NOT a work truck
1. Parking sensors make it so you can't back up to a curb if a toolbox is sitting on the curb. Attempted to back up to a dumpster and the truck won't let me get with in 6 feet. Had to turn off the parking sensors so I can throw away trash. 2. The plastic that holds the rear license plate captures anything and everything that goes between the bed and tailgate when you close the tailgate. 3. Can't step on rear bumper end caps to get into the bed of the truck. They are too small to step on, and snap off like a lego brick. Not sure if I broke it or not. 4. Adaptive cruise control gets blocked by any amount of snow. This disables the cruise control, so you can't use cruise control if it snows. You will have to pull off the road and clear the sensor. Then, as the covered sensor alarms you in the display. BUT!!, it never goes away. So you can't use the speedometer screen because the cruise control warning won't go away. 5. Boost lag or bad transmission. It is frustrating pressing on the accelerator and nothing happens, then, it decides to engage and you take of like an un-prepared missile. Legitimately don't know if transmission is damaged or if there is something wrong with the throttle assembly. If you're coasting at 30 mph, and try to accelerate. It will tach up to 4,000 rpm, then take off like you just dropped the clutch. Either way, it effing sucks. 6.BEEPING. Do you like beeping. It beeps when you close the door, It beeps when you close the door with the engine on, it beeps when a car drives by in your blind spot while you're parked. It beeps if you try to back up with the parking sensors on. It has more warnings than anyone can tolerate. 7. Can't drive with the door open. Sometimes I open the door to look for obstructions while I back up or drive on work sites. Well, the truck will slam on the brakes, and start beeping frantically. Then you have to shift back into park, and close the door before you can drive again. 8. It's 2024 and this thing gets 17 mpg. Criminal. 9. Perforated Seats. Here's a fun game. Spill something on perforated seats and try to wipe it up. Ha ha, loser, it soaks through the perforations and there is nothing you can do. 10. Door locks. So if you're the passenger sitting up front, you can unlock ALL the doors by simply putting your hand on the handle sensor. But, not true for the drivers side. It only unlocks the driver side!!!! That is the default setting. The person without the keys can unlock all the doors, but the driver can not. I have programmed it so the Drivers side will do this, but it resets after you drive it once. 11. Gremlins. This vehicle has a ton of them. The HVAC system shut down on my the other day. Body vents wouldn't work, only feet and defrost. System wouldn't come on at all until I drove a few hundred yards. I scheduled to have it fixed....and its working again. Can't wait til the entire instrument cluster dies when its out of warranty. 12. I hate this truck with a passion. AND, I'm a Toyota Fan Boy. Glad the company wasted their money before I got into one of these toads. It's frustrating to drive with the acceleration delay. Then youre mocked constantly with BEEPING.

I feel like I can take on the actual Tundra!
The truck is very well put together. I’ve seen the videos of loose parts and quality issues, but I don’t see anything like that thus far. I went with the Platinum trim because I’ve had Lexus vehicles for the past 13 years and I also have a Lexus TX & RX in the household, and I’ve become accustomed to a certain trim level. I’ve gone over this truck with a fine toothed comb and do not see any imperfections that are obvious. I’ve spent a few hundred miles on the highway and it is very comfortable and quiet. It might be more comfortable than my TX, I’m not sure. The pick up is very fast when you hit the throttle. Some people say the I Force Max feels “artificial” but I think the engine and electric motor are very smooth and seamless together. I am averaging about 21 mpg (I am trying though). I think you would be fine with V6 but the “Max” is a very nice upgrade. The truck comes with a lot of safety features that help you navigate around objects easier, due to the truck’s large size. However, the truck does not drive “large”, it essentially drives like a car. I am doing some payload and hauling work this weekend and I will be utilizing this truck in a power washing business as well, so I will update my review after I’ve put the truck through a bit more stress. I do love this truck so far, even more then my last Lexus ISF Sport, which I adored. I hope this truck continues to impress. Definitely check them out. Drive as many half ton trucks as you can to compare. I almost leased a Sierra 1500 Denali, but the Tundra was smoother with the throttle and less bumpy (that 6.2 liter in the Sierra is a beast though) and I love the Platinum trim interior. The 2025 Ram was also very good, but I trust Toyota’s dependability more. Hopefully they are as dependable as the V8s were/are. I think the Ram has an amazing design for the center council area, but I felt a bit cramped in the Ram and Toyota has a better infotainment set up and more actual buttons. Although, the Tundra needs more interior lighting badly! Good luck!

Real talk review!
I want to give an honest review here for those thinking about purchasing a 3rd gen Tundra. I had a 2014 Tundra Platinum that I traded in early this year. I was under the impression that I had everything I needed on that rig. I was wrong. The technology and ride comfort can’t be matched. Everything about this truck is better. I will not go into all the features here, test drive one and find out. I am on a lot of Tundra forums, and people have complaints not all factual. Most of the complaints come from lower trims that don’t have all the great comforts. Real world, some things you look at and say that quality is not great. Small things like the plastic on the rear bumper. I had a leak in my panoramic roof. Toyota fixed in a day. A recall does exist on earlier models, which Toyota is remedying. I am not worried at all with the Toyota standard not being met. Keep in mind some people will find a problem for every solution. This is a good truck. Don’t go with the excuse it is not a truck anymore, because I don’t want the ride comfort and tech features. That is what all trucks are shooting for today. Talk to real owners before you buy. Not blogs and reviews that can be posted by anyone. You want real world opinions, see a guy or girl with a 3rd gen and ask what do you think? You will like what they have to say.

Not Toyota Quality…very disappointed!
Purchased a new 2024 Toyota Tundra. No recall on the 2024 huge engine failure recall of all 22’ and 23’s yet but many 24’s and now 25’ engines are failing. Feel like it’s a matter of time. The passenger side doors on most of the 24’ Tundra’s are misaligned by almost 3/16”. It’s ridiculous and the service center says they can’t do anything about it. The service manager took me out to the parking lot and showed me an entire row of 24’s with misaligned doors! I wish I could add pictures to this review…Recall!!! Gas pedal hesitation! If I’m slightly rolling especially if I’m in an intersection turning left I’ll hit the pedal and go nowhere for a second or two then darts out creating a possible accident. Dealer said they haven’t heard of this problem but I read about this problem all over the internet. Dealer said it might be caused by turbo hesitation and transmission gear search. Nothing they can do about it! We’ve had several Toyota’s but this truck is not Toyota quality!! Beware!! Would absolutely NOT recommend!

1794 is stunning!
Traded in a 2022 Sierra Denali for the 1794 and I’m absolutely in love! This truck is a beauty inside and out. It’s a little bit smaller so easier to drive, it’s smooth and just extremely comfortable. Just absolutely love the interior and comfort features. My only small gripes are the fuel economy but I was spoiled with Duramax 28 MPG so that’s on me and my other is the ultra sensitive sensors when pulling forward or backing up. I wish there was a way to adjust the sensitivity. You can purchase and customize so much with Toyota trucks and I think that makes ownership fun as well. If you’re looking for an everyday full size truck with awesome features and options and one that will hold value and keep young going for along time, I’d definitely take a look at the Tundra.
