Factory defects that they won't fix

Beware of the electronics. If they fail intermittently as in my case, the dealer won't do anything until they see. I've been in 4 times and they can't reproduce a problem and told me I'd have to pay a diagnostic fee for them to dig into it. Worst customer support ever. I finally tracked down issue myself. The problem I was having was that sometimes if I hit a slight bump while accelerating or decelerating, the track would skip (on bluetooth player), or the radio station would change. There is a rotary encoder on the dash to switch tracks and tine the radio. I found that if you touched it slightly it would skip to the next track, no turning required. There was a "soft spot" in the rotation where the detents weren't clicking. After spinning it around a few times it started working properly. Probably just debris that got in during assembly, but what a pain in the butt to find and fix. I got zero help from the dealer or RAM on this one. They did at least fix the faulty gas gauge sensor, and tank pressure leaks that showed up after replacing the sensor. Only took 4 tries to get it right.

I now have 55000 miles on truck and still running great. Getting on avg 19 in town and 23 on hwy. Now I admit that I do not have a lead foot.It has a 5.7 hemi not the V6 as shown below doesn't offer that option to choose from. Lord knows why?

I have only 5600miles on the truck so far. To date, it has met all of my wants. The night visibility is great even in rain storms. The ride is comfortable, but road noise is greater than I had expected, louder than my 2012 Ram Bighorn. Handling is very good except when making sharp turns on wet pavement.

2017 Rebel Hemi 8 year Update

After 8 years (original owner) the Rebel has reached 18,900 miles, low since it is primarily our tow vehicle). It serves as the primary camping vehicle to tow our Grand Design camper (4-5k weight). The most recent trip of 450 miles averaged 9 mpg with limited traffic and 8.5 with constant stop and go. The adjustable height option makes hitching more convenient, the Ram Boxes frees up space on the interior, and the ride is very comfortable. Even towing, the power of the Hemi makes road travel easy with the load. Overall, the Ram is still like new. It has the original tires and has only needed one item - a new battery. After considering options, the best replacement seemed to be an Interstate rated for the Ram/5.7. In 2017 I purchased the “lifetime warranty” for this truck during the last year it was offered by Chrysler so I won’t be trading the Rebel anytime soon. Due to gas prices now, the Family “running around” purpose now goes to the new hybrid van so the Ram is a towing and hunting vehicle. Off road use for hunting is another very positive with the Ram Boxes for secure storage and the bed with divider. I have added a basic bed cover that keeps the bed dry. Off road, the adjustable height makes field and rutted road travel easy. The tires are the secret to grip and perform well in all conditions thus far. Space for gear is a big plus. Current snowfall in the region has been minimal and thus no problem for the Ram in fwd. I have considered the trade value and find $26k (sight unseen) to be too low to consider. This Rebel is still equal to any newer model. We are still very satisfied with the purchase and performance of this RAM.

I have been a GM guy for a very long time and when driving the new GM/Chevy trucks then the dodge, I was blown away. It's such a better truck and has more room, bigger motor, and more bang for the buck.
