Reliable car I'll miss
I bought the car new in 2006, lost it in an accident in 2016. At 10 yrs old the car was in exceptional condition. Aside from the regular maintenance, nothing major needed to be fixed ever. I think the most expensive repair was having to buy a new alternator and replace the original battery. My dad's 2004 Frontier is still running with 250k miles on it. If you can find a Nissan from this period, with reasonable miles on it in 2023, you'll have a reliable vehicle to get you from point A to B.
Best car I’ve ever owned.
I’ve got a 2006 1.8 5 speed. It has 275,000 miles and is running great. No major issues other than normal maintenance. I’m averaging 38-39 mpg even with this many miles on her

Plain-Jane car, bad handling, overpriced
Bought this in December 2006. Nothing special, no power windows or seats. No cruise, no ABS, no AC, wipers have 3 settings, too slow, too fast and 'use only in a monsoon fast'. Car is squirrley on the freeway, extremely noisy, but I've gotten almost 40MPG on roadtrips doing 70MPH. If you do not turn on the power and let it set and beep a few times before turning the engine it stalls or has a hard start. Runs great on regular oil. Interior is very cheap. cupholders are useless and cups can interfere with manual shift knob. Drivers door has always had a tiny and occasional leak.
What a deal!
I knew the 2007 Sentra was a complete redesign, and I always wanted a 2.5 Sentra. The dealer had a SpecV that listed for almost $20,000, but after all the incentives I saved thousands. This car ROCKS. Runs like a rabbit and still gets great gas mileage. Stereo sounds super. People call it outdated, but I still think the SpecV looks awesome. Mine is the Volcanic orange color. I recommend snapping up one of the '06 models before the '07 hits the lots. The dealers are selling a great little car for a song to make room.
Poor manufacturing
This vehicle overall is reliable, but there are some major issues that have convinced me to never purchase a Nissan again. 1. Computer failure at under 1000 miles 2. Wheel bearing failure of both rear wheel bearings at under 30000 miles (Dealership tried to get out of warranty repair until I showed them that the wheel bearings were specifically covered under drivetrain warranty) 3. Technical bulletin on the fuel pump that causes a hard start. This fuel pump problem of course failed just past the warranty limitation and costs dearly to replace. I recommend replacing this yourself as I fear Nissan may just replace the fuel pump assembly with another OEM "broken" assembly
