I love my 2010 Z71!!!!

I bought my 2010 Crew Cab Z71 with 15k miles on it on March 3, 2011. I have not had any problems with it other than the exterior temperature gauge takes a while to register what the teperature it outside. Also, it is pretty difficult to park, even with the back up camera and parking sensors. I get about 15-17 MPG in town and 19-20 hwy.

I bought my truck 3 years ago with 64k on it and it had a slight tap every now and the, quiet but audible. It came in spurts of 2 or 3 (tap tap tap) then it would go away for awhile. I brought it to a gm dealers attention and they told me it was injector noise. I always maintenanced the vehicle before the change oil light came on (around 9k). I changed the oil every 5k. At 94k i have to tear the engine to the block to replace the bs displacement on demand lifters, a problem that gm has had since they put this crap in their vehicles. Then the alternator went out at about 100k. Every 2k a sparkplug would crack the porcelin. It consumes oil, another thing gm knows about but refuses to do anything about. The truck may look pretty and be very comfortable to drive but its a unreliable POS i am a die hard chevy fan but this truck has ruined my faith in any new vehicle produced by gm, or any vehicle with DOD.

V6 Truck, no way.

V6 and 4 speed auto are a very good match up and smooth performance. Towing up 6500 pounds is smooth and straight. This work truck platform is matched very well with the V6 and is a quick and responsive drive on the expressway. Granted it is not as quick as a V8, it does cruise easily at 75 to 80 on the E-way with no issues. Cruise control is an appreciated option on those 400 mile trips from Detroit to Illinois. This is an excellent basic truck, just what I prefer. Chrome package adds to the clean style and lines.

MY 2010 SILVERADO HAS 67,000 MILES now. No problems at this time. REPLACED TIRES WITH COOPER AT3 WORKS WELL. USE FULL SYNTHETIC OIL FOR BETTER USE. Auto transfer case works well for 4x4 use. Drag to get in neutral. BUT THE AUTO SELECT DIAL FOR 4X4 IS EASY TO USE. THE MANUAL BUTTONS ON SIX SPEED TRANSMISSION WORK WELL TOO. HOWEVER THE MANUAL BUTTON HOLDS A LOW GEAR IF SELECTED WHEN YOU ENTER BACK ON HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEED IN LOW GEAR ASSUMING AUTOMATIC STILL. THOUGH ON HILLS ,THE MANUAL BUTTON WORKS TERRIFIC WITH THE GEARS USE. FANTASTIC STEREO AND SPEAKERS. WIDE TURN, BUT OKAY. MINE IS REASONABLE ON GAS. IT IS OK FOR LOAD TOO. Really a very reliable comfortable truck.

I have a 2010 Silverado 1500 WT. Bought it with the 4.3 V6, black with black interior, power windows/locks/mirrors/cruise and keyless entry. It's a regular cab tho with not a lot of space behind the seat. It starts up and runs every morning. I've had it since 9miles and now I'm up to 9,000. No problems. Check the oil every 3k. It's quiet on the highway, pulling less than 2,000 rpms at 70 mph. It gets about 16 in town. That could be better but the truck does weigh over 2 tons. Great visibility at night. I wanted a reliable truck that could take me past 200k miles and I'm on my way. I wanted the 4.3 V6. I had that motor before in another vehicle and i like it. Great Truck.

I got lucky a month ago and found a 10,000 mile used 2010 black Silverado LTZ with every option at less than market price. My 1998 4Runner was still running good, but not enough guts to pull my boat. This is the truck i've always wanted and couldn't be more happy with all of the features. The 4Runner consistently (without boat) got 18 mpg, now I get 15-18 for the tank. The ride is awesome, the heated seats are the envy of my wife, and the look is the best on the market in my opinion. Yes, I'd do it again. Have not pulled the boat yet, but have no doubt it will do just fine. I plan on keeping this one around for a while. I've owned Fords before, but probably not again after this one.

Purchased our 2010 Silverado from Michael Hohl in Carson City, NV because I wanted a 4x4. Found this truck, and it's been comfortable and reliable with 18000+ miles on it, it is my vehicle of choice for road trips due to reliability, comfort, and gadgets such as USB port and ONSTAR. Had a little Colorado before that, which was a sweet little truck as well. Sorry I had to trade it in.

Purchased a new 2010 Silverado and after 200 miles the interior noise became unbearable on the highway. Sounds like the rear passenger door of the crew cab is not closed. The door is closed, but the cab vents behind the rear seats are allowing for loud road noise. Wind noise can be heard though the weather strilling around the doors at hiway speed. Went back to the GM dealership to complain, and even though they admited that my vehicle is louder than most vehicles, I was told that "they all sound like that". I find this an unacceptable answer. The dealership offered to Duct Tape over the cab vents, but this would make closing the doors difficult.

2010 Silverado lt crew cab short box z71 5.3l I bought the truck with 64k on it, I got about 30k with minor problems ( power steering line o ring leaking, radio went out, had to clean the throttle body) after that the truck was no longer my pride and joy. I am a diesel mechanic so I maintained the truck routinely at 5k instead of the rediculous 10k that the oil life light would come on. The truck used oil from day one about a quart in-between oil changes. I had a lifter go out which resulted in camshaft damage. After a long weekend of replacing the camshaft and lifters I decided to turn off the afm system which I thought would prevent this from happening again. After that I had random spark plugs cracking the porcelain every so often started at 97k. This proceded for the rest of my time owning the vehicle I never ended up finding the problem. I ended up traded the truck in for a family car for my wife after starting to hear the lifters tap again at 156k. At this point I was just done with the truck. The good things I can say about it was it was a very good looking truck, rode very smooth and quiet in the cab. Very comfortable although I wish it would have had a telescoping steering wheel ( I'm 6' with long legs and short arms) Plenty of power even with 308 gears and 33s although the diablo sport tuner did wake the truck up. towing was good, the most capable bad road condition vehicle I have ever owned. stock sound system was good. All and all I would not recommend this truck to anyone. I have owned a 95 &94 Silverados with good luck but not the nnbs. My work has a 2009 with 310k on it with original motor and drivetrain with the lifters replaced once. My boss has a 2012 GMC with the same motor that's on its second motor at almost 300k so it's a common problem but some people get luckier than others. Sorry this is so long but hey hopefully if you finished reading this I saved you some frustration and money cheers.

My truck says the estimated mileage is 15 city / 21 hwy I drive normal and my mpg highway is 16 mpg and city 12 this has been my worst truck in fuel consumption, you can even see a dirty black tailpipe, dealer says, if it does not show codes it is fine it drives great and I like it except the mpg and no dic switch for a Lt I guess as not to scare us for the estimated mileage it was going to show honestly, if I had known of this poor mpg I would still be buying ford trucks, they always gave about 19 to 23 mpg my wife love it and at the same time hate it because it didn't came with running boards like all my other Fords other than that it is a great truck with poor mpg

I have a 2010 with 88,000 miles. Rear wheel oil seal started leaking at 60,000, Both front wheel bearing out now. $ 1100.00 repair. Brake light switch has gone out twice. Gas mileage poor highway and city 20/13. Chevy has gone backwards on this model. The transmission shifts continuously at the slightest hill. Puling a 12' boat (1000 lb) and the highway mileage goes to under 15. My 2005 Silverado went 250,000 miles with NO repairs , other than brakes , oil, and filters, and got 21/17 MPG. Now (4/2017) the transmission has started shuddering when it changes gears. ( An indication of a transmission repair) . Troubles just keep piling up!!

Wasn't looking for a pickup, but with the incentives ($10k off sticker) and tax credits it was a no brainer. This is one fine machine, drives like a dream. First tank and a half, 23.5 mpg at 60-65 mph. This truck looks amazing with black granite metallic paint, chrome wheels and chrome running boards. Got all of the toys avaialble except for the dvd player in back, this thing coddles you. Very pleased that my buy American initiative has had such a good result. Way to go Detroit.

This was my first brand new truck I bought. I previously owned a 1995 Chevy Cheyenne truck and loved it. I wished I never got rid of her. I only had my 2010 Silverado for 4 months before I traded in. Within 4000km's the transmission had to be replaced do to a loud whining noise. It took me months of battling with GM to get the transmission replaced. At one point the truck was at the dealer once a week. The driveline clunks loudly. The speakers vibrated and rattled. The back window of the truck squeaked and creaked. Passenger side door had something lose inside causing it to rattle as well. Within the first 1000km's the engine developed a ticking noise when warmed up. Terrible truck!

I have driven chevy/gmc cars and trucks for 30 years and have obviously been pleased with their products because I have purchased many new products from them. This 2010 truck is an extended cab, LTZ,5.3 v8,3.08 rear. EPA estimates 21 highway and 15 city. Also,it has a six speed transmission. I drive 25,000 to 30,000 miles annually and keep accurate records of my gas mileage. This truck gets 16.3 miles per gallon with 85% highway miles and 15% city miles basically going the speed limit. I still have a 2003 Chevy extended cab,4 speed trans,5.3 liter engine, 246,000 miles on the truck. I get 18 mpg on this truck driving the same way as I drive the 2010.

My 2010 Silverado suffers from very poor build quality. The bumper does not fit, and the manager of the dealership told me that was a common problem. They adjusted it and made it better, but he said that even ordering a new bumper would not fix the problem because of the poor design, and even poorer execution. There are a couple of dents that are from the inside out that could only have happened when the truck was built. The transmission is slow to downshift at lower speeds, an attempt to get better mileage by staying in a higher gear? I have 2400 miles on this truck and am in the process of trading for a Tundra. Obama should have done us all a favor and let GM go out of business.

Great handling, comfortable seating, good fit-and-finish. Fuel economy is average, but engine/transmission performance is excellent, ride comfort is very good (even with no load). Positioning of controls is perfect. Got this vehicle to replace my 2005 Lacrosse CXL (used for clients - an excellent car) and my Ford F-150 work truck. Excellent compromise between the two vehicles.

This is the best truck! I've had mine for just over a year and the time has flown. I towed with it 2 months after I bought it and it was a dream. I was worried that I bought a truck that couldn't tow but it did perfectly. Didn't struggle at all. Used it to move my family max trailer weight was 9000 and it didn't skip a beat. I have friends that own Toyota Tundra's and Nissan Titans and comment on the comfort of my truck every time they ride in it. I test drove and compared all the different trucks that are in the same class as this one and none of them could come close to what you get for a very reasonable price.

After 3 years and 22,000 miles, no real complaints. Dealer replaced Chevy bowtie logo on tailgate twice under warranty due to cosmetic flaking, and recently re-programmed the setting on the defroster to eliminate an interior cabin fogging issue, but all else is mechanically perfect. Gas mileage on the 4.6L V-6 is not as good as I was hoping (only ~19mpg highway empty bed with no A/C running and 55mph speeds, & 14mpg city). Interior treatment is an expanse of bland gray plastic and the dash seems poorly designed in terms of storage, with 3 cubbies too small to be of any real use. However, these are relatively small issues. I like the truck overall very much and will keep it for yrs.

This truck is intelligent. It has the 5.3 trailering pkg LT1. it gets better gas mileage than my 96 4.3 V6, and has 115 more horsepower. It also has a back seat ext cab. It rides better than my 97 Cadillac Eldorado. We least traded the 96 truck in, and now plan to sell the Caddy, because the truck, made both the old truck, and Eldorado obsolete. I test a 07 crew cab in 2007 with four speed. What we like is the combination of features on the powertrain, six speed, Variable valve timing, active fuel management, and regular gas, and flex fuel option. My wife loved Mercedes, but she could hardly believe the technology in this truck. After the test drive she was ready to buy!

There maybe a problem with the 5.3L engine in the 2010 Silverado LTZ. While driving, heard a clicking noise that affected engine performance. I could not find any visible problem upon inspecting the engine. Had Silverado towed to dealership for service. The service mechanics inspected the engine and after removing the cylinder head and inspecting the lifters and value train, they found cylinder 1 lifters grooved and the camshaft damaged. I had the option of cam and lifter job or replace the engine. I asked the dealer service representative why this damaged occurred as I had changed the oil regularly and the service representative had no answer why this problem occurred. I was expecting to keep this truck but now much consider my options. I do not plan on buying another Silverado. Update 6/11/21 - Decided on new engine which came with a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty as opposed to a 90 day warranty for rebuilt engine. Mileage now 110,108.

The fuel management system in this vehicle is terrible. My truck had 79k miles on it when I had to put a new engine in it. Took it to the dealership and had it done. As soon as my truck left the shop another 2010 truck exactly like mine came in the shop for a new engine with 115k miles. Same problems, same solution. Chevy wont do anything about the problem and left its customers to pay for it. This was my first and last Chevy I will ever own.

I have never written a review before but thought this is well deserved. On the way home from work I hit a full grown horse head on at 65mph. Had speed control on (it was night and it was a black horse that ran onto the road) and the hood bent up deflecting the horse above the truck instead of into the cab (idk if that’s by design but thank god) the airbag deployed as it should, I also spun 180 degrees and did not flip or anything. Walked away with a small scratch on my thumb. Just wanted to thank the engineers at Chevy for the safety measures that have in place for the truck and I will never buy any other brand as I feel very safe in these trucks.

You owe it to yourself and your country to test drive this truck. It drives better than many cars with the obvious utility of a 1/2 ton full sized pickup. Technology which is second to none. 5.3 liter is powerful and fuel efficient if you can keep your foot out of it but after 20 years with 4 cylinder Toyota's good luck with that. 6 speed auto with manual controls. Onstar works great. Bottom line is if you want a vehicle that feels like a luxury car but can tow and haul all day long without tiring, you need to buy this truck. Oh yeah, you'll get alot of compliments on its understated good looks.

I bought my 2010 Silverado 4 years ago with 97k miles on it. At 120k replaced radiator , at 135k-broken motor mounts 140k - major brake issues( leaking fluid). At 160k miles- 1800.00 in suspension issues ( including bad ball joints)At 170k - transmission shot also and oil leak near sensor. Would also like to add that the paint was peeling off of the truck and dash board was cracking . When the repairs costed more than the truck was worth I traded it in. I did all required maintenance and changed oil every 5k miles. All in all a disappointment- will not buy a GM product again.

Just purchased my new Silverado and the 1st time on the highway it sounded like the rear passenger door was partially open. The door was closed, but lots of road noise can be heard inside the cab. Took the vehicle back to the dealership and was told "all trucks sound like that" and there is nothing GM can do about it. Dealer did agree that my truck had the loudest interior noise he had ever heard. The 1st time I drove down a country road a squeak developed in the dash and the rear bumper license plate light fell out of its holder. This vehicle has 3000 miles (99% highway miles) and is only 2 months old. If GM had a 60 day return policy, I would take it back tomorrow & pay for the mileage used.

Nice truck, looks like a luxury car inside & rides like one too. Smooth shifting transmission & powerful 5.3 L V8. The only prob I have is at night the headlights will dim for a split sec then come back up(I'm taking it in to have them check this) & the volt gauge will drop when sitting at a stop light with the A/C on, annoying but normal according to the owners manual. The truck has an Electric Power Management system that can reduce the power demands of some accessories when needed. The A/C kicks on & the interior lights dim! My F250 never did these things to me, but it never gave me the mileage this Chevy does. A really nice, smooth, & powerful truck (if you don't mind a dipping volt gauge)

I love the truck except for one thing..it has a clunking noise in the transmission/ rear end. I took it to the dealership and all they did was lubricate the rear end. The noise is still there! This is very frustrating so I can not recommend this vehicle. If I could get a refund--I would. The transmission mechanic said that it was something I would have to live with!

I havr had this truxk for years and have had nothinf but trouble. Wiring issues, mechanical issues, ac issues, the list goes on. Most of which were not covered in the manufacturers warranty, and now I know the reasons. Chevy knew there would be electronic issues when releases. I will be going back to Ford asap.

The 1500 is made to drive down the highway empty not use for anything. The 6 speed auto trans downshifts on every little hill. My gas mileage is poor. Three tanks of gas and I have gotten 14.8, 15.1 and 15.8. No wonder they took out the standard gas mileage calculator. GM puts in an odd size spare tire. You can't add accessories to the 1500 like extra battery, plow, etc. It has soft paint that easily scratches. It has a small turn knob to put it in 4WD. Poor color choices. Lots of XM dead spots. Even my Z-71 package has very little ground clearance because of the plastic scoop below the front bumper.

Traded in my 03 Honda Pilot. Great vehicle but wanted more capability for hunting, fishing, outdoor stuff. Considered F150. Test drove my LT Z71 and was hooked. Comfortable ride on road and great so far doing some light off-road (I plan to challenge it more later). Powerful engine with great low end torque and high end horsepower. At 80 mph only 2,000 RPM. Rated for 21 MPG on highway which is actually higher than my Pilot. So far I am averaging 17 MPG in mixed driving. I anticipate this will improve some with time.

I just purchase this truck with 56,950 miles on it, had it two weeks and the truck is so disappointing (I can't curse on here so I don't care to go into details...but if there is a such thing as a class action suit for this truck I'm jumping on it). All the negative reviews well deserved. I wanted my first pick up truck to be American made but after this experience and diving my company ford work truck, i know my next truck will a Toyota Tundra. So sad America got swept it the auto industy. Now I cringe watching these chevy comercials every 10 minutes pushing these wack trucks. Oh well you learn. #regrets

I got the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado LS Extended Cab 4 x 4. For $26,500 I was happy with the price. I was considering the Ford 150 and Tundra. But, it seemed Chevy was the most aggressive with a bargaining price. All the truck reviews seemed to favor the Silverado in some form so I figured what the heck, support the American economy. I didn't feel like paying $4 - 5K more for the LT model so I'm willing to live with the slightly lower 13 to 18 mpg. Looks like I'm getting around 425 miles on a 26 gallon fuel-up.

Overall, I'm mostly satisfied with my new Silverado. It's my third one. My 2010 had one item I see as a design flaw, the buttons on the AC/Heater are very small and you have to really look at what you are doing to operate it while driving.

I bought this truck mainly to haul people in comfort, and occasionally loads of gravel, bark, or building material. The comfort is outstanding. The front seats are luxurious. Rear seat room is adequate for large adults. The build feels solid. Fuel economy appears to be near EPA estimates based on the Driver Information Center (DIC) I got 20 MPG coming home from the dealer-about 60 miles. I can't tell when the truck shifts between 4 and 8 cylinders unless I am watching on the DIC. There are many personalized settings to be made on the DIC. The dual zone climate control works great. Very happy!

This truck meets a happy medium. We needed a truck to tow our camper but I still wanted to travel in comfort. This is that and more. I love the USB port for my Ipod. We got leather seats since we are using it mainly to camp, go to races and baseball games. I love the dual control A/C. My husband always freezes me. This solves that problem. I love the DIC. I love watching the fuel management kick in to V4. I know I'm saving money. We have about 500 miles on it so far. The fuel mileage started out low but since it has started to get broken in, I got 20.5 on my way to work. That is right on target with what it states it will get. Very comfortable ride/drive. Had to get step boards to climb in.

Just purchased a 2010 Silverado, crew cab, Texas Edition. This is a great looking truck, inside and out. Very happy with the deal I got and the truck is comfortable and rides great. Traded a Toyota Camry for this truck. Loved my Camry but need a truck. I hope this Chevrolet is up to par with Toyota in build quality and reliability.

Ok looked around at the 1500 Silverado all had 5.3 liters which are great. Then I looked online at a dealership a few miles away from my house and they had a 2010 1500 Silverado with a 6.2 liter engine at I think 403 hp rear view camera, and remote start, manual shift for towing up step grades, trailer brake control system, power back window, back up sensors and much more. I got this truck for the price of the regular 1500 lt price. Its made like an ltz but with a killer deal I love it baby.

Have to admit I wasn't looking for a truck when I got to the lot, i was looking for an SUV. But once i saw the Silverado with the upgraded chrome wheels and appearance package I had to take a look. Once I drove it I was sold. I constantly get compliments on my truck and it consistently surprises me on how refined and smooth it is on the road. I have had ZERO quality issues and get over 19 mpg on the highway with my heavy foot. Dealer treats me like they want my business too. Get the upgraded 5.3 engine and the 6 speed transmission. It makes a HUGE difference.

I bought a Silverado LT ext cab, 5.3 L v8, 6 sp auto. interior plus, ext plus, Texas edition package. Interior color is a ivory off white kinda of color. With the dash being black it gives it a two tone effect that I like. The 5.3l engine with the tow package allows me to tow any thing i would want. Once I am on the highway and cruising the engine mgt takes over and it gets any where from 24-30 mpg. There is no engine lurch or noise when this happens, Only way you know is via the info display. Even at hwy speeds the interior is fairly quite. I look forward to my first long trip. Chevy has a great truck here. With 5k in down payment assitance, GM financing beat my Cu rate.

Real Review: Buying new in 2011 and Now in 2021

I leased a 2011 1500 Ex-Cab 4wd 4.8l 4 WD new in 2011. In 2021 I purchased a 2010 1500 Crew-Cab 4wd 4.8l 4wd. Things I noticed within the first 30k miles: towing capacity is only 5000lbs. Towing a mid size camper is almost at maximum. Did ok towing a small landscape trailer, but certainly not like you were not towing anything at all. Performance is really poor due to the acceleration response delay the pedal communicates to the computer. Power is fair at best partially caused by the aforementioned issue, but also due to the Flex Fuel design. This design actually stops engine cylinders from firing. The design is intended to conserve fuel, but the drag it places on the motor for essentially turning unfired cylinders creates less power and I would logically suspect more fuel consumption. They sell many aftermarket items to repair these issues, but you would be tampering with the factory computers sequential powering system. After returning the vehicle after lease I purchases a 2010 with 82,000 miles. Both vehicles performed exactly alike. But, since owning the 2010, the small nuisance problems began. The driver's seat Cushion flattened out so bad that the material was no longer tight and I had add foam or replace the bottom of the seat. I choose the foam option due to price difference but also material match. Now the seat raises me back up, but the seat is very firm. The previous owner and myself weigh about 200 lbs. Heater/AC system began to malfunction. AC would blink: Stuck on defrost: Loss of control of temperature adjustment. Emission system began to show various engine codes that required; Evap purge valve to be replaced; gas cap replacement; fuel filler tube replacement. While none of these item were extremely expensive the constant nuisances were frustrating. The reason for 2 stars is because up until this mileage the power train has been fairly reliable. Engine seems to still have the same amount of power which is a major plus due to it's poor performance when new. The transmission still shifts smoothly. The front end linkage is still fairly tight and provides a comfortable ride. But after 2005 the reliability of all vehicles dramatically improved. To sum the review up; great truck for a person needing a small SUV and pickup bed. But would not recommend as for a person needing something of full size truck performance.
