This is my first suv after owning 2 bmw 3 series. I really miss the bmw. I love the power and looks but do not like the gas mpg. But that's what you get with a suv. For the 1st suv I have owned I really like it. I wished that I got the premium package tho.

My mom always told me to get a Nissan Pathfinder, but I wasn't really interested in buying a Nissan. Not sure why, at first it was the style of the SUV's, didn't really like it. Well my mom took me to Universal Auto Nissan and I got a better look at them. She convinced me to go, as soon as I saw the 2005 Pathfinder I fell in Love with it. It's fully loaded, leather interior, sun roof, air conditioning throught out the truck. Love the way my music sounds. I espicially Love the color (silvertone blue). It drives smooth with power. It's very comfortable. Since I got my 2005 Pathfinder I have been spreading the word. I just Love it and regret not getting it sooner. Thanks Nissan

transmission problems

I bought my Pathfinder new in 2005. Around 2008 started hearing this noise that was like a vibration. Kind of like when you are sitting at a stoplight and someone's stereo is very loud. Then, it had trouble shifting while driving. Would take a while to down shift, or shift up to a higher gear. Last summer our transmission went out $5900. Now, it is doing it again! I bought a nissan to avoid problems. I have had squeaky belts, and brakes, and numerous other smaller things fixed.

Excellent SUV. I have had many different SUV's and this by far outperforms any of them. When I first went to Nissan, I was interested in a Murano. However, the Murano did not have a lot of power compared to the Pathfinder. The Pathfinder sounds mean. That is great. It also has an agressive looking exterior. The interior is very well designed and user friendly. The Bose stereo system is excellent. The Pathfinder drives great and is very comfortable. This was an excellent purchase and I would recommend it to everyone.

It is my wife's car, and our all- purpose 4wd go anywhere-do anything vehicle. We love it for family use, and will go skiing in it soon. However, don't expect to pull a trailer effectively. It will, but a 6x12 U-Haul cut the gas mileage clean in half, and it struggled the whole time. I should have checked the torque numbers more before I traded in a 99 Yukon for it. Other than that, the problems/specifics I've noted are: rattling inner dvd panel(fixed by me), moaning brakes(at 6900 miles) gas mileage is more like 15-16/19-20, must set the 2nd seats up from recline to fold 3rd seats down, and need more of an arm rest on the driver's door. minor issues, though, for an otherwise great vehicle.

Good SUV for the money

Purchased in May of '05. Horrible experience with Tom Peacock Nissan in Houston. Vehicle is great, however, no mechanical problems whatsoever, great power, fun to drive, handling is superior. Few minor issues that others have mentioned - interior plastic scuffs/scratches very easily, and there are a few rattles/squeaks that have shown up in the first 7k miles. Hopefully these will diminish as the car gets older. I bought the Nissan hoping for a long lasting quality vehicle that can hold its own off the beaten path. Added the running boards myself for only $200 or so. Can't really complain about the gas mileage, as it has 270 horses, and I'm coming from a Ford F-150.

The new Nissan Pathfinder 2005 is a wonderful vehicle. I just purchased one before just before the new year and I can't drive it enough. The ride is so comfortable and the style is so classy! It really has a good take off and the brakes work like a charm. I especially like the hill descent control (HDC) feature on the Pathfinder. The new Pathfinder is completely different than the older models. I traded in my old 1997 Nissan Pathfinder which lasted a long time so I know this one will as well. I highly recommend the purchase of this vehicle. It is such a beauty and runs extremely well. Everyone looks at it!!

This is the first vehicle I've ever owned that truly gives a feeling of control over the road. It has the feel of driving a 'clipper ship' down the road, heavy but sharp and crisp handling. The lines are clean and the engine can throw out some great force when you need it. I was surprised to find the gas mileage better than the much smaller Explorer Sport I previously owned. I'd highly recommend this vehicle.

When my husband and I first bought this we only had 2 kids, then came #3. First of all, I cannot fit all 3 of their carseats in the middle seat, I have to put my oldest in the back seat which means she has to step on the middle seat to get in the back because that's the only access because the other 2 car seats are in the middle, also the seats are extremely uncomfortable, after I've been driving for about 40 minutes I notice just how uncomfortable

the 2005 pathfinder is great to drive and looks fantastic. you can really feel the power of the engine. the interior is also fairly comfortable with lots of space. having said that, there are some things I need to address. the glovebox does not shut properly and I need to take it back to the dealer to get it fixed. there is also an annoying rattle in the dashboard that comes and goes. there are also odd little creaks and sounds coming from the car which makes me really question the quality of the build. would this happen with a honda or a toyota?

We bought a "stripped" 4wd SE and feel you can't get more SUV for the money. We just returned from a ski trip to VT and this thing provided a perfect balance between handling, power, and 4WD ability all for $26k out the door. The 4Runner is about $3500 more similarly optioned, and even then it lacks what you get in the Pathfinder. Build quality on ours is excellent, no rattles etc.. It is clearly not a car based SUV, but rides as good as a real chassis based SUV possibly can. Buy a Murano if you want a car...if you want something that can tow, go off-road et al then buy this.

We test drove EVERYTHING! This newly designed Pathfinder blew everything(4- runner, Envoy, Durango, Cherokee, Pilot) and none of them gave us the standard options that came with the Pathfinder for the price. It drives like a car and just had a higher quality feel to it than anything else we drove. I'm 6'3, 230 pounds and this is the most confortable car we've owned.

From the day I purchased the vehicle through the present it has been a joy to own. Although it lacks somewhat in head room, it is comfortable once I get in. Being 6-2 and 290 doesnt make for ease in getting into any vehicle. It handles well in the snow and other crumby weather. I am looking forward to another summer of towing the motorcycles and enjoying the great outdoors.

This is a great SUV. I've owned my Pathfinder for a little over one year and I still look forward to driving it each day. Comfortable, powerful, reliable and for me, it's just the right size. Since I stay on the blacktop, I can't really comment on it's off-road capabilities, yet. Around town, it's powerful and nimble enough to handle any driving situation with ease and on the highway, the Pathfinder really excels. At cruising speeds (70-80 mph) it's smooth, quiet and effortless to drive. Plenty of room for my family of four and all of our gear on those long road trips and it can tow 3 tons. This is one vehicle that I would highly recommend.

Boy does this suv draw attention. I have owned mine for 17 months and since day one it has drawn looks, stares, and strangers asking me if they can get a closer look. I can see why, I like to look at it too, I love the color (woodland bronze) and how unique it is. I drove several suv's when trying to decide on one, and the fact that you don't see a lot of pathfinders on the road is what sold me on it. I went from a minivan to this and can not even believe the power! I also love the dvd for my 3 boys and the cargo space for traveling. I too can not roll my rear d. side window up, but my 4 year old can do it himself with the rear control. It just can't be operated from the driver seat.

EDGY looks, FUN to drive, POWERFUL V6. Love the looks and 17 inch wheels. The ride is very comfortable. The LE has most of the bells and whistles I wanted for a competitive price. Didn't need the 4X4 cuz I stay on paved roads and don't like to waste $ on gas. I do appreciate the option of using unleaded 87 octane. The only complaints I have are: No cargo cover, no power side view mirrors (the Maxima has power mirrors...what gives?), and no indicator on your instrument panel when your headlights are on. Outside of these small issues this SUV gives you the most bang for the buck! I could easily have bought the RX330 or MDX, but know I made the right choice with the 2005 Pathfinder.

Overall, this Pathfinder has been an excellent SUV. Power is outstanding, interior has been deemed as the "lap of luxury" by passengers not expecting the interior of a truck-based SUV to be as supple as the LE's. Most notible issue I've had with the build quality is the LOUD rattle/creaking noise that consistently comes from under dash near the steering column. I've located the cause, but neither the dealer or I have been able to mute it. Also, with 4 or 5 passengers, the rear shocks will bottom out on larger freeway bumps at highway speeds, causing an unwelcomed bouncing effect for the following couple of seconds.

A true SUV. Looks good too! Ride is fine, the handling is amazing. Took 1 road trip to discover that this is an excellent handling vehicle. Ammenities are nice, but I do have my issues with it ... none serious, mostly my preferences. Let me back track, a lot of people's preferences I assume. Recommended for its quality, styling and very powerful engine. Never ceases to amaze me how smaller vehicles believe they can "blow by" this iteration of the PathFinder. This thing came quite literally move you quickly and under control. To conclude on this point, if you don't want to be passed by the majority of vehicles you will not be OR at the very least you can keep up!

I have read several comments from people who own a Pathfinder about the problems with the radiator leaking into the transmission. Well, now I am personally having this problem as well. The fluid has leaked into my transmission which now has to be completely overhauled and its only 3 years old and of course out of warranty. So buyers beware. We called Nissan but were basically told too bad. Until now the vehicle ran great so if you do purchase a Pathfinder then make sure you buy the extended warranty!!

We love it,and my moms gonna buy one. MPG in city is 16, Hwy is 19 average at quick speed, gets better at slower speeds, but why go slower? Very quite and smooth at 80+ MPH. Interior is great with more than enough toys to play with. Air vents in the rear are great and many. 3rd row seat is good for smaller people, but works for the occassional adult. Seats are all very comfortable and heated seats are great. Dual heat control is also nice but we're currently having trouble with the heat, there is no difference in temp. between 80 and 65. This will be fixed today. Adjustable peddles are great, I'm 6'2 and have plenty of room. Very nice for the money.

I really love this SUV. We researched them all and this was the best "value". The ride is extremely comfortable. I took it to work in the snow on our third day with it and was completely impressed. The VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) was tested out extensively and I was amazed at how well it performed. I couldn't make it go into an uncontrolled slide. You'll feel comfortable with your family riding in it. I compared the SE to the Off road and the off-road had a little bit stiffer feel but not in a bad way. I think the regular SE might have been a little soft to take on the dirt.

i virtually live out of my Pathfinder. it's interior is highly functional and the exterior design is meaty and great. the designers really did their work from the extra cup holders and cell phone slots to the grab handles on the luggage rack to the placing of the hooks for the grab net in the cargo area. i used to drive a ford explorer but i find the pathfinder to be an much better suv overall. i also tow a boat pushing the limits of it's towing capacity. I was looking at this site and seen there are alot of the same problems out there that I have seen in my 5 years of ownership. Just last year I had a new transmission put into my 58,000 mile Pathfinder and it was covered under the 5/60,000 warranty which should be a coverage that every dealer should be able to act on. Alot of these transmission problems are a result of the Radiator cooling lines are collapsing not allowing the tranny to be cooled therefore this is a manufacture issue and should be corrected especially if the vehicle is within the warranty period.

I have had my 2005 Pathfinder for exactly 1 year next week and it still feels like I bought it yesterday! I love it. Very comfortable (drove it from south Florida to Maryland and back in 4 days), very sporty (hauls my kayaks and dirtbikes around like it's nothing), pulls a 5000 lb boat very well (not underpowered or feeling like the boat is pulling me), the sound system is amazing, and I have not had 1 problem with it yet! They really are fun to drive in-town, on the beach, on the highway(lots of get up and go when you need it) and they are really great looking. They also have all the creature comforts you could ask for including 3rd row seating and a first-aid kit included! Get one!

Have the 2001 pathfinder LE 4x4,love it and still have it. I have the 2005 pathfinder LE since dec. 15, 2004 and it is awesome driving it. Powerful top 10 rated 270hp VQ engine is very smooth and a lot of power to give when passing. The growling engine sound make me even enjoy driving this suv. Leather seats are very much will designed and comfortable. Lot of cargo room when third row seats were fold flat into the floor. Third row seats is good enough for average size people for a short haul. Storage is more, specially for cd and dvd. Console and instrument panel layout was given very much attention in detail to my opinon. Sound system is superior with 9 speakers. Overall it is awesome.

I started looking for an SUV about 2 months ago, and tested 10 different ones, including Jeeps (I have owned 7 Jeeps in the past 20 years). The first thing that blew me away was the interior and quality of workmanship of the LE. They thought of everything! I drove the Cadillac, Mercedes, BMW 5 Series, Jeep Limited, etc. and my impression of the LE was that it should cost $10,000 more - The quality and design of the leather, the standard 3rd row, the Bose speakers (I actually started listening to classical music). Acceleration is superb. Handling is wonderful. Can't make the car rattle. Went to 4 different dealerships and would recommend DARCARS. Got best treatment and deal by far w/ no BS.

I was under the impression that Japanese cars were all well made, until owning this vehicle. We have made trip after trip after trip to the dealer getting things fixed. No fewer than 14 different things had broken in the first two years -- all of which were fixed by the dealer, because all were due to poor design and/or manufacturing. Beyond bad quality, my biggest issue is the front seats. They literally cause pain if you have to sit on them for more than a half hour. Compared to all the vehicles I have owned, these are by far the most uncomfortable seats.

Price per pound this vehicle is hard to beat if your a growing family or just need a bigger vehicle. The new 4.0L V-6 feels more like a V-8 than a V-6, yet is lite on fuel. The MPG est. posted by Nissan seem to be modest @ 22/25, mine has 500miles on it < still tight/unseated> and already showing 23.4 city MPG in constant stop and go.

So much better than my Ford Explorer

I have always been a Ford man, never driving an "import". Finally the resale value of Fords turned me to products by Nissan & Toyota. I have to say I am glad I made the switch. The overall quality of my Nissan Pathfinder is so much better than I have learned to live with. It is loaded with extras, has more power than I know what to do with and has a new powerful look to it. No wonder Nissan has one of the highest resale values on the market.

The overall build quality of this vehicle appears to be very solid. I'm still trying to adjust to the vehicle coming from a 2003 Z71 Tahoe. The V6 takes much more effort to get to speed. Both vehicles get around 14mpg city driving. The Bose stereo is not as full sounding (along with rattles) and the seats need additional adjustments. The ride is not quite as smooth as the Tahoe, although the handling is much more precise. The interior plastics on the Pathfinder are a large improvement from GM. I think the Pathfinder is a great vehicle if you are in the market for a mid-size SUV. I'm relying on the resale and reliability of Nissan to justify my purchase.

The 2005 Nissan Pathfinder is really a great vehicle. I bought the fully loaded LE with DVD and NAV. In comparison to luxury brands, the value here is tremendous. I also have an 2003 BMW X5, which drives very well. In comparing both, the Pathfinder holds its own. It handles great in snow and off road. I would prefer a stiffer suspension though. The Honda Pilot has more room, but not the off road handling or the looks. The Toyota 4Runner won't offer the sunroof or Limited version if you want the third row. No American car compares well at all. This Pathfinder replaces my 1990 Maxima, which I bought in 1990 - it has over 220,000 miles and is still going strong, so I really endorse the Nissan engineering.

I've owned this vehicle for two months and I absolutely love to drive it. Compared to other first buy vehicles, I had no buyers remorse. I can't keep my daughter from behind the wheel of my Pathfinder and she owns a top of the line Toyota Matrix, which I consider an excellent vehicle and value. I test drove all of the recommended reliable SUVs including the 4Runner, Pilot, Explorer, Lexus and the pathfinder was the better vehicle hands-down when matched-up to the critcal consumer selling features such as: comfort, safety, handling, acceleration and styling. The BOSE stereo is awesome. Sticker price was 35,600, I purchased at 32,650. Get a deal that feels good to you!

Purchased used 05 Pathfinder in January of this year. Within a month of owning the vehicle, began having the transmission problems that everyone talks about on here (radiator fluid mixing w/ transm. fluid) completely destroying the transmission and radiator. Also began having the fuel sensor problem that everyone talks about. This all occurred between 65K - 70K miles. Don't take just my word for it. Read all of the bad reviews online for this vehicle for the tranny and fuel sensor problem. New tranny costs $5,000. To top things off, the gas mileage is awful on this vehicle (16 mpg best I ever got) I highly suggest you stay away from this vehicle.

I don't think I have had more fun driving a vehicle than our Pathfinder (and I have been driving for over 40 years). The cargo space is great yet when needed will hold 7 people. I have had 6 cyclinder vehicles before but this is the strongest one I have driven. This is my first Nissan and I am real pleased with it. We considered buying a Toyota Highlander because I have owned several Toyota's and was pleased with it. But the Pathfinder was to us in a class of its own. I highly recommend this.

Drove a 1996 Pathfinder for nine years (180K miles). Nothing wrong with the old one - just wanted something new, and could assist a relative by giving them the old one. I wanted another SUV and thought I'd try something different; "new and improved", so to speak. Did lots of research, many test drives, and the 05 Pathfinder won again. It's comfortable, drives tight, and accomodates the combination of long legs and high heels. The new styling is fresh and the combo performance/comfort package makes road trips pleasant. BTW, the '96 is still going strong. I was unable to ignore my personal historical data. I have every expectation that my '05 will provide the same years of reliability.
