Navigation system updates are a pain.

It is impossible to update the navigation system on this vehicle. I can buy an update for a 2012 and a 2014, but GM hasn't seen fit to update the 2013. I am old enough to have owned a Chevy Vega and I vowed never to own a GM auto again but my wife wanted an electric car. GM finally got around to updating the navigation system in 2017 replacing the original 2011 map information. On the bright side, the vehicle has been nearly maintenance free, other than required maintenance. The only problem was that the back up camera when out just before the 36 month warranty expired. I have noticed some deteration in the battery. It used to charge up to 48-49 miles in mild weather. Now it rarely gets above 40.

This could be a reasonable car if you live in southern California and don't drive more than 20 miles a day. If that is not you, don't even think about buying this POS. It does not drive in the snow. When it's cold and the heater turns on it has to run a second generator motor which sounds like someone started a lawn mower in your trunk. I drive a lot, more than 300 miles a day, and while it has a charge the power and handling isn't bad, but since I drive on the highway a lot the charge doesnt last very long. once it switches to gas only its performance is horrible.. if you leave it for a few days and the bluetooth is on it'll drain your starting battery and you'll need to call service

This is a commuter vehicle, not a sports car, not a truck, not a travel vehicle... For what this car is designed for, the execution is near perfect. I drive less than 20 miles a day, don't live in SoCal and it does get pretty cold here in the winter. The technology is ahead of the competition. The vehicles instant torque is pretty fun off the line, it is quite, it has all sort of electronic gizmos, a appealing exterior and interior design. The vehicle is smaller, but is not a lightweight, meaning the car is pretty heavy, but if you have to pack batteries, an electic motor and an engine, this adds up. Driving in the snow could be cured with winter/snow tires

I've had my 2013 Volt for about six weeks and 2,200 miles. Typically by this time after a new car purchase, I've found pros and cons associated with my purchase. I can't find any cons to speak of with this one (that's a first). It's everything I had hoped it would be, but more. I've taken a couple of day trips utilizing the gas mode, and still have managed to keep my total mpg around 160. Almost every day someone asks me about my Volt; it draws alot of attention. I'm a rolling commercial for this vehicle. Very happy with my purchase.

I love cars and have a terrible new car addiction. Over the years I have had well over 20 cars in all different price ranges. I bought the Volt new in 2013 and still own it today, it has kept my interest longer than any other car I have had. I was looking for a 4 door hatchback/wagon that would be economical and I wanted the tax credit. After the tax credit, GM rebate and dealer discount I paid about $26,500 for one with leather, Bose and a somewhat worthless navigation system. The Navigation and poor user interface would be my biggest gripe about the car. I like the style, it drives really nice, rides good and is quiet. I love plugging in at home and not stopping for gas. Not sure I could go back to a gas only car. I bought the home charger and think that improves the experience 100%. Messing with the cord and slow charging is a PITA, get the fast charger. I had a few repairs, it had to be towed when it was newer because a battery control module was bad. All repairs were under warranty and haven't had any issues the last 2-3 years.
