New 2007 Prius
Just bought our new 2007 Prius two days ago. We were lucky, the person who ordered this car was a no-show. Car was on the lot for about an hour before we lucked out and found our new baby sitting there with its Seaside Pearl paint glistening in the sun. It has the level 5 option package. What a car! I haven't smiled this much in years. This car is so technologically advanced it makes other cars seem like ancient history. Its systems work so seemlessly, shifting back and forth from electric to gas and sometimes both, I am amazed. I am 6'3 and husky and I fit just fine, snug, but fine. Currently getting about 45-48 mpg overall, boy that's nice. I just smirk as I pass gas stations. Love it!
Headlight Defect!
I bought my Prius new and I love the car, but there are a couple major complaints. At around 30,000 miles the headlights will start to go out. It will start with only the driver side that you can turn back on by flicking them off and on again. The problem gets worse as time goes on. My car now has 110,000 mi on it and I can't drive down the street without flicking them. There is not a recall on this problem and there are no plans for one. The problem is due to the HID lights overheating the ECUs. They are 600$ a piece and it will burn out again in another 30,000 miles. I would suggest asking if this defect has been fixed before purchasing ANY year prius. Despite this common prob. I love it.

This car is the way to go
I have almost 600 miles on it and I have never had so much fun driving a car I love the constant gas status it makes driving efficiently fun. I was afraid the Bluetooth would be as bad as it is on many new cars but the sound is great and the auto linking is priceless. Also never having to use a key to lock the car unlock or start it is the coolest. The car has more power in take off then my Corolla did too.
Prius is a lot better than it looks!
The big plus is the mileage. I routinely drive 500 miles on $15 in gas. The big minus is the lack of power. It is only an issue when you really want to go, like merging. It cruises along at 80 MPH on the highway with no problem, but the mileage is a lot lower at high speeds. It's at its best in city and commuter traffic. There is a reason why so many taxis are Priuses.

Update on 2007 Prius will not go computer problem
First 8 years with the 2007 Prius was great. Loved this car, no problems nothing wrong. Now the 9th year and the car may have to be junked. While driving the car stops, will not move. All kinds of red lights come on the dashboard. I'm a 69 year old felmale and can not push the car to the side. I look at the rear view mirror and cars coming fast behind me.. I was not hit and finally a nice young man stopped and pushed me to the side, called AAA and was towed to the mechicanic. Repaired gas pedal for $400. Drove it two days and it stopped running again.. now I'm told it might be the communication between the computers. Any one know s anything about this problem.. Feb, 2017 Communications between computers in the Prius and ONLY a dealership can take care of the computer problems. Cost $2700 for the repair and now I'm on the road again. October 2017, after paying the $2700 to the dealership for the repair the car is doing great 👍.. love ❤️ the car again. Hoping I get another 100,000 miles...
