Trying to purchase or order a 2009 Dodge Challenger SE because that is the model we can afford. Local dealer said they are not making the SE anymore. They said the G package is the only one that will be made. Can you confirm this? Can a 2009 SE still be ordered? Is the factory closed or open? When will they begin making the vehicles again?

It's a great car. But unless you have alot of money- I agree that one should wait a year or two for rebates and or special financing. I really want one myself and I could afford it but I think to spend your money wisely, one must wait. But if you really want it now. Wait about 6-9 months, buy that time you should be able to get invoice if you ... Read More

I'm seeing that the 2009 Challenger will be available in the R/T and the R/T will have 370hp compared to the 340 it currently has. Combine that with the 6 speed manual and I'm thinking I'd really like this car. I emailed my local Dodge dealer who I test drove a Charger at and they told me to get a 2009 Challenger, regardless of model, is $5K over MSRP and they ... Read More

i keep hearing that everywhere about the LS7 but no proof. i heard they were definitely making the Z06 until 2009, and possibly even until the next generation of corvettes. will someone show me the GM announcement about this? or an article in a magazine and/or this website and/or another? or is this just a rumor?

A pretty good article marred by some pretty glaring errors. As mentioned above, assembly has always been slated for Oshawa, Canada. Also, the LS7 has no future. It will not be in the next Z06 nor the Camaro. It is being replaced by the LS8,9,A, etc. and the upcoming Gen Vs. The rest of the article was basically what I got reading between the lines of the G8/Charger comparo.

Platform sharing. Gotta love it. Car companies spread the cost of developing a crash structure or a suspension system or powertrain over a number of different models that theoretically will appeal to different paying customers. It's economies of scale, as the guys wearing the suits like to call it. Comparison Test, by Proxy: 2010 Chevrolet Camaro vs. 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8

I am not in a big hurry to get a new car and I definitely don't need the SRT. but I like the idea of smaller v8 or v6 model trims being available come fall/winter to purchase cheaper as an 09 model. I like your way of thinking forgekiller1. I think that we should take our B-29's (now B1's) and bomb the Japanese car plants that have invaded our country. They say that they are American car companies but do they expect to believe their propaganda? Apparently, many Americans have bought into the idea. Where do you think that all the profits go??? • Glad to see the Challenger re-emerge on the car scene...

Written by: mashkm on Aug 1, 2006 9:02:08 AM

I am thrilled to once again see the Challenger re-enter the automobile market once again. I was an original owner of a 1972 Dodge Challenger Rally which had a modest 340 Magnum V8, with 240 HP. It was nothing compared to it's more powerful 1970 and 1971 Challenger R/T brothers, which had the larger 383, 440 Magnum and 426 Hemi engines, but the styling was great just the same. My 1972 ... As an original owner of a 70 Challenger R/T 440 6-pack, I love the idea of recreating somethings that's true to the 1970, also my all time favorite was my 2nd car a 1969 Z28 with the famous M22 Rock Crusher" 4-speed that I bought in 1974. So I can see where some old school are a little put back by the over the top look of the camaro concept.Back in ... Read More

I agree with you gearhead4, but I can clearly see brysok6's point too. I wish DCX hadn't done such a carbon copy clone to the '70 Challenger. I would have appreciated some forward styling to go along with a design that paid it's respect to the original. Remember the concept Charger of 5 years ago ?, that's what I'm talking about, it was undeniably a Charger, yet it was fully modern ... Read More

I agree, although its too bad! I loved the plymouth line of 60's and 70's cars, but the dodge cuda' or dodge roadrunner just doesn't have that ring to it. The new challenger is going to be the biggest thing since my x-wife's bungee cord broke in colorado. thanks!

Written by: shipo on Jan 5, 2006 8:43:37 PM

Hmmm, a new Road Runner, I'm thinking that would require a "Double Dust-Off" ceremony. Why? Well, unless DC calls it a Dodge Road Runner (don't sound quite right), they'd need to reincarnate Plymouth as well. That by the way isn't a bad thing as far as I'm concerned, but it probably ain't gonna happen any time soon. ;-) Best Regards, Shipo

Maybe our Hosts can change the title of this discussion from "2010 Dodge Challenger" to something more generic like, "Next Generation Dodge Challenger". Best Regards, Shipo

I've heard that by 2009 or so there will be a revised Dodge Magnum. I hope Dodge can trim the weight of this new Challenger. They had better enter it in sports car racing like Ford is doing with the new Mustang which has already won four races against BMW M3s, Porsche 911s, Nissan 350Zs, and other cars in Grand-Am Cup. Also, the new Pontiac GTO.R. has won one race since ... Read More
