Another Blown Motor, Toyota Strikes Again

2024 Toyota Tundra Platinum 4dr CrewMax 4WD SB w/6.5' Bed (3.5L 6cyl Turbo gas/electric hybrid 10A)

I wish there was something below 1 star, Toyota doesn’t deserve that 1 star for how they have treated me. I Recently leased a 24’ Tundra Platinum Hybrid, 2200 miles in the engine is blown. I only had the truck for 52 days, to date Toyota Corp and the dealer have been nothing short of unforgivable. This is 6th Toyota vehicle, all higher end, were 60+ days in and the dealer hasn’t even diagnosed it, Toyota is dragging their feet also so I literally can’t do a damn thing. I had a lot of admiration for the Toyota brand but the Toyota I grew up on is not the same company it is today sell $80k trucks that can’t finish out a lease term. [non-permissible content removed] I didn’t make it 60 days. These trucks are garbage, most Toyota dealers are scumbags because Toyota just wants to protect it quarterly statement instead of owning up to their mistakes and doing the right thing. Don’t believe me? Look at how long it took for anything to be done with the 22-23s, then look at how they lied about it, had the dealers and press reporting that only the “non hybrids “ were effected. Yeah until you buy a non hybrid, engine blows and you get to make payments on your new truck with no vehicle and no end in sight. I’ll never buy another Toyota product, every vehicle has issues. Their garbage.

Overpriced truck, subscriptions required

2024 Toyota Tundra SR 4dr Double Cab SB (3.5L 6cyl Turbo 10A)

The truck is supposed to be economical with a V6 twin turbo, but uses more gas than a Silverado with a V8. The gas tank for some reason is about 17-18 gals, which only gives you a conservative 300 mile range. The back seat is not meant for human use, I have the 2-3/4 cab, king cab or something but not the full 4-door. My 7 yr old doesn't sit comfortably in the back. I haven't found a way to open th tailgate from inside the cab. There is no remote start included, but have to use the Toyota app to remote start it. The second you open the door, the truck shuts off. Genius design there. Cruise control obligates you to have radar on, when you come up close to another vehicle the truck slams on the brakes rather than coasting. The braking is much too abrupt. The power train is very good. Has great acceleration and is quick to go. The turbo whine is exhilarating. The fact that remote start is subscription based is insulting, just straight garbage. A $50k truck without standard remote start is just wasteful money-grubbing, tactics and then only providing 1 key fob with a second being provided in the future. The excuse being a equipment shortage is getting tiresome, supply chains have been corrected. I just dont see any value in this vehicle. My previous '21 Silverado, a $43K truck, had more value than this truck.

Worth the wait...

I waited until 2024 for Toyota to work out the bugs that comes with a new product release -I am glad I did. Overall well built, ride is smoother than many reviews say, fuel consumption compared to my 2018 Ford F-150 V8 is noticeably better, lots of bell and whistle electronics that can be distracting at first, and overall a well built truck with obvious quality. The only down side so far is a whistle from the climate control system that comes and goes. Dealership was right on it and said no problem we will look at it. I expect it will get resolved. Compared to my Ford - just as good of a truck with the certainty of reliability. That's not always the case with a North American trucks. If your pulling a large heavy 5th wheel, get a hybrid or go North American with the extended warranty. But for every day towing the Toyota is more than up to the challenge.

Fantastic Vehicle with Luxury and Edge

Toyota rarely ever disappoints. I recently upgraded from a Tacoma 2021 4x2 TRD Sport to a Tundra 2024 Limited 4x4. In nearly every way I am fully satisfied. As a 6'5 male, I needed more space, and I now have ample room and enough to spare. The family fits comfortably and I also fit in the backseat if I need a DD. ;) The cabin runs quiet and smooth, and the seats are very comfortable for longer travels. The infotainment system works and responds well and the larger 14" screen is beautifully responsive and can easily be turned off or dimmed without challenge. My only gripe is the over-gracious and courageous gas mileage that reports 19/22 which is...ludicrous in real-world conditions. I am a very conservative driver who enjoys driving and cruising and barely achieves 17/18 mpg. This is "okay" all things considered; however, in reality, it does erk me a bit that we customers are lied to. Yes, I did do prior research with Edmunds and others who reported similar "fibs" in the gas. (I even have a tonneau cover to improve aerodynamic drag). All in all though, I am over-content and happy with this purchase. Gracias Toyota ---keep going strong and you will continue having loyal customers. ***Updated as of 08/07/2024 - near 8 months*** After 8 months of driving this vehicle, long-distance and my general "daily" vehicle, I still have no true gripes. This Tundra runs much smoother than my previous 2019 Tacoma 2x4, the real-world gas mileage is arguably "better" than the Tacoma as well. The cabin is quiet, comfortable, and spacious --all passengers of various sizes have complimented the room and comfort. The 4x4 is as powerful and responsive as ever --everything to expect from Toyota. *There was a recent update on the infotainment software that forces the left-hand options of Android/ApplePlay, music, Toyota, etc to stay permanently on the screen instead of hiding away. This is extremely frustrating being that it then reduces the screen size of the advertised 14" screen. This update reduces the map size and other on-screen options --PLEASE fix this update, and customers/consumers ignore this update and do not download it!

Loving my Tundra

Have had my 2024 SR5 TRD off-road for awhile now and love it, the TT V6 has plenty of power and turbo noises make me happy. My lunar rock truck looks amazing, and all the tech is super easy to use and makes driving long distances super comfortable. Lack of tow hooks sucks, but easily solved with some aftermarket solutions. Can’t imagine going back to a Chevy, love how capable and unique this truck is.
