Cadillac STS/STS-V Prices Paid and Buying Experience

  • My 2009 STS saga

Written by: cadillacmike on Dec 21, 2011 10:15:35 PM

Gee, nothing here for over 2 years. Wow I guess STS buyers are too busy for this forum (or too rich to care). Well, I'm neither, and I have liked the STS ever since it went to RWD in 2004. But the price scared the bejezzus out of me, especially the NorthStar V8 equipped ones ($56,000 MSRP with no options!). After all I couldn't very well get an STS with the ... Read More

Is Cadillac's Image Dying and Does Anyone Care?

STS-V would be interesting and rare, but the rest...meh. It seems to have been about 3/4 finished, good for 2005, hard to justify still being sold mostly untouched in 2010. XTS looks pretty cool. Caddy needs to build this image, not only an image of harsh angles for the sake of hard angles, and blingy SUVs beloved by wannabe gangstas, trophy wives, and old men. Only at GM could the Chinese ... Read More

Cadillac STS: Good Quality?

  • Get the STS

Written by: mourerj on Sep 25, 2009 12:22:46 AM

I've had my 2007 STS for nearly 3 years without a single problem. Statistical data suggests the person using the term "lemon" for his STS did indeed get a very rare bad apple of the bunch. Remeber Cadillac is #1 on several customer satisfaction surveys (e.g. JD power) -- yes, even beating #2 Lexus. Ditto for quality and repair frequency. Audi, BMW & MB have far more incidents per 1,000 cars ... Read More

"......cooterbfd correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the newer Cadillacs that all have that CTSish look to them had their own proprietary platform from the ground up. And this seems to be working quite decently for Cadillac. " No, they don't. The CTS and current (not 2010) SRX are based on GM's global sigma platform, while the STS and DTS use the old "G" platform that also underpins the ... Read More

    Written by: 62vetteefp on Aug 21, 2008 2:34:40 PM

Cadillac has quietly stalled its plans to build a 12-cylinder flagship sedan and continues to wrestle with details and timing on a proposed rear-wheel-drive replacement for the STS and DTS sedans. Inside Line has learned that the XLS sedan and its V12 engine, neither of which was ever officially approved for production, have been put on the shelf while Cadillac planners focus on developing a single high-end model to replace both ... I really like the CTS as well and it shows great promise that Cadillac is going in the right direction. I do like the details on the CTS better than the DTS which I own, however the CTS is a little too small for my tastes and the STS is too expensive. I hope the CTS-like attention to detail crosses over to the DTS. I hear there's supposed to be a ... Read More

Cadillac intends to start production in 2009 for global sale. GM has shown a CTS coupe concept to be produced next year. The year 1950 was the high point in the Cadillac brand’s post-World War II exports to Australia, when five cars were sold, including one to then-Prime Minister Robert Menzies. For the next 40 years, Cadillacs came to symbolize American culture. The spectacularly vulgar be-finned barges of the 1950s and 1960s epitomized the country’s prosperity, captured in the 1956 Judy Holiday hit movie “The Solid Gold Cadillac.” Yet, the cars rarely left ... I'm all for your enthusiasm but it should be noted the current CTS is on the same platform as the old one. I'm not sure about your theory that the first gen car wasnt meant to have a V series. I would say Cadillac planned to do it from the start and they did a good job for a first effort. The CTS-V had a few flaws but for $50k it ... Read More

Even BMW, with their excellent 535i, has not announced plans to abandon the 550i. I also agree with pretty much everything you say but do no wait for BMW to announce dropping the V8 in the near term. They will continue to pay gaz guzzler taxes until the tax is so high actual buyers refuse to pay it. BMW will just pay the penalties as long as consumers support them. When ... Read More

  • what Cadillac could do

    Written by: sls002 on Dec 13, 2007 10:41:33 AM

My understanding is that Cadillac plans to move the DTS to a global RWD platform and to drop the sigma STS, making it a DTS model. This would leave the CTS as the only sigma platform model (as the SRX is also moving to a smaller platform too). So, when the STS is dropped, say after the 2010 model year (when the current CTS has been in production for 2 years), ... Read More

The time is right for Cadillac to develop a V12 super sedan, but General Motors' luxury division should also be working to patch the hole in the lower end of its model line. A new, high-end luxury sedan – think prices ranging from $70,000 to $130,000 – with unique styling, sophisticated technology and a model line topped by the V12 is a natural move for Cadillac. It could lift the brand ... Read More

...I'll have to wait for 2010 when Cadillac, (hopefully) puts the DTS on a RWD/AWD platform. Right now, I'm happy with my current Seville STS. I'm 41 and I like the current DTS' styling, but I'm waiting for an updated powertrain. As for 8 gears in the Lexus LS460? That alone would frighten me away from the car. It's a darn passenger car, not a semi tractor! If that transmission goes ... Read More
