Love it
This is my 2nd Caprice. The 1st was a '91. It has 152,000 miles and rides pefect. Drinks too much gas. I get about a little over 200 miles on a full tank and I use premium gas. But it only drinks like that in the city. Strong motor. Not fast at all, but strong. Will burn rubber. Very heavy car. Fun to drive. I think it is one of the best cars ever made, except for the gas mileage. 91-93 were the best years from my experience.
What was GM Thinking, finally a RWD car that works.
Dad bought our "91, new, traded in an excellent 82 Caprice that was great also. The vehicle NEVER gave any problems whatsoever Price was some $18k or so, still they command about $5,000 for a nice one on Autotrader, so Edmunds, get your pricing correct..

Caprice Classic Love it!
Purcased this car on an estate auction with 27,000 miles in 2001. Best car I have ever owned! Luxury, reliability, great to drive, and best of all, very economical.
Best New and used car I've owned
I bought my first Caprice new in October of 1991. When I can across another one in 2000 with only 40k miles, I had to pick it up also. They are a very comfortable car with enough of an engine to move it along nicely. On long highway trips it also gets decent gas mileage (25MPG on one and 27MPG on the other). If they still made these I would buy a new one.
best used car ever
After I bought this car all I had to do to it was changed the oil. Interior spotless and the engine was clean. At first I thought I would never find a clean chevy that would run good in January without spending some money on repairs. But this car started perfectly when temp was below zero. Only a chevy would handle like this. Praise God for being so good to the chevy name.
Like a rock
I owned a caprice classic had it for 10 years before I put some 20” rims and tires on it then painted it pacific blue with a nice sound system in it made people turn their heads when they see a old school car looking better than the new ones

good car
Bought vehicle new in 1992. Currently 120000 miles. Reliable. replaced radiator, alternator only. wear and tear - 2 batteries, two sets of tires, two brake jobs. No engine or transmission repairs. original exhaust system still on car. Still gets 25 mpg highway, 18 mpg city. I will own this car for several more years.
Ex-Cop Car
I bought the car with 170000km on the engine. It has proven to still be a strong engine. I have buried the needle on the speedo and it was still pulling hard. The suspension is unbelievable. I have approached corners with slow to 60km signs and maintained a speed of 120km without any tire squeal nor slippage. The $1300 Fulda tires help out too. The dual bench seats are excellent for comfort. Lots of elbow room. This car is one of the most well balanced cars I have ever seen. I would buy this car over any Vette. Want power, open the hood and see all the room you have for a big block.you want speed, you have it.this car is very steamlined for the highway.want to get noticed, blow the comp away.
great
great car. rarely a problem. strong car. strong frame. good in all weather conditions. comfotable.
One Of My Favorite Cars!
Bought my Caprice wagon with 50k miles and after five years of ownership have had only a few minor problems. It's a very reliable car. Good power even from the base 5.0 V8 engine. Ride quality from this large rear drive car is pillow soft! I was surprised with the car's handling in winter snowstorms. Despite the rear drive setup, I never ended up stuck at the side of the road! The car's large size and rounded shape always gets attention from onlookers. Kids love the rear facing third seat! Cargo room with the second and third row seats folded is akin to an enclosed pickup truck! Long trips are very comfortable. A great car! Sad to see GM discontinue it.
Wagon Review
Kids love stationwagons! It's so unlike the traditional van. They get a kick out of the back door opening sideways or down and facing the opposite way.
a lemon?
Bought from a great uncle at 8 years old, 70,000 miles. EGR valve went at 85000. EGR valve and catalytic converter went at 114,000. Trans went at 114,000, radiator leaks 2x in last 3 years (brand new one even), blew headlights/turn signals in 1 weekend, more trans problems. This car sucks and I'm dumping it...has 116,000 on it.
One sweet ride
I've only had the car for a week thus far, built like a rock and can take the miles it's got on it and act like brand new.
My 1991 Caprice
Sold in 1998, traded in for a 1998 Tahoe. Driven to North Carolina from Michigan twice. Towed a pop-up camper through the Smokey Mountains in low- gear without breaking a sweat. Put a lot of use on it.
The one that won't Die
I bought this car about 5 1/2 months ago.It had 116,000 miles on it.But when i bought it i knew that i wouldn't have to replace anything any time soon. I myself have not had to do one minor or major repair on this boat.It is the most reliable car i have ever driven. (Just make sure you buy it from an old person, they like those cars)
Should I even swiitch?
I own a 1991 Caprice. I am about to own a 1996 Buick Roadmaster if I think it will be as good a car as the Caprice. My Caprice gets 31mpg. No lie!!! My only complaint about the Caprice is the driver's sea. It's not a power one on this model and because I am only 5'2 i have to use a seat cushion so I can see over the dash. I also don't find the seat comfortable on drives longer than 1/2 hour. I've been told the Buick will fix that. The car has 370,000km on it and the only thing not working is the A/C. The engine has never been opened up, burns no oil. I'm only considering switching because of the newer year and the power seats.
Attractive & Powerful
The best looking vehicle ever designed combined with V8 power and a roomy interior makes this the perfect car for anyone, but, especally familes. Unless you're towing a lot of cargo, the 20.4 cubic ft. of trunk space plus the 5-passenger (6 if kids are in the back) leaves much to be desired in the way of an ugly SUV. Low maint. and 100's of thousands of miles will go by before you have to get something else.
smooth ride?
This has really been the best car i have ever owned. For the first 6 months i had absolutly no problems w/ it. But then stuff started to wear. I had the hole front steering done, then the intake manifold gasket, followed buy shocks and then the timing chain and valve cover gaskets..But since i did all the work myself instead of spending over $1250 i spent just under $350
The Wagon
Only car in the world that can turn heads , no matter what you drive. The car is almost 6 feet wide . The last of the real Land Yachts

Classic Land Yacht
This car is great. Never had a problem with it, handles well, plenty of power.
Summary of vehicle condition.
Oil was changed every 3,000 (as close as possible)miles. I have never had to add any oil between changes. Maintenance was performed as soon as possible. Vehicle was never in any major accident and only three very minor ones. Upholstery is in excellent condition.

Review
Good car, good gas mileage, fits a lot of people. Bought it with 116,000 miles on it has never had a problem except for light bulbs going out. Rear defroster does not work right now. Gas mileage is not bad. I average around 20- 23 mpg with marathon gasoline. Has rust on bottom rear fender behind tire and has a lot of rust under the car
a great classic
I actually had a 93' caprice. this was my fisrt car. i loved it so much. the exterior styling is just so unique and admirable. i bought this car used with the above mileage on it. it ran great, tranny shifted smoother than a baby's ass. great acceloration from the 16V 5 liter engine. most comforatable car i ever been in. sadly i got in a bad wreck with this car and totalled it. i really miss this one. great car!!!
Caprice LTZ
One of the most reliable cars we have ever owned. Purchased new, and currently has 138,580 miles & repairs have been limited to normal wear items, such as brakes, belts and a new battery. Engine, transmission and exhaust system are all original. Wish we could buy a new Caprice
Money well spent
Very reliable. Blew oil pan gasket at 130,000, no other problems. Easy owner maintenance.
caprice built like a rock
I purchased this vehicle last year with over 160000. It is in excellent shape. Had alot of miles on it but The car had been well taken care of by the looks of it. It now has over 212000 miles on it and still no oil usage. Still blows cold air and gets 25 miles to the gallon on the highway. I love this car. Chevrolet has a good thing with the caprice.
Best Car I've ever had
Bst car that I have ever owned. Geat for towing and long trips on the highway. Petty easy to work on too.
Caprice (Police Package)
Purchased as retired police car (132, 000 CITY miles.) 5.7L is flawless, fast, and VERY potent! Car rides like a dream! During east coast visit, hit up to 115 mph on I10 thru Arizona. Felt like I was going 50mph at most. The controls are made well and handle use w/o breaking.
This car does not like corners
I want people to know that these cars do not like corner's.
