge needs to improve, a larger gas tank capacity. If you are on a road trip regionally, it's clear as day you will need to fill it up sooner than you expect. It's so far reliable and fun 5000 miles in.

Pros- peppy, cons-interior has issues

I’m 5’1” but hit my head getting in over bucket seat edges, same for 58” daughter. If you put a second cup in holder console lid has to remain open. A/C slow to cool in heat of day. Controls conveniently located on nav screen, very confusing to use. Rear hatch made for tall folks- the gripping areas for closing have no grip- just for looks I suppose. The Hornet has good pick up, smooth ride after bumping your head, getting stuck on seat edge and sweating awaiting cool air - otherwise not bad, not for me.

I purchased the GT with the Cold Weather and GT Blacktop + Track Pack Bundle (comes with the 20 inch black rims and red calipers to name a couple)... It is amazing. My best friend bought one three months ago, so I had a 3 month test drive...and fell in love. It has all the options I wanted... Looking forward to years of fun in the car.
