Vehicle rear ended

This VW gti 2010 is extremely fast, it really wants to say let me go! I am a safe driver with no accidents in thirty years. I was rear ended with no major damage, this car is amazing? The truck that hit me was damaged much more. If you were looking for the BMW 1 series handling and interior for half the price you found it. The smooth shifting with a manual is extremely easy, the interior is glove like with cloth? And every detail has been refined with the arm rest too comfortable, better locking motions than all previous models since I had previous generations. The standards in the base gti come with it all like touch radio, excellent radio connections for iphone and more.

THE original hot hatch.

Coming from a 94 325i, I was looking for something that was as fun to drive, but would also be kind to my wallet. This fine machine fits the bill perfectly, putting a silly grin on your face every time you press the accelerator, unleashing that sonorous tone from the two chrome-tipped exhaust pipes. If you are sensible with the throttle, the car is even capable of 34 mpg on the highway, which is amazing, considering what this is capable of. Handling is fairly neutral until you really push it, at which point you are reminded it's FWD. The interior makes you feel as if you are in a vehicle costing thousands more, perhaps tens of thousands. The quality of the materials is really that good

Best bang for the buck!

After test-driving many similarly priced vehicles, used and new, this one came out as a winner! Compared to Mini Copper/Clubman S, BMW 3-series, Japanese, WRX and MS3. If not pushed hard gives comparable mileage to Honda Fit and when driven hard, feels quicker and sportier than BMW 328i. For the money, amount of amenities in this car is amazing. Seats are very comfy. Day-to-day drivability is very high. Stock audio is comparable to premium audio. Turbo sounds intoxicating!

Drives great - but noisy

Wonderful care to drive - handling and feel are top notch. On a recent 5000 mile road trip I experienced no discomforts and exceeded 31 mpg easily. Problem is build quality is poor. The car has been full of rattles and squeaks since day 1, has some misaligned trim and is considerably under-optioned compared to its competitors (and also its predecessor) examples: climate control, auto-dimming mirror

Best Decision EVER!

I've owned two Audi's in the past five years...then I saw the '10 GTI and couldn't resist. Wow, what a great decision. I smile each time I drive the car. It's so fun, so fast and so sexy! People honk as I pass, ask about it when I'm filling up at the gas station and beg to drive it. The exhaust note turns heads and the 18" wheels are dynamite. I jam the DynaAudio system to the max and wow can it deliver! I push this car to the limit daily and it consistently delivers. I plead with anyone reading this to go test drive one immediately.

Tons of fun for the money and Teutonic build quality. GTI's love the back roads and the turbo has no lag for immediate and decent burst. Best at high revs but an additional 20-30 bhp would be nice. In town or traffic it is easy and quiet. Highway I am getting around 30 mpg. Lot of rear leg room - better than 3 series BMW or Audi A4 - and hatchback flexibility. This car has almost everything and I didn't bother to look at anything else, it meets all my practical and fun needs. Taken me 30 years of driving and admiring the GTI to finally buy one and have absolutely no regrets.

Best car for the money

I’ve been a BMW guy my entire life but as I get older, I’ve started placing much more emphasis on value. I spend a lot of time in my car and therefore wanted a car that is fun to drive, comfortable, stylish but utilitarian. After extensive research and studying my key numbers (0 to 60, mpg, and $ ), the GTI was by far the best in class. I’ve had this car for two months now and find it very comfortable and quiet. The quality of workmanship is also beyond my expectation for a car in this price range. Though I wasn’t really after exclusivity, this is not a car that you see very often. In my daily driving here is the high volume la traffic, I’ve only seen two 2010 gtis thus far.

This is my 3rd GTI. What can I say if it's not broke don't finx it. 1st GTI was a 1991, 2nd a 01. The fit and finish of the 2010 are by far simply amazing. For 24 and change you will not get anything close. Everything from ext styling to interior feel puts the car in a class above itself. VW has taken the car to another level and with the mk VI being my third GTI I can honestly say this is the best in class. I typically use this car for work and I smile every time I get in it. I wish I could be on the consumer testing panel during design. I would give VW some ideas that would make everyone want one.

The Adults' Hot Hatch

Sometimes you just have to grow up. Sometimes, you want to still have fun as a grown up. The gti does just that. With an interior that is on par with cars costing twice as much and a sporting attitude that lets it play with the big boys, it is a near perfect vehicle. Pop in the baby seats and be a family man (or woman), then pop them out and head to the track. The transition is that simple. Throw it into the curves, cruise on the highway, or drive in a really "spirited" manner - it can do it all. Wonderful car for those of us that want some fun, some refinement, and have a real life to live.

"After you read my review you are all going to think VW paid me to say this: Nothing could be farther from the truth. I bought my 2010 GTI 2 dr in Candy White w/DSG paddle shifter- equipped Automatic. This car is sleek, stealthy and a head-turner when freshly washed. I make up excuses daily to drive it as frequently as possible. This little hot hatch is truly fun to drive. The turbo is responsive & the shifting is absolutely spot on when using the manual mode. It handles superbly, reminiscent of a souped up go- kart. The exhaust note is just perfect as is the sound emanating from the resonated air box under the hood. I can't get good gas mileage w/this pocket rocket. A true & true fun car!

The performance is awesome all around & still feels a bit on the luxury side, 6 spd shifts perfectly, very comfortable heated seats, high quality interior. I actually get 30 mpg on a regular basis which I think is excellent! I test drove many vehicles which were more powerful but chose the GTI because hands down it was all around awesome. This car is so fun to drive I find myself leaving the house and just driving for hours with no destination in mind. I have tornado red with the 18" wheel pkg & this car turns heads everywhere I go. I can't say enough good things about this vehicle.

The GTI is a perfect blend of practicality and sportiness. Balancing the benefits of a compact hatchback profile with 4 doors (including ample room for real adults in the back seat!) and a sporty, fun-to- drive nature that encourages you to take the next corner just a little faster than you might normally make the GTI one of the preeminent values on the market today.

I've had my 2010 GTI for just under 2 months, and it has been a pleasure to own. My last car was a first generation Mazda6, and as a single guy in my 20s, I wanted something smaller, better on gas, and sportier. This car is a much better fit for me. Looked at the Mazdaspeed3, WRX, and Evo, but this car, while not quite as fast, is better rounded and much more classy. The plaid cloth seats are one of my favorite things about the car. Paying more for leather is pointless. I've been averaging 25 MPG in mixed driving and can easily get 31+ under highway conditions. My first mod was installing the European-spec cup holder, which has an awesome VW-engraved bottle opener and a sliding cover.

Waited all year... Read every review (especially here)/ Compared the CPO Audis/Beemers. Vowed not to spend the $ on the Autobahn pkg or Bi-xenons...HA. Finally took delivery yesterday of a brand new 2010 United Grey w/ every option but NAV (incl Autobahn Pkg and those Bi-xenons)for under $28K. Dealer was professional. GET YOURS BEFORE THEY ARE GONE!! Price only increases for 2011... Wife and kids love it. So do I. Thanks for the info All!

I have had this car for 7 months and it's a capable daily commuter. Ride is comfy and balanced. 200 hp is not all that overwhelming but it is enough to get you in trouble if you don't watch it. The interior design is clean and feel luxurious like the Audi's. The cargo space is plenty and the rear passenger leg room is excellent. The car is fun to drive and it gets a very good gas mileage. I drive 70% freeway and I average 28mpg. The only mechanical problem I have had is the rear window washer nozzle drip. I am not sure if VW has come up with a permanent fix for this because the first repair didn't get rid of the problem.

I was looking for a car to replace my 2000 Acura RL. I wanted a car that was fun to drive above all else, but also one that was a good daily driver and fit my active lifestyle. I considered the following vehicles: Acura TSX, BMW 3 series, Audi A4, Mazdaspeed 3, VW CC and GTI, and Subaru WRX and STi. In the end the GTI ended up winning. It is, IMO, the best combination of fun to drive and nice to live with for the money. This car puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. If you are looking for a car to love, not just drive, I highly recommend it. I love mine. My wife and I did a 3700 mile road trip in it, and it was flawless.

Owners since Dec 2009 of 4dr DSG GTI + Autobahn Package (aka leather seats and moonroof). It is great car all around. Quality is top noch (I guess no surprise here). Even MKV Jetta it looks like the car was made by different company. I love about everything about the car, so does my wife.

Great all around car. Engine electronic can be problematic. VW is difficult to deal with on what I consider manufacturing faults. When everything is running right it’s a great car.

Best All-Around Car For The Enthusiast

I bought a higher mileage 2010 MK6 GTI with 82,000 miles 2 years ago. I was initially concerned about perceived hit or miss VW/Audi reliability issues. But I was so impressed by the test drive that I went for it and traded in my beloved 2008 MINI Cooper S. Glad to report that 24,000 miles later I've yet to have a single issue with the GTI. Unbelievable considering the higher mileage. Just regular preventative maintenance such as oil changes, spark plugs and brake pads/rotors. Engine power was decently stout and pairs great with the DSG transmission. I patiently waited a year to upgrade the power with an APR stage 1 tune. HP/torque improved from a decent 200 hp/207 lbs/ft to an APR claimed 260 hp/317 lbs/ft. It feels it as the GTI went from spritely to downright fast (for a FWD hatchback). Let's just say finding yourself at 135 mph is far too easy and leave it at that. Interior build quality is Audi-like with soft touch materials and thoughtful design. Even the headliner, commonly ignored by many car companies, is a high grade textured dark grey fabric not unlike what you'd find in an Audi or Porsche. Seats are very comfortable and are infinitely adjustable. Carpeting is thick and plush and sound deadening is good. Engine is silky smooth and makes very un-like 4-cyl sounds. It's quiet when driven around town but makes a pleasant pipe organ-like sound under hard acceleration. I average about 26 city/32 hwy and 28 mpg overall; I drive more city than hwy. Highly recommended car.

APR Stage II GTI Makes all the differenc

I have always been an Honda person. This is my first VW - and I loved it from first drive. The feel is very different from the SI and Speed3s that I've owned. I just had the car flashed with APR's stage II and this car is now unreal! I'm getting 26MPG around town and over 30 on the freeway plus I can blow past most muscle cars as long as I get a rolling start (otherwise I can't stay connected due to excessive torque).
