Great Improvement over Previous Models

This is our 3rd Pathfinder; 7th Nissan for our household. We loved our previous 2013 and 2018 Pathfinders - all drove well, loved CVT smoothness, Nissan reliability. This 2022 Pathfinder does have a better design appearance, wider trunk that golf bags fit transversely (thank you!!), and still has smooth shifting despite getting away from CVT, and more comfortable all around. Easy access to occasional 3rd row seats for the grandkids. Plenty of power for family and normal driving from this proven and reliable (non-turbo) V6 engine.

THINK TWICE before considering this one!!!!

2022 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 9A)

I do not know where to begin, I am very frustrated and completely regret this purchase. All in all my 2024 Pathfinder came in at a little over $53k, then add tax, license, doc fees, etc. I had many options at this price point, and honestly the 2.9% prime financing through Nissan was my deciding factor. In hindsight I would have opted for the standard higher rates over the competition in this category. The shifting is funny, first gear snaps and is not smooth going into second gear. On the road, there is delay from when I push the gas for the car to respond, feels slow to react and sluggish. The Bose stereo is basic, nothing exciting at all. I have tried to trade this in, and since this car is not desirable as others in this space, the depreciation is HORRIBLE! I was offered about $38k as a trade in, from paying $53k, only a few months ago and with only 3k miles on the odometer. Again, I regret this purchase.

Bought a Platinum model brand new off show room floor nice looking exterior and interior is top notch... however.. One week into ownership I started to have issues. A weird popping noise from the front. Dealer replaces strut mount... then 2 weeks later a more pop noise.. This time they said it was other side they replaced the entire strut assembly. Also screen radomly shutting off and not turning back on. The Climate control gauges stopped working. Dealer did a "software upgrade" still does this at times.... 12k miles the car died on me on the freeway while driving 70 mph. very dangerous as there was total loss of power and flashing service transmission. I made it to the side of the freeway barely..... towed to dealer.. dealer had car about a week and replace the Mass air flow sensor... at this time car has been in dealer a total of 6 weeks. Nissan never gave me any rental cars. Now at 16k miles the rear brakes are smoked... front brakes are in perfect shape at 8mm left.. rear is 2.5 MM. and rotors are also warped so will need full brake replacement. This car is the worst car I have ever driven its not reliable and the trade value of this car is worse than a high end sports car. Its lost over 25k value in just a year and 16K miles. Nissan is of no real assistance and dont really care. If you look at the forums about this car you will see so many people have issues with it.. Please do not buy this car!! unless you want to get ripped off.

Luxurious and capable

I have just over 23k miles on the Pathfinder now. It's been great. It's gas mileage is very good for the class. I love towing with this over a full size truck. It's so much easier to move through tight spaces and flip U turns. I have had one hiccup that was quickly and easily fixed under warranty. the install techs didn't install enough slide pin lube on the rear brakes at the factory causing them to seize and wear out prematurely. They said they were aware of this issue and would pay for all of it under warranty. My local dealer swapped it out in a day and no issues since. I feel Nissan's tech systems are far easier to use than other brands, such as Hyundai and Subaru. The Pro Pilot assist makes driving a breeze for road trips. I haven't had any ping ponging off of lanes while using this system, it tracks straight and true. This is something I can't say for many other systems I have tried. I think Tesla is the only one I have tried that did better than this. I love the interior design on this, it's something next level for the money. This isn't the Pathfinders of old that could go off-roading in Moab, but it does pretty good off road and should be more than enough for the average user. I love the 9 speed transmission. Glad Nissan switched to this for the vehicle. It's perfectly geared for all situations and it's easy to grab a gear if you need to slow a load while towing or get more torque for a hill. All the maintenance on this vehicle is incredibly simple and due to the engine layout there is plenty of space. Only issue I could see is if you at some point 150k miles or more down the road need to remove the exhaust, where three cylinders are located in the rear against the firewall. This rides very quietly on the highway and is compliant at soaking up most harsh bumps. Seats are comfortable when they break in. Many Nissans need a good 40k miles for the seats to break in I have noticed historically, so once you hit about that they really soften up. They do that to ensure they last longer. In my experience this works and is better than having seats worn out at only 100k miles. I don't have much negative to say about it other than I wish it came with wireless android auto from the factory, but it's easy and cheap enough to get the wireless kit for it.
