It's a Toyota, what do ya expect?

I'm approaching 190k miles on my '06 Tundra. I drove it off of the lot with 9 miles on the odometer. The truck is great and have had no major issues with this truck. I have replaced the front brakes twice, the rear once. I have replaced the serpentine belt and spark plugs only one time. It seems the older the truck gets, the better the mileage is. Currently, I'm getting 17 mpg running regular unleaded fuel. I've had no leaks on any of the seals on the engine, transfer case, or differential. The truck rides as if it was new, with little road noise, vibration, or any unusual sounds that would raise concerns. If you are in the market and can find this truck with low mileage, I highly recommend this truck. My only complaint is that it only has the 4.7L 271hp engine, which is weak, but it will pull your trailer if you find the right gear.

I purchased this truck when dealers were phasing out the 1st generation to make room for incoming 2007s. This is the best vehicle I have owned by far. All I have done is scheduled maintenance put fuel in it and go. No repairs. No issues. Rides smooth. Have pulled 6000# travel trailer for 22000+ miles and 16' utility trailer with tractor or whatever is loaded on it another 5 or 6000 mi. Pulls like a champ, has tow package with 3.92 rear differential. Installed air bags on rear, truck hauls everything I put in it dependably. Still in great condition. This could be the last truck I own.

Almost Worth The Wait

After researching both large and small trucks for the last few years, the decision came down to the Tundra because of its build quality and price. Overall the truck is great. Great to drive, really comfortable and very quiet. I've only had a minor problem with the brake light sensor keeping the brake lights on. I'm extremely disappointed in the gas mileage, 12 in town and 15 on the road (its only a 2WD). I would have been happy with 16/18. Makes me wonder how this may affect the engine over time. Got 20 years out of my last truck, but I'm not sure yet how this Tundra will fare over time.

Bought a 2006 Tundra 4x4 double cab TRD, and I love it! Truck is very comfortable on long trips, even with four people in. Truck gets decent fuel mileage ,I avg. 19-20 on long trips to the mtns. here in Colorado. Great sound system (JBL), one thing that helps alot with fuel I think is the camper shell I have. Back window makes for easier access to bed, the suspension is not too harsh, the TRD is a great package for going off road. All in all the best truck I ever bought.

I bought this new Tundra because a co-worker has one with 90K hard-driving miles and stil feels "new". I love the Tundra because it has ample room for 5 comfortable passengers, has an easy-to-use 4x4 system that has gotten me out of several icy situations. It has the refinement of a Mercedes-Benz combined with the fun of an ATV! After 2000 miles I would recommend this truck to anyone who needs a truck for family/projects/towing.
