Used 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche Consumer Reviews
Tail gate
Tail gate on the box, is very hard to keep closed when driving down rode, slamming, works sometime, most of time falls open, 1st few times scares the heck out of you.
Love my Avalanche
I bought it new & now have 74,000 miles. I love this truck & would buy another. The major mechanicals; engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, etc., no problems, however, the rear axle bearings had to be replaced at one point, which is the only problem that I have had with the truck. Very reliable & can always count on it. Very comfortable & smooth for a truck. Very useful, like the midgate & the rubber lined bed.

"Flash" Your Friends
I agree with the guy who thinks the price should be raised so as to maintain an "air" of exclusivity. This is the best vehicle I've ever owned, period. For some reason, I got her for $9850 below sticker. I guess Chevy is trying to put every other truck manufacturer out of business. I got the Z-71, leather, sunroof combination and it turns heads everyday inside and out! She can handle off-roading too. The Z-71 package is a steal. Make sure to add the 4:10's. GM can finally say it again: "MARK OF EXCELLENCE!"
Best car I ever had
I am a contractor and use this car / truck in my work. I convert it from SUV to truck 1 to 3 times per week. It literally is like having two vehicles.
A perfect Dad's weekend truck!
90% of the time I don't need an 8' bed. But those times that I do it's great. The only problem I've had was about every 20th start I would get smoke out of the exhaust. Dealer found a SB that addressed the problem, replaced the PCV valve and BAAM, no more problem. In spite of what some reviews say about the "pain" of changing from SUV to 8' bed, it really is easy and doesn't take much time at all.
