The good - great mileage (we are above the city rating in mixed driving), comfortable car, lots of cargo space; we can travel with a large dog kennel and luggage or I can carry an adult bicycle with the back seats down without removing the front wheel. The not so good - mileage very dependent on driving style, mileage drops significantly at interstate speeds; engine is noisy under load The little things - rear window wiper doesn't hinge away from the window, and that combined with rear spoiler make the rear window hard to clean; navigation (no tech package) overestimates time to arrival, also states your destination is ahead xx yards on left or right, but often you still have a turn to make, so unless you look at the screen, you miss the turn; Improvements - navigation as noted, air vent for back seats would be nice, outlet for back seat passengers would be helpful Updates - combined mileage is now right in the EPA estimates; colder weather has a detrimental effect on mileage; still like all of the qualities that made us want to buy it.

2013 Prius v Five - What a car!

I have been driving this vehicle for about 6 months (bought it in Sep 2016) and love it! The Prius is a dream to drive with nearly all the features you'd want to make your trips a pleasure. Although the acceleration isn't great, its pickup from low speed is impressive. With the CVT there is no shifting, so it's really smooth. This is the 3rd Prius I've owned, and they get better with each model year! I have had to spend nothing on maintenance beyond tires, oil and filter changes, wiper blades, etc. on this or my previous Prii. Not even brakes were touched (or required of be replaced) with my previous Prius that had almost 130K miles on it when I sold it. I highly recommend this car to anyone who wants an economical, reliable auto.

weak in the hills

Great driving in the city, and in the flats. A bit gut-less on the hills, and on-ramps. Even in Power Mode, the Prius is weak in the mountains.

After 100k, the Prius V's start to use oil. At 130k I was using one quart of oil every 1500 miles; that's 6 quarts of oil between changes! Toyota knows the problem and can fix it for thousands of dollars. I choose to trade it in.

Practical Prius V

I bought this wagon for the cargo space, gas mileage, and it's a Toyota which holds its value well. The interior cargo space is about the same as a small SUV but with much better gas mileage. I am averaging 38-42, and that's driving at the speed limit. Plenty of head and leg room (I'm 5'9). Voice command can be slow at times, hatch door is heavy to close, a lot of little extras missing for such an expensive car such as (sun visor extensions, rear a/c, remote use for hatch door, only one power adapter plug in the front). Aside from it's several flaws, I still love it! Great alternative to the small gas guzzling SUVs! However, if you are looking for a fun and fast car, this is not it.
