Caliber Heat 2.0 CVT
Mine's a CVT, but "5-speed manual" was all that was listed. Handles great, fantastic brakes, but no power. Comfortable & rides nice, but lots of wind noise. Dealer's had to reattach shielding inside both front wheel wells 3 times so far & it's loose again right now. My main complaint is the mileage. Again, mine has the CVT transmission & the 2.0 motor. I drive 4 blocks from my home to the the 4-lane interstate every morning. I then drive 22 miles on the interstate with the cruise control engage & exit. I then 1 mile to the front door of my employer. I do this twice a day 5 to 6 days a week. I believe all of this would be considered "highway" miles. My Dodge Caliber Heat is averaging 21 MPG!
Very average car
I recently purchased a relatively new 2011 Dodge Caliber Mainstreet for $12,900 it had only 600 miles. I am relatively happy with ownig this car. However, I found that this car to be very slow, the 4cyl, 158 hp engine with the CVT transmisson is very weak. The engine lacks power for changing lanes and going up hills it makes long distance driving very difficult. Extremely poor gas mileage about 20- 24 mpg. Cheap interior and uncomfortable seats. Positive things are exterior styling and interior room. I would never buy this car at retail at $21,000. Howeve, if you can find one at a discounted price I would buy it. They are good commuter cars for providing basic transportation

Incredibly Surprising
My parents got this as their loaner car while they were having their PT Cruiser worked on. They weren't going to drive it so I did. I was incredibly surprised with this car. It rides very smooth even on the freeway. It picks up speed quick, but when you floor it nothing happens. I took to 110 MPH no problem and it didn't feel like it was gonna fall apart. It handles and drives well. When you go around a corner quickly there is barely any body roll. I thought something was wrong with the transmission but then I realized it had a CVT. The base stereo sounds amazing and the standard features are unbelievable. The interior needs some work. There is cheap battleship grey plastic everywhere!
How not to sell a car
Ownership experience was limited to 1 hour. Although ordered correctly, Dodge failed to manufacture the car correctly by leaving out 1 of 3 options....where was the quality control?? Took car for initial drive and it overheated in less than 5 miles. After listening to salesman and manager attempt ever increasing levels of BS, we took our deposit and left.
Love this Wagon!
It's size and comfort are perfect for what I was looking for. Bigger than a car, yet smaller than an SUV. I'm I'm love!!!

Great Car
Have 1000 miles on my new Caliber. I average 30 mpg combined. It is very quiet and very comfortable. Still getting used to day running lights.
DO NOT GET
i owned the vehicle for three years. In those three years i had to replace temperature sensors, struts because it sounded as if they had rocks inside, oil dipstick because it cracked with the heat. The transmission oil was 450, because no one other then the dealership wanted to touch it. Acceleration was soo poor, driving was soooo boring. I tried maintaining a positive attitude about the car, but now that I'm in a honda, its crazy how stupid i was to get this car. I will never get a dodge or american car based on this car. Gas consumption was horrible for being a 2.0, this car sucked.

horrible
car constantly overheats, smells like gas when using AC, and steering wheel randomly stops running. sometimes on the highway my car can barely run. DSL trucks would come from far behind and then pass me, extremely embarrassing. such a joke of a car.
Worst new car I ever purchased
After two weeks of riding in my new Caliber, I began to experience consistent problem with tires and clanging noises. After several trips to dealer, problem remedied, only to reoccur few months later. Did I purchase the only defective 2010 on the lot?
Buyer Beware
All Dodge Calibers-all years have this problem. Dodge is aware but refused to fix it. Should be recalled, but they won't do that either. Dealerships get them, knowing the problem and pawn off on the next person. Do yourself a favor and do not buy this car, no matter what year. They leak!! Do not let them tell you otherwise. You'll be dealing with water on your floors, seat, inside of roof, rearview mirror, etc. These are all Dodge Calibers.
