An average car, just got worse after "redesign"

2020 Nissan Altima
2017 was probably the best year for family sedans, but how was I supposed to know? Toyota killed the very comfortable camry with their 2018 redesign, which turned it into a back-breaker with stiff ride and super uncomfortable seats. Altima gets 2 stars because nissan did not quite kill it with the 2019 redesign, but made it worse than a 2018 altima. Altima does drive much … better than a new camry (which I have driven as rental car). Altima has stronger passing power on highway and better uphill drive than a camry on account of its good low end torque. Front seats are narrower than those of 2018 altima by about one inch, which makes them much less comfortable (reduced side support) than the older altima- example of Nissan cutting corners. Lumber support is not standard except for the highest trim, which is why I chose to buy the base model - why pay thousands more for an equally uncomfortable car? So, ended up with this altima because: 1. could not find my first choice- a new Ford Taurus 2. the new camry gives me back pain in 10 minutes 3. Altima has the best drivetrain power delivery among cars of this class and price. 4. wanted to get a sedan before MORE REDESIGNS destroy them fully. Did NOT trade in my 8 year old Camry because it is still WAY MORE comfortable to sit and drive than any of these new junky cars. I am sure my old camry will outlast the new altima!!
